frayedflower As Halloween draws near, a good number of the shops at the local mall have decided to take part in the festivities by handing out candy bars and bite-sized goodies to all of the customers who stop by. You score a fair amount of sweets while you're out and about. After you consume a handful of them, though, you discover you don't feel.. quite right. You can't put your finger on why you don't feel right but soon the side effects from your candy munching come to light. When you sweat, your perspiration is noticeably brown and smells sickeningly sweet... almost like chocolate. In fact, your natural scent has seemed to take on a more sweet approach, as if you were a walking candy bar yourself. You've got no clue which shop handed out the cursed candy but the saccharine effect on you lasts for an entire day, until the candy has made it out of your system.
Not for the first time in the last 12 hours, General Titanite lifted her arm and sniffed at her armpit, consternation crossing her features. She had... never had chocolate that worked quite like this, and it was a little uncomfortable. A lot uncomfortable. The white tank top she had worn to the gym as Shahar had been ruined by some kind of muddy brown sweat, slicking her pores and her back, and...
It didn't feel like chocolate. That was a reassurance. Her sweat was just.... brown. And sickly-sweet. And still tasted like sweat, unfortunately- this whole drama would have been made so much better if she actually tasted as delightful as she smelled from a distance. As for how it had happened... well. That, Shahar was curious about. It must have had something to do with the monstrous mass of candy she'd stuffed down her gullet, but...
She had gone to so many places during her candy hunt, and this really took the phrase You are what you Eat to a simply unnecessary level. Not for the first time, and probably not for the last, she allowed herself to ponder the question: Why was this her life? Why did Destiny City have to do her like this? What had she done to it?
Dropping her arm, she huffed out a sigh, stretching out her long legs in front of her as she lounged on a park bench, dropping chocolate-scented sweat, and glad her uniform was black.

Kainite was delighted to be back in the thick of it. Back in the city, patrolling for the goal of great justice like the triumphant champion of justice, making bossman proud and all that. Making a different one day at a time! Mostly by gathering energy for - whatever they used it for. He didn't overthink it too much. The guy getting coffee in a company didn't ask why. It was necessary, so he did it, and if he did it well, they'd see how amazing he was and acknowledge it sooner rather than later. Then bossman would be impressed, and then - Oh, hey, a general! "Good evening!" he greeted eagerly, then paused, tilting his head to a side. "Uh. Sorry, miss, you got a little - uh - " he pointed to her forehead and the streak of damp brown there. How? - maybe mud wrestling? Probably mud wrestling.

The feeling of another aura approaching her got little attention from the General- it was a smaller aura, weaker, and had that same distorted, white-noise feeling that she got from other agents, sort of like a bad television signal through the antenna. It wasn't that cutting brightness of the Order members, so... chances were good it would be little trouble to her.
As the steps pulled closer, the General rolled her shoulders, cracking her shoulders and upper spine before tilting her head to peer in the general direction of the approaching person, letting her lips part in a tooth-baring grin as the agent- a he, by the looks of it- opened his mouth to give her a cheerful good evening. “Good evening to you as well,” she chirped back, the 'd' and 'g' of her greeting particularly precise and carefully enunciated.
“You do not need to call me miss.” her voice was not sharp, it was languid and lazy, her words just as precise and carefully enunciated as the phrase before. “My name is Titanite.” she lifted one large, calloused, partly-gloved hand to her forehead, wiping at the spot he had so indicated- and sighing. More chocolate-sweat, it seemed, and now her secret was out.
She pushed her torso straighter, and considered the Lieutenant in front of her for a moment, taking in hair that looked almost bronzey-green in the dark, and eyes she could not tell if they were pink or red. He looked enthusiastic, however, and she could hardly complain about that. “So I do.” Have a little uh, that was. “It is gone, until I sweat again. I am suffering from an unusual affliction, Lieutenant, and I can only hope I get a cure soon.”

Like most generals seemed to, she had an easy, confident way about her that commanded respect. Not the same as his superior (no one was really like Auro, but he could be biased in thinking the best general had singled out the best recruit), but that wasn't a bad thing. "Pleasure, Titanite, " and he bowed politely, overblown and dramatic, but respectful enough. He liked to think he did the respectful thing better than most, although granted he thought that about a lot of things, and most people weren't too inclined to agree. "I'm Kainite, " and god it was such a kinder name than Wilbur, wasn't it? Titan and Kain. Easy enough to remember, right? Some people's names were a real mouthful. Unusual affliction? He blinked, confused. "I wouldn't call a passion for mud wrestling an affliction. I think it's a fine sport. Or - no?" Was he wrong? "Is it something else?"

