Among the things that Anaiise loved, camping was definitely up in the top five.....her job being top priority, of course, with Rosebud as a whole coming in second and the people of her beloved home nestled at third. One of the best things she loved about being Mayor was that she had many chances to meet the people of her town, especially enjoying when she got to greet and welcome newcomers both visiting and moving in. Heck, she had helped develop the welcoming committee long before she had been elected and wanted to continue heading it with the same genuine gusto she had as a plain old citizen. Rosebud was filled with so many wonderful people and new ones were coming more frequently, including the lovely grimm she found herself out in the woods with today.
When Anaiise had met Amie through Fenris' introduction, she wanted to make a good impression upon someone who was special to him, both as a person and as a city official. Things had started off....tense. Amie was not the most approachable of people and she seemed to be clingy and defensive when it came to Fenris....though Anaiise felt that it only made sense, since the girl was new to the town and knew almost no one else except for the coffee house owner. The neko did her best to not take any of it personally and tried to remain as pleasant and friendly as ever, which wasn't that hard; she was always genuine when it came to being nice. She really did want to help Amie feel welcome and settled comfortably in Rosebud however she could, so when she heard about the camping trip, she gladly offered to go with Amie and teach her some things about the outdoors if she would like. It was fairly clear that Anaiise was trying to maintain a positive light on the experience from the start, despite Amie's body language and attitude....and even as she set up the tent, her ears had caught some of the words muttered that confirmed that things weren't going quite as smoothly as she had hoped. Still, she said nothing of it and tried to keep a smile on her face and confidence in her heart.
"Already?" Anaiise looked up when Amie said that they needed more firewood, standing up with a stretch and seeing that, indeed, the fire was starting to die. How queer....but that was fine! They had found plenty of firewood that should last them through the time they'd spend up.
"The axe? Wasn't it....? Huh.....landsake, where did it get off to?" The neko scratched behind an ear in confusion, adjusting her glasses before she turned about to glance over the site to check if she could see it offhand. She heard a metallic 'thunk' sound and looked back towards the tent where she had set aside the cooking utensils; the handle of the axe was sticking out from the larger pot. Anaiise cocked her head to the side before she picked it up, looking at it in confusion.
"Well that's a funny place for it to have ended up....hmm.." She inspected the handle and saw that it had some marks on it; imprints pressed into the wood that looked like they were teeth of some sort of animal.
"Could have been a curious raccoon that got fascinated with it, then left it here out of boredom. Tricky little critters but basically harmless as long as we make sure they can't get into anything." She walked over and handed the axe to Amie with a warm smile.
"When you put the wood on the fire, I have plenty of kindling from the leaves and twigs I swept out of the way from where I set up the tent. It'll make sure they catch and burn seamlessly."
