He could feel it and it made the hairs at the nap of his neck stand on end and his tail puff at the sensation. A compression of magical energy pressing against it's own boundaried. It burned like a sun wanting to burst and it bleeped in his mind with the intensity of a radio wave inside his mind. Anyone else could sense energy signatures. Mauvians could detect the need for change.
He rounded the corner, having sensed the senshi several blocks away and now trying to catch up to him before they seemed to slow down. At long last he moved through a hedge and across a courtyard till he reached them "Hey! Wait up!"

Eurydike was not thrilled to be out again, and honestly he'd only agreed to it because Emrys was willing to go with him. He was edgy the entire time, constantly glancing around as if somehow something would sneak up on him. Like a general with a false leg, or a youma with the tattered remnants of a hospital gown clinging to her gaunt form. Make no mistake, it wasn't as if he wasn't giving this any effort, just... whether it was because he just still lacked the reserves to pretend to be okay or he was trying to be a little more honest with his husband, it was still a look too soon to tell which it was. Maybe both. It still felt like a waste of time, and he kept fidgeting with the soft patch over his eye, still gauze, but less than the massive swath of bandages he'd been sporting recently. "It's been about half an hour, " he implored his husband. "Maybe we should just start headin' back an' - " Oh no. Eurydike turned slowly and saw a cat barreling at them. "Oh, ******** that." He turned, fumbled for the squire's hand, and promptly started walking briskly the other way, tugging his husband along. "Nope."

"If you keep glancing around like that, you're going to make me nervous," said Emrys quietly, giving his husband's wrist a small squeeze. "Relax. We're all right, aren't we? It's been a relatively quiet night so far, I wouldn't worry too much."
It felt strange to be on the other end of things; generally speaking, it was Eurydike who comforted Emrys and Emrys who had the nerves like a basket of eggs ready to drop at any second. To have their roles reversed was both a little uncertain and a little confusing, but not so much that Emrys wasn't ready to stand up and do exactly that. This was Eurydike, after all - Emrys would have done anything to protect him.
"We can head back if you - " He started to say, but the cat's appearance made them both stare, eyes wide. Emrys felt Eurydike's fingers groping for hers, fingers clutching, and then he was being pulled down the street, a startled yelp escaping him.
"Eurydike - wait - what are you doing? It's just a cat - "

Arthur looked at the man who had looked at him, and then puffed up when the man turned around and walked faster away.
"What the - " He sputtered before he growled. He wasn't here racing after senshi for his own health and he sure as hell didn't like being ignored. Just because he wasn't human didn't mean he was nothing. As a Mauvian and a guardian, there should have been some respect in what he was or at least some acknowledgement of a shared side and intelligence. Instead, he was being ignored and being escaped from as if he was some sales person waving a flyer.
Running ahead, he passed the pair and stopped in front of their path a few feet away. "Don't ignore me!" He hissed back, tail flicking about in agitation.

Eurydike wasn't loving how on edge he was either, but he couldn't help it. Too many times he'd been jumped, too many enemies he had prowling these streets at night, and too many demons were still creeping around inside his own head. Frankly, it was a goddamn miracle he'd even agreed to come out here, and that was more because he was still so damn conflicted on whether or not it was better or worse not to do a goddamn thing and stay the ******** out of the way. He was about to agree to head back when the cat happened. "I ********' know it's a cat!" he grunted. "But it's one of them damn talkin' cats an' when they ********' pop up - !" He was about to say 's**t gets ******** up' when suddenly the furball appeared in front of them, and he skidded to a stop, sighing in a way that made his whole body sway with the gesture. " Fine, " he grunted, glaring at the damn thing and crossing his arms. "You got my attention, so what the ******** do you want from me?"

The cat was following them, which was probably not helpful to Eurydike's already frayed nerves. It wasn't like Emrys could blame him - he really, really couldn't - but it still made him just a little bit anxious, adding on to his already generally anxious state.
Though he'd been doing much better at that lately. Emrys glanced over at his husband, opening his mouth to say - something, he wasn't sure what - when he felt him jerk to a sudden stop. Emrys staggered a little, making a sort of muffled sound in the back of his throat, righted himself, and turned to see that the cat was, well. Still there. Watching them.
And of course, talking, because Eurydike had been right. Emrys made a soothing noise and took his hand again, curling fingers together.
"You're not here to do anything...bad, are you?" he asked warily.

Arthur puffed even more at the question. "Bad?! What do you think Guardian cats do? I'll have you know we are here to help senshi in any way we can and to guide them whenever they may need it. Bad? Honestly. I'm here for a good thing. A great thing!" He said as he moved up to Eurydike.
"You have exceeded your limit of power your pen allows and have grown a lot l. I'm here to make you an Eternal, Eurydike."
"Now, if you'd not fuss as much as you already have and give me your henshin pen. This will only take a moment."

"First guardian cat I ever met tried to zap my a** with a laser; second one I met powered me up an' ran the ******** off, " Eurydike countered bitingly; he'd had more bad from cats than good, and really, wasn't this war kind of half their fault? (Not that he'd ever say that to Thraen; he liked Thraen, and yeah, Faust was okay too. Exception, not the rule.) This time, though, the news really was good, and some of the fire in Eurydike's attitude flickered out. "Oh. That's why." An eternal... "That's... I could hold my own against a general or whatever then, right?" he asked a little more softly, kind of fidgeting a little in place. He tried to make it out like he was asking casually, but who was he really kidding. He'd had his a** kicked so many times, being able to stand on his own for once would be a more than ******** welcome change. He offered up his henshin pen without a single additional peep of protest, his face burning a little from the whole mess. "Sorry. I - thanks for this."
