The city park wasn't the safest of places inthe city, he knew that, but it seemed a lot safer than other places it seemed - like clinics. The places which should be safe...weren't. The latest event kept him from sleeping properly, nightmares and such, and that was why he was out this early in the morning looking a bit overtired, or like a zombie. Dressed in an overly large hoodie, he liked sweaterpaws, the dark eyes male was yawning as he rounded a corner and almost walked right into a bench. He hadn't' seen it, too busy warning, he wasn't surprised that h e'd almost walked into something though. he had a habit of it when he was overtired, or got caught up in his own thoughts.

"Damn." cursing softly he shook his had, reclaiming his partially lost balance, and continued on his way. So far he hadn't run into anyone and he supposed that wasn't a bad thing. It was rather good actually, he was too tired to put on a smile and act nice and happy for people. He was tired and he had not enjoyed the last few weeks. He just hoped this year was normal for the fall, and winter, he didn't think he could handle more abnormal and unsafe things happening.

A dirty, wet ball rolled in front of him and stopped. Shortly after, a rather large, muddy-pawed husky rushed over. When he saw the man, he stopped and looked up at him, waiting. Current dog rules said that the ball was his until it went to a person. Then it was their job to throw it.

"Hey!" Came a call further off. "Can you toss it for him?" Further off was a man with short, messy looking black hair wearing an open jacket with a hoodie underneath.

Surprised by the ball that had suddenly appeared at his feet, not expecting it this early in the morning, Xi-Wang nodded almost dumbly at the person calling out to him; ordering him to toss the ball. Bending down he picked up the ball and stood back up straight.

Tossing the ball, towards the owner, his dark eyes watched to see if the dog would run towards his owner or perhaps go for the ball and ignore his owner. "O-of course." Calling out towards the other figure. The dog had looked rather hopeful anyway, as if they expected him to toss the ball...or like they wanted him to, so he would have anyway.

The large dog rushed off after the ball, bounding across the damp morning ground and picking up the chewed-up tennis ball. Then, ignoring it's owner, turned and ran back to the person who threw the ball.

"General!" Called the man. "Stop bothering him!"

The husky, named General, walked back up to Xi-Wang and dropped the ball, waiting.

After a few seconds it let out a rolling dog moan and pawed the ball to get the man's attention that he wanted him to toss it again.

See human. Ball. Throw.

His owner started to slowly walk across the lawn towards Xi-Wang. "Sorry! He's being a butt." He called out.

Watching the dog run off, and ignore it's owner, he was surprised when the dog came back to him and not it's owner. Wouldn't' a dog go to it's owner? Someone familiar? Smiling he watched the ball get dropped at his feet, the dog waiting for him to pick it up and throw it again.

Listening to the dog, poor thing, he finally bent and scooped up the wet ball and gave it a throw. As the owner got closer he shook his head, smiling and even laughing softly. "It's umm...fine. I don't mind...I'm sorry if this is ruining your walk though." As he didn't mean to ruin the others morning, if that was what was happening due to him giving into the dogs obvious want.

"I can leave the ball the next time if you want..." So they could continue their walk, and he could continue his. Not that he had anything else planned this early in the morning aside from walking till he was tired enough to fall into a dreamless sleep for the next several hours, as he was hoping. He had an issue with hospitals at this point, he would admit to it, thanks to the Negaverse. He was, not for the first time, glad he was on neither side of the war but on a fairly neutral side. He didn't think he could be on a side that went for clinics and hospitals...and those who were in need...not to mention they'd hit their own.

"No it's fine. I didn't want him to bother you. He's just upset I'm not throwing so good today." He pulled down his sleeve to show the bandages. "We stop here on a walk to take a break. He expects to play games." He said, reaching down to pet the dog. "Right, General? You need to stop harassing strangers."

The dog however wasn't focusing on his owner at all, watching the ball be picked up and then running off after it.

Watching him go, Toren looked back at the man, tugging his own sleeve back down where it belonged. "Lucky you. You're the only person we have seen this early at the park and he volunteered you. If you got to run, just leave the ball. Once his tantrum is done, he'll give up and give the ball to me."

"Ohh...are you ok?" He asked while glancing over the others obvious injury. What had happened? The other was hurt and so couldn't do as their dog wanted, so it sort of now made sense.

