The night was crisp with a brisk wind that kicked up the fallen leaves from the small trees that lined either side of the street. Shop windows were decorated in cobwebs, inflatable ghosts, and green witches holding Sale signs. These were the nights he was glad he wasn't a black cat and risked the chance of being captured or kicked for having a witch colored coat. However, he was worried tonight.
He had felt an energy signature for the past 20 minutes and had been trying to get around it but it seemed as if it was lingering around on some kind of nefarious business. Hiding inside of a ceramic pumpkin, he looked out the eyes and was waiting for it to move so he could go home. The other way was blocked by tracks to the subway and a very busy stretch of roads a few blocks off in the oppoaite direction to his apartment. There was no going around them.
Taking a breath, he slowly crewoed out of the pumpkin amd made his way over to a parked SUV amd looked about.

Patrolling was hardly nefarious, but for his part Carminite did occasionally dip into an alley whenever he saw easy prey stop in for a smoke or to take a leak. Not the most pleasant of times to gather energy, the latter, but a lot of the guys that did that on a night like this were too drunk to notice what was going on around them so they made for easy targets. Suffice it to say that this wasn't the best of spots to gather energy, but it served its purpose.
He might have even moved on sooner if not for the fact that he did sense a different kind of energy signature at some point during his patrol. After lingering for twenty some minutes it officially piqued the lieutenant's interest, so he he started circling as discretely as he could manage. It wasn't too long before he thought he might have had it, until he looked all along the street at the various storefronts fully decked out for the month of October, and saw...no one.
"What the hell?"

He stood beside the tire, cursing that the officer had actually come closer. How the hell was he going to get going without him following him. He couldn't bring him home!
Slowly moving under the SUV, he moved across the sidewalk and looked up at the fence that lined a cemetery. There wasn't much cover there, but it would cut through the block.
Looking back at the road, he turned his head up and lept up onto the fence and jumped back down. "...just slow and steady." He whispered.

His brow twitched when he felt the signature start to move, and to be honest it kind of freaked him out, too, but he didn't let the creeping feeling get in the way of him satisfying his curiosity. So he followed it, whatever it was, meanwhile keeping his eyes peeled for anything or anyone suspicious. Truth be told he was probably the most suspicious looking guy on that block, but whatever.
He followed the signature to a fence but still didn't see anything. "Oh, c'mon. Seriously?" He curled his lip and peeked through, at the cemetery beyond. A cemetery was the last place he wanted to be in the middle of the night, and if it went in there...
That was when he heard it. A voice. Or...at least he thought he heard a voice. So he looked around, a little more spooked than he would have liked, but he looked and soon spotted a cat just on the other side of the fence.
"No way..." he muttered, eyeing the feline suspiciously. "Was that you?"MoonKitsune Did I mention this is the first time he'll be encountering a kitty?

The mauvian tensed, looking back at the officer and then around and then back at him. Since cats weren't supposed to talk, he just shook his head. Nope. Not him.
Then he slowly started to back away working his way towards a hedge further off.

The thing nearly got him, too. He nearly walked away when the cat shook its head, but he processed things quickly enough and he narrowed his eyes at the feline.
"Nice try." With that he jumped the fence, landing behind the cat so he further blocked off its means to escape. "Lying won't get you anywhere with me. Who are you?" The better question would be "What are you?" but for now he could settle for a name.

Startled, he jumped back from the officer and smiled, as much as a cat could smile which was pretty well.
"Meow?" He tried, but saw it wasn't working at all. An energy signature on a cat was a pretty good giveaway that things weren't right or normal.
"I'm....Arthur? Who are you?" He said, hoping for a pleasant conversation while slowly backing away.

He was more of a dog person, but even he had to admit that a smiling cat was kind of cute.
The lieutenant shook the thought and tried to close the distance between them without being too obvious, so he walked in step with Arthur. "Carminite. I've read about talking cats before, but I've gotta say...it's kinda one of the freakiest things I've seen in a while."
Pleasant conversation would certainly be a possibility if he didn't try anything funny.

Oh, he was talking...but he was also walking. That wasn't good. Close meant attack or starseed pulling.
"Well, we're Mauvians, but you have them on your side. You should talk to them. They are very lovely." He said.
"Anything you want to know?"

He'd only ever heard of them, never actually seen them, so he gave a shrug. "I might if I ever run into 'em," he said, taking a stride that got him a bit closer to the Mauvian.
And then he quirked a brow at the offer of information, and he shrugged again. "Mostly if it's possible to take energy from you things, too."
He took another stride before he lunged at the cat, hoping to pin it against the wall to get a real world experience answer to his question.

It worked, and he felt the weight of the man pressing into his fur and the ground sandwiching him. "No. Wait.....It's not a lot. Not worth it. Let's just talk." He gasped, feeling it hard to breath from the weight on him.
He didn't know about Mauvians. He still had his beam.

Carminite had his eyes narrowed on the Mauvian, wondering if there was some funny business up his proverbial sleeve. He didn't see much of a reason to trust him so he didn't let up.
"All energy's worth it," he said as he set two fingers on Arthur's furry little chest, palm open as he pulled his focus.
"At least that's what I think. And it's probably more worth it from someone like you."

Anyone who tried to pin a cat would know one thing. Cats were not the softest, tenderest animals to touch when they were upset or scared.
Ears back and eyes dilating, he started to bite the hand at his chest and use his claws to grab the hand and claw into any skin he could find, growling as he tried to keep the hand away.
"Stop." He growled as he went to bite the hand again.

It was lucky, at least for most of the cat's attempts and biting and clawing, that his braces were fairly solid material that blocked a lot of the damage. The bite to his hand made his flinch but it wasn't enough to make him back off, so he gritted his teeth and did his best to focus, hoping for the faint beginnings of an energy crystal to form in his open palm.
"It's just a test run, relax. Shouldn't hurt that much."

He felt cold as energy was pulled from his starseed. Who in their right mind would think he was a large enough source of energy then gain, he gave off a decent energy signature. Maybe he was a treasure trove for the Negaverse.
His struggling became less active and knew he wouldn't stand it much longer. Aiming his brow, the star on his head glowed before a beam of light shot out at the officer.
_ p a o cx I'm guess that Mauvians can be drained.
