Quote: Event Prompt 1 of ??? You come home one afternoon to find a package waiting for you in the mailbox. It’s a small parcel with only the image of a smiling, friendly jack-o-lantern where a sender’s address should be. When you open the package, a porcelain pumpkin bearing the same smile as the sender’s image falls into your palm. The only other thing that you can find in the package is a small business card with the name Perniciousa inscribed in gold lettering. When you google the name, nothing comes up but you’re pretty sure you recall seeing a new store pop up with that name on the outskirts of the shopping district of Destiny City. It must be some sort of advertisement for the holiday season - neat! The store doesn't look quite open yet but hopefully it will be in time for the holiday! Anyone who makes use of this prompt is allowed to save the little porcelain pumpkin for display! Besides, who knows what secrets it may hold!

Once you made a fake identity and had an address, junk mail just became a thing. Oftentimes it was useful as a comfortable place to lay after he spread it on the kitchen table. There was something about paper that was just comfortable, but after a month the spam mail got too much and he learned to shred and to recycle. Since Mordred wasn't home, he would place a plastic bin with wheels he ordered against the door for the mail to fall into the slot. Packages were worse as he had to wait till no one was watching, open the door, and throw his weight against the box till he got it inside. He really wanted to install a large mail slot for those but he'd have to wait to bribe a human to masqurade as him to let someone install that. Being a smart cat living in a man's word was hard.
That morning he heard a particular heavy noise as a thick brown box hit the floorboards by the door waking him up from a cat nap he was taking between waiting on email responses from clients. Work was going well and he had stayed up late to finish customizing a website for a bakery in Destiny City opening in a month. He told them he would test their ordering feature later today to see if they got the information and could process his card without any technical hiccups - not that he suspected his work was anything but perfect. At this point he could whip out a website easily and still go on a patrol for senshi. Home jobs were the best.
Stretching on the couch, he jumped down from the heat pad and walked over to check the mail. "Junk. Electric Bill. Chinese food flyer. Thai food flyer. Pizza flyer. Credit card spam mail. And -
"Well isn't this festive." He said as he looked at the smiking sticker. No address. "Did they hand deliver these? That's a rough job my friend." He stared at the package and frowned. Getting these things open was always a trial. Amazon was the worst culprit with their hard to pull tabs.
Biting the package, he could feel it had some weight and he dropped it and used his paws to bat it into the living room and to the carpet where it wouldn't scoot about as much. Once there, he worked his claws over the package, shredding the sides in long clawmarks against the cardboard. It was enjoyable and he took pleasure in tearing the side of it over and over again.
He left it be and went back to work for a few hours after. It wasn't till he it was time for dinner and he tore a package of gourmet cat food that he remembered that he never opened the package. Taking the opened pouch in his mouth to his plate on the table, he ate dinner and then jumped down to finish the job. Once torn enough, he noticed a pumpkin staring back at him. That was it.
Shaking the pumpkin out, he knocked the package over to see no address but he could swear he saw it before. A shop somewhere downtown near the Bittersweet Cafe. Was it a costume place? Whatever it was, they had terrible marketing to not write their name and provide a flyer. He checked the box and only saw a card with. "Perniciousa" written in gold. "Fancyyyyy." He said and jumoed up on his laptop to see what he could find. After about 10 minutes he noticed they didn't have a website yet. "Maybe I should mail them my card......if they had a address." They clearly had money to have someone had deliver packages with pumpkins and gold-leaf lettered cards. Pretentious too to try and remain mysterious.
"In my day, you at least gave your address."
He moved to toss out the package in the tiny trash can he kept (even a little big and he couldn't dumb it out.) Returning to the pumpkin, he knocked it over with one paw. Being without thumbs meant he couldn't really decorate and he couldn't offer candy. He remembered the holidays with Eleanor when she would take out a candy bowl for the day and he and her would give a candy to kids who passed by. He missed it. Today he would leave a bowl out beside the door and hope greedy deviants didn't dump it all into their bag.
Bapping the pumpkin he looked out the window where the blinds were drawn to keep anyone from the street seeing a cat at a computer most days and could hear the wind. Fall was here. Another year without Eleanor. It was almost the time of her last breath again, and he felt the twist in his stomach.
Mordred wasn't here either and he knew he might be having Thanksgiving and Christmas alone. He'd have to remedy that. He didn't want to eat takeout watching Groundhog's Day alone. Would the senshi even like a holiday with strangers and some friends among all the chaos of their own home lives and patroling? Would the other guardians show up to help block order signatures? Maybe he was thinking too big and being too hopeful. It was a nice thought at least.
"Well, at least I have you for company Pumpkin. Thabks for being festive. You think I should dress up for the season?" Picking the pumpkin up by its stem with his teeth, he jumped back up on his heating pad and set the pumpkin beside him. Waking up his computer, he typed up cat costumes and was lost to the horror and the strange vast array of dressing up cats and cat outfits. Deciding Would be harder than he originally thought. Did he go sexy or funny?
"What do you think? I could be a maid. Think that would turn anyone on?" He asked the pumpkin beside him.
"Yeah you're right. I shouldn't settle on one outfit." He went and opened PayPal.