"Couldn't sleep..." He answered honestly, tugging at the bottom of one of his sleeves. His fingers curling into the end of the overly long sleeve, it was a habit he'd never give up no matter what, it was just how he was. A nervous sort of person and one who was shy and worried over upsetting and bothering people he was prone to fidgeting as some would call it.

"N-no...if I went home I couldn't get back to sleep...not right now anyway." he was out trying to get himself tired enough so he could sleep. It was while looking the other over that he realized he'd seen them before...and he knew where from .They'd stood out to him. They'd been the one having a panic attack! "The clinic...." he answered softly. "I can't sleep....not after that and the hospital...last year." At least it seemed like last year, maybe further back. But that had been all over the news as well.

"I think I'm done with clinics and hospitals..." Rubbing gently at what looked like eyeliner, but wasn't, he sighed. He was tired but couldn't get tired enough to sleep..he was still too awake somehow.

"I'm okay. I've had worse." He said, waving the concern off but then noticing how bad that sounded. "I mean, it's not that serious. I'm not prone to this kind of stuff." He actually was, but he didn't need some stranger thinking he was always injured all the time for reasons he couldn't explain.

He stared back and then touched his arm. "Yeah. I was at a hospital and....things got bad there. It's bad enough being out in Destiny City sometimes. I thought one place that wouldn't be touched was a hospital."

General returned back, ball in his mouth and spit it back out at the man.

"I'm Toren. This is General." He said, reaching down to pet the husky.

"I have trouble sleeping too. Sometimes General helps. He notices and comes over. At least if I'm up, I can talk to him." And sometimes he would let him pet him until he drifted off again.

As he petted the dog, he fixed his attention to scratching the dog's ear. ".....do you have nightmares?" He asked, barely above a whisper.

Having worse...that didn't sound good. While he'd only just met the person he worried about them, with an answer like that. Were they accident prone? But no, they were just saying that they weren't. So then what? Just the dangers of living in Destiny City? That could be the reason, and it would make sense. This city was a hazard to it's citizens. He hadn't fully realized that till he'd gone through the mirror for the first time...till he'd awakened.

"Hospitals should be safe...." Nodding his head in agreement, lowering his gaze to the ground, still fiddling with this sleeves. "It's nice to meet you both...umm I'm Xi-Wang...I'm sorry if it's not easy to say...it's harder to read I promise." So the other was lucky. He'd heard all sorts of butchering of his first and last name, and he accepted it. it did bother him, over time, but he'd grown used to it...he expected it honestly. Unless a place had a person working there who somehow knew Chinese he was screwed as far as his name being said right went.

"Yeah...but I live with friends...so I can't have a pet aside from the goldfish I won from a faire." And he expected they may die at any time....most people said they would. But he didn't feel it was his place to ask Nischal about a pet, especially one he might want. It would need to be something Nischal would want, since it was his condo he was living at. "I don't want to ask for too much from them....I'm lucky I have friends who would take me in when I had no where else to go." Aside from back to Rhona's, and that felt odd since he'd left her place to move in with his ex. He also didn't want to go back to a motel...and have Jett paying for it. He didn't want to admit to defeat, in a way, or take advantage of people...as it felt like that every time he asked for anything. He was working on it though...working on these feelings and they had been lessening over time...especially now since powered up he could help more - do more.

He focused on the words and tried to sound it out very slowly. He was sure he was drawing out the entire name too long, but he wanted to try and at least attempt the best he could and hope that he wouldn't be too close to tearing it apart.

"You shouldn't be sorry. You can't help your name. It's your name. It's what you go by." Or what people went by. He was given his name because he had forgotten his own and when he was told it, knew he couldn't go by Ladon anymore now that he had forgotten that person. It was also confusing to people who no longer recognized him as the man from before.

"Oh, that's too bad. General at least likes you. If you ever want to play with dogs. I now the shelter is happy to have volunteers." He offered, to which the dog in question howled and nudged the ball again. Toren reached down but General scooped it back into his mouth quickly before spitting it out again at Xi-Wang.

"You're being a brat." He whispered as he went to try and grab the ball again.

Again General scooped it into his mouth and spit it back at Xi-Wang.

"It's nice to have someone to watch over you. I had 2 friends help me out a way back when -" He forgot all his memories. " - I had an accident. Helped me get back on my feet. It's hard starting over."

"I know...but everyone seems to mess up and then feels bad. They shouldn't...they shouldn't feel bad about it. It's not their fault." It wasn't his either, well maybe now it was since he hadn't changed his name to something easier. But he liked his name...it was his name - who he was.

