Quote: Your character(s) are having leisurely stroll through the forest and reach a fork in the path. Suddenly, a wisp appears out of nowhere, hovers in front of them, then dashes into the darkest path from the fork!
Her paws crunched against fallen leaves strewn across the forest floor. The occasional bird, the random rustle of leaves in the trees or underbrush as some creature skittered along its way. This was her idea of relaxing. Amongst nature, feeling the simple energies of the world around her. Not thinking of the hustle and bustle of any city or town or even the shop. A shop she was still not as serious about as she should be, she knew.
Kismet yawned, eyes closing briefly and ears tipping back as she stretched her arms upward. Canines flashed briefly in the endless twilight and her seven tails twitched and swayed behind her. But she wasn't out here to deal with that. Nope. Even if she was keeping an eye out for useful ingredients she could gather another time. Wasn't her main purpose. It was to relax, to not worry, to be at ease--
Something hissed in her ear and one perked, the small female stopping suddenly. No. Not hissed. Buzzed? Hummed? Golden eyes narrowed. She stood at a fork in the forest path, one side lighter, covered by less underbrush and overarching tree limbs. The other seemed the opposite. Less traveled save by perhaps small critters, the brush and intertwining branches smothering the light that tried to break through.
The humming grew, and she glanced sidelong at the wisp that hovered beside her, seemingly waiting for her attention, before it bobbed up and down a few times. Just like that, it wisked away, blowing through the still air down the darker pathway at a speed she'd not expected from the entity. "... now what?" Her words were soft, barely more than an exhale, and her tails began to twitch and sway as her ears leaned backwards. This wasn't going with her just relax plans, if she followed it, she knew that bloody well much...
Again her ears twitched, and without turning about she called, "I take it you saw it as well?"

-It hadn't been too long since Dante had visited the other creepy forest, looking for a way to soothe some joint aches that came with the current hard labor job he was working. The woman in the Black Tree had given him exactly what he needed, and then some, along with some advice and some...Well, he supposed they were wise words. Perhaps an attempt for her to seem more mystical than she actually was, he didn't know.
What he did know is that her words, her advice, seemed to come true before his very eyes as he unconciously followed the path that was supposed to lead where he was going, as well as a Kumiho walking before him...and both seemed to have stopped at the sight of a wisp.
It was unusual, really, seeing just...one wisp. As far as he'd been told, wisps congregated in small groups. Seeing one by itself was odd...Unless this was a different type of floating ball of light?
"Yeah." He replied, sauntering up to stand slightly behind and to the side of his fellow pathwalker, eyes trained on the direction the wisp went. "Now the actual question is...Wanna follow it?" He cracked a grin, though she probably couldn't see.

Kismet still kept her eyes on the darker path where the wisp had zoomed off to, but her ears continued to swivel and twitch, monitoring where the other living, corporeal person moved. Voice came from higher up, someone taller than her. Didn't sound like they were hesitating to approach or speak. Even moved up closer to where she was. She drew in a slow, deep breath through her nose and exhaled swiftly back out through it, shoulders bouncing slightly with the movements.
Either she had the relative fortune of bold company, or the additional misfortune of stepping into an unknown with someone only wielding an easily shakable facade. Her nose wrinkled slightly. She disliked the notion of babysitting if it was the case of the latter. The former, though...
"Yes," she said simply, barely a breath before she began to walk forward. No rush, no fuss, but still a steady pace. If the thing really had wanted them to follow, hurrying along wouldn't be necessary. Right? "I assume you won't have difficulty keeping up?" If they were as tall as they sounded, certainly not. Though she was also leaving the option open in case there were any physical concerns she was unaware of.

Something has happened.... The wisp returns. With a friend this time, and they both hover a few feet in front of the approaching students, before once again zooming away.

"'Course not." In fact, he'd already taken a few steps to catch up with her, to now be walking beside instead of behind. Granted, any furter steps he took were a little stuttered, since one of his seemed to equal three or so of hers. Ah, stride differences.
"Let me guess. Coming for a leisurely walk to get away from either the city or...hm...responsibility?" A low chuckle escaped him, and he was given a pause as the wisp returned. Well, two of them did.
"...Huh. One for each of us, then?"