Oh, he was so polite. It was adorable, and Titanite was hard-pressed not to laugh at him. He practically stank of newness, and she could only imagine which General had taken him unto themselves. So many of them liked such manners in their underlings, and obsequiousness that spoke of the ability to be easily trained to serve their Queen. But spoke little of thinking freely. "Kainite." she let his name drip off her tongue before smiling. "I will call you Kain." It wasn't a question.
She leaned back, wriggling her arm in his direction. "I seem to be sweating chocolate." with the same bland matter-of-factness that she had delivered the name she would call him by, she moved on. "It is not mud wrestling, though I will say that can be a fine diversion, in good company." she leaned up, tapping her finger towards his nose. "I smell deceptively sweet. It is false advertising, and it is not pleasing."
Leaning forward, she added, "I do not own brown sheets. Or clothing that could handle this. And I do not want to try and wash chocolate down my bathtub drain. This is distressing." Yet... she did not sound as distressed as she felt. Her tone, at this point, was almost.... resigned.

Just that easy, Kainite rolled with it. "Okay - does that mean I can stick with Titan?" It only seemed fair and all, although he hoped he wouldn't get docked points for manners or whatever. Some people got super touchy. Either way, he grinned back. Although the smile was fast replaced by confusion, because wow - Kainite wasn't easy to catch off-guard, but yup, sweating chocolate would just about do it for anything. "Oh? - does it really not taste good? - you really tasted it? - is it like sweaty chocolate? Or dark chocolate?" and he kind of wrinkled his nose; Wilbur was not really a fan. Super sweet was the way to go for sure. Then, though, "I mean, on the plus side, this would actually be an ideal time to take up the whole mud wrestling thing. I mean, it's not as if you'd have anything to lose since you're already messy, and - wait, but why are you sweating chocolate again?" which honestly probably should have been the question to lead with in a situation like this. "You haven't always done that, right? - instead of fondue, this is a fon'don't, " and his expression didn't change, but Kainite was mighty pleased with himself for that little pun. He was the master of comedic timing and all.

Shahar blinked at him for a moment- she was sweating chocolate, and his list of questions was almost distressingly normal, and logical, at least some of them. "I do not care if you call me Titan," she said after a moment, shoulder lifting in a shrug, "I am, after all, nicknaming you too. Reciprocity, and all. fairness." oh, he had a cute little grin.
She wrinkled her nose at him after a moment though, heaving out a sigh. "It really does not taste good," she confirmed sadly, "I did not realize, at first, what was happening, and by the time that I did..." her voice trailed off. She had honestly thought she'd found some leftover chocolate syrup, at first. She hadn't thought about just how long she might have been wandering around with it on her, or how damp it felt. No- she was distracted by oooh, chocolate!. "It is very much sweaty chocolate. Not dark. Not even chocolate. It is a lie." It was just sweetly-scented temptation torment.
There was genuine despair lurking in her eyes as she gave him another shrug. "I- I do not usually sweat chocolate, no, and I do not want to pick up mud wrestling." Shahar didn't mean to sound petulant, scowling at his terrible joke. "That was awful. Not a joke to be proud of, Kain." she shook her head, nose wrinkling impressively with profound disapproval. The kind of disapproval that most comedians seemed to chortle at, and revel in.
No. This was just- she shifted, rolling out her arms and legs. Stretched her arms above her head, pressing her spine against the back of the bench until her shoulders and upper back cracked. "But why chocolate? I know I ate a lot of sweets today, but I did nothing to deserve this. I did not steal from any small children, or anything."

Titan; thankfully she didn't mind it. Much easier to roll off the tongue for one, and honestly, it was befitting a general of such stature if he did say so himself. (Nailed it.) The real tragedy honestly wasn't that it was happening to her, but that the flavor suffered for it, and he shot her a sympathetic look. Honestly, what was the point in sweating chocolate if it wasn't even good chocolate? (He was still pleased about that pun whatever she said, and the look in his eyes gave it away.) "It's like something out of Willy Wonka, " he lamented. "You know, how that one girl turned into a blueberry and all, and she had to get juiced - luckily you don't juice chocolate, " and he blinked furiously at the thought because frankly he'd never given much thought to how any one person would be 'juiced' before now. "But anyway, maybe someone slipped you an experimental candy like that. Like secret market research. How long has this been going on now?"