"Are they? I mean...I could do that. Though I'd be sad to leave and not take anyone home with me and give them a home...like they deserve. It's sad that they don't have homes and families of their own." It was something he could do but it would be sad, emotionally, for him. If asked, by someone who knew his past, he wasn't sure if he could tell them that he was like this because he would have been no matter what...or if he was emotional like he was because of his mother and how she'd raised him. He just knew he was an emotional sort of person, weak some might say. But it was what bonded him to those who were in his court...why they were his family.

"It is...I've gone from one school to another...then to a motel...a friends..." Scooping up the ball as he continued. "Then my ex's home...and now a friends. Everytime it doesn't feel like home...not for a while. it feels like I"m starting over in an unfamiliar place that isn't mine..." And he still felt like that at times. When it came to bringing new things into the house or doing things, like decorating, he always worried. It felt like he was making it more his...but he worried about it. He needed a home though - to plant his feet for good.

Standing up he tossed the ball, a small smile in place. "I think I'm where I'll call home though. I just...have to work on myself - I'm a work in progress." A small shrug of his shoulders. "At least they accept me for me." His mother never had.

"It seems General likes me..." Which was nice, and maybe he sort of wanted to ask if he and Toren could be friends...maybe. Not just because of the dog but the other was nice...and maybe could use a friend also/

The guy seemed like he went through a lot, and he couldn't be sure if that was just because some people had a rough life or that Destiny City could be especially cruel to people.

"It's good you are at a place you can feel at home with. That you won't be leaving. Getting uprooted over and over can make it hard to feel like things stick. I hope it gets better for you." Because he had no other words to offer. He didn't know how to improve someone's life and felt he was the last person to offer that kind of advice.

His home was disintegrating.

"General is a good boy. You're nice for playing with him."

He glanced back at Xi-Land. "Why were you in the hospital?"

"Thank you. I think it will get better now - it has been." And it would continue to. He was continue to better himself, because he had no other option. He especially had no other option now as he was an eternal for his court...he needed to be stronger and gain some confidence in himself. He had confidence in his court but it was a work in progress with himself.

"I would never say no to a dog like this. He's good - well behaved." Unlike some who didn't seem to like people, or just him, some dogs needed better training.

"Oh! Umm...I was up late getting food in the kitchen..I slipped and hit my foot on the bottom of a counter and cut into it deep. I decided to just bandage it when I got home...I should have had stitches though." He was letting it heal on it's own though, stitches be damned he was not going to another hospital. Not after the clinic - no way. he'd sort of put his foot down on that, as much as he ever could put his foot down.

"What were you doing there? You looked so upset..."

PostPosted: Fri Oct 19, 2018 6:08 pm

Toren knelt down and petted General on either side of his face. "Hear that. He thinks your good and well behaved even when you were a brat as a kid and are being one now." The dog was ignorant of what was being said, instead rolling the tennis ball around in his mouth.

He was surprised to hear that Xi-Wang had been at the same hospital as him, having only assumed he had been at A hospital.

"Oh..........you were there too." And he felt embarrassed at meeting someone who might have seen him having a breakdown.

"I got bit by a dog at work. I work at the shelter. They needed it documented and I needed some stitches and all that. I just...disinfected it when I got home and stitched it myself. I don't think I can go back to that place after what happened."

As for why he was upset.

"....it was....crazy and I don't do well with being locked in places."

"Yeah...I wish. I wish I wasn't though. I didn't want to go to the hospital....there was an incident at a new one, which is closed now, last year I think. I thought the clinic would be safe..." It hadn't been. It had turned into a nightmare, literally.

"You stitches yourself...isn't that painful? I-I mean don't you need something for the pain." Something people didn't have, and couldn't get? So what had the other done then? It sounded painful, and wasn't something he could manage himself. "I should have...but I couldn't go to the hospital after. So I've been keeping it bandaged." And managing to walk around like that with a fair amount of ease, at least not anyway.

"Oh. I'm glad you're ok now. I went to go find you, I saw you rush to the bathroom, but the doctor...well whatever she was turned up." And he'd lost track of the other. But he'd seemed really freaked out. He had tried to be nice to the other....but they didn't like him...another civilian who didn't like those who were powered. He'd tried to help...to offer some comfort. It had hurt to hear those words. But he was ok now....well better at least.