As the other moved up quickly alongside her, Kismet took the chance to glance towards them. A grimm, purples and blues swirling and misting across his fur. Looked sturdy enough. Still not giving him the benefit of the doubt till she saw proof he wouldn't tuck his tail and bolt if anything took a turn for the odder or worse.
She didn't rush her pace to keep better in time with him, even if she did notice the awkward mishmash of their strides. Behind her, her tails flicked as her ear towards him flicked. "More or less correct," she granted him, pausing for a small moment before adding, "I meant to relax on my day off. Thought I'd find peace out in the woods."
That the wisp returned with a fellow made her quirk a brow. She eyed them warily, slowing her pace further in case the wisps meant to stop wherever they'd been lead, but when the pair zipped off ahead again she gave a huff. Returning to her previous pace, she gave a grunt to the grimm's observation. "Or multiplying further. I wonder if they're leading us to more, perhaps to grab a snack for their group?"

"Not exactly the best of relaxing walks, but honestly, it's not like we've got a rabid bear charging at us." Dante chuckled as he continued on, making sure to not take too many longer strides. "But hey, maybe we're being led towards an all-inclusive secret spa. Yanno, the kind hidden in the mists or something."
It was impossible, of course. The woods they were heading into were not the kinds of things you'd see in movies, and even if they were, it was a wishful fantasy. Still, he didn't want this to turn into a walk of silence, so it was either jokes or waxing philosophical about how the path was akin to the road of life. He'd try the latter later.
"Eh...Maybe." He had to admit. "I don't think these are domesticated wisps, at least. But hey, i promise if we need to run I won't trip you to save my own hide." Cracking a grin, Dante swished his tail almost playfully. "Not like we're in a horror movie!"

A faint snort came from her nose at his commentary. Golden eyes narrowed towards him, a slight twitch forming in the corner of her lips. Rabid bear? Secret spa? She could hear the humor in his voice and for the moment allowed herself a small moment to laugh at the ridiculousness of it all. Had she thought he might be serious, though... well.
Kismet would have been feeling much less guilty then if anything did happen.
"I suppose you never know what sorts of things you can come across in the woods. Especially when wandering after things that might not want you to leave," she added with a soft hum. The constant chatter was not entirely unwelcomed, though now and then her gaze flicked towards him, curious if it was a sign of nervousness. The layer of leaves beneath her paws thickened bit by bit, the underbrush coming closer along the sides of the path. The route less taken, perhaps?
When he spoke up of promising to not trip her to save his own life, she actually laughed to that, sharp canines bared from the movement. Her expression was almost wicked in its challenge as she gazed up at him. "Whose to say they'd even want me? You're bigger. Might be more of a meal with you. Besides, isn't it always the chatty ones who go first in horror flicks?"

"Usually." He admitted, "But if we're lucky we can lead anything bad into the way of horny teenagers. You what usually happens to those."
But he got the point he figured was being made, and continued on silently down the path the wisps were leading them on. It was getting darker the more they walked, and even though he had no issues with the dark itself, he did have issue with the fact that it was...too dark farther up ahead. The wisps were nowhere to be seen, though the pathway still led on.
That was something else that was weird; There was...a clear path ahead. No debris, no leaf litter, not even a fallen branch lay in their path. Narrow, yes, and lined by ferocious-looking trees, but too clean for his tastes.
"Think we've been expected at all?" His voice was low this time, "Cuz it almost looks like we're getting the royal treatment."

Oh. She liked his humor. Yes. "Hmmm... good point. We might get out of this with our hides intact after all," she mused, tails flicking faintly in her amusement. Though just as the conversation was not unwelcomed, the silence beyond their footfalls and the woods around them was also taken with open arms. Her ears swiveled and perked at each and every sound that slid or popped in the air. Bit by bit, the light began to dim around them, and her previous brief smiles faded entirely into small scowls.
Too dark. Too empty. Too clean. Her fur fluffed as a shiver laced along her shoulders and down her spine. Her companion's low tones were met with a hum and slight, soft, growl. "If our guides have left us," she called out to the darkened path ahead--and whatever lay beyond it--"then so shall we take our leave. We've no interest in intruding where we should not tred." Kismet's voice was firm in its intention and formalities, unsure what sort of forces were at work in this place.
To the Grimm though, she frowned and added softly, "Royal treatment without an escort. Feels like a trap no matter how it's presented."
