The morning had been a whirlwind of getting the twins out the door to school, and then dropping Hope off at the day care, and then dealing with one of the contractors, and actual work that didn't consist of wearing nice clothes or trying to parent. Honestly, how people managed 18 years of this was going to be the eternal mystery- and this was one of those mornings where she really had to second guess her plan to have more, one day.
But the afternoon- the afternoon was going to be awesome. She'd planned this lunch date with Genevieve just a couple of days before- as little time as possible for something to happen and screw up her plans. When was the last time she'd gone out shopping for the heck of it, much less just met a girlfriend at a restaurant with the intention of going and spending a gross amount of money for no good reason?
What had happened to her? It was like she was getting old, and of her list of girlfriends... much as she loved Christa, the other woman wasn't aware of how to marathon shop.... at all. So around 11:30, Jada swung into the restaurant, tucking her sunglasses into her purse and taking a seat at the table she'd reserved. Everything was busy around her, the lunch rush starting to trickle in alongside her, weekday workers on their breaks.
Turning her eyes to the menu in front of her, she let a fingernail tap against the table, mind wandering far from the lunch entrees. The mall had a lot of stores- and Jada had brought the car with the big trunk. Aidan needed new- no! Today was for her. She was going to be selfish, and enjoy time out with a girlfriend!

Genevieve has been surprised, but pleasantly so, when Jada had called her. It had been along time since she'd spoken to the other and she was happy to hear from her. The other was one of the few friends she still had who enjoyed shopping, as much as she herself did, and Jada was easy to get along with. They were both senshi so she could always talk about that, without saying anything which would give them away in public, and the other understood. It was all good.
The lunch date was a great idea, something she jumped on board with quickly, so when the time came she was rushing right into the restaurant and tucking her sunglasses into their case, which was in her purse, Genevieve asked for the table and being shown to it she seated herself. "Jada, it's been so long. How is everything? I know you must be busy." She was sure of that - very sure. Why else would the other not have been around for so long?
"I haven't seen you out during the day...or at night. Not that I've been out a lot at night myself - I do sort of feel bad." She did...she felt guilty. She was a senshi and she should be out doing senshi things...she really should.
"Enough of that though....I've just missed you."

Her leg jittered with excitement as she waited for Genevieve to arrive, and when she caught sight of the younger woman making her way to the table... Jada could practically feel her entire face lighten, and if it wasnt for how quickly the table was approached, she may have jumped up to greet her. "Thank you so much for meeting to with me." Her voice was a delighted gush, her joy at seeing another friend probably horrifically palpable. She wasn't 3! Or 8! Or male! Or staff! Or- "It has been forever. I am so sorry. Settling in with everything with my daughter, getting her records from Italy, and the legal drama, and getting her birth certificates updated..." She paused, shaking her head. "You dont even know that family drama there. Needless to say, between this all, and the twins, I have just been... Mom. And you know Christa- she is a treasure, but she isn't exactly enthusiastic about random clothes shopping." She reached out her hand, small, slender wingers wiggling to encourage Genevieve to give it a quick squeeze hello. "I haven't been out at night myself. I go visiting once or twice a week, but usually during the day." She laughed. "Sometimes it feels like I'm the only one home during those hours." It was hard, taking her daughter to daycare just so she could visit her homeworld, but watching the planet thrive... Knowing she couldn't trust a three year old to keep... Well. "That is really all for me. Work, Parenthood, Screaming into the ether how badly i want to buy a new pair of shoes and maybe one of those Armani dresses..." Her sigh was soft, dreamy. "How about you? What have you been up to?" She smiled up at the waiter as he approached, quickly ordering a water and a dip for an appetizer. "I need all the details!"

"No, Christa certainly isn't. She isn't much for fashion or shopping and isn't as social as either of us are." But Christa was an amazing individual, she really was, she was great for training and a great friend to have around and even live with. Genevieve wouldn't undo being friends with Christa or moving her in - ever.
"No, I don't know of the family drama but I'm glad it seems to be easing up for you. Drama, at least the sort you seem to have dealt with, is never good. Some drama was always good, in proper measure, but there was the wrong and the good sort of drama. Grasping the others fingers and squeezing she was smiling happily at the other. "it just means we have a lot of shopping to do - to get over all the drama and make up for all the time not spent shopping." And having fun.
"Oh...during the day. Around this city?" She questioned before smiling. "I could show you where I like to go on my own...though I did take Christa once. But going out at night around here is also nice, though I don't as much as I should."
Ordering for herself as well she waited till the waiter was gone before answering, with a smile of her own. "Shopping - lots of it .I also adopted more kittens...so I'm nearly drowning in them. But in a big house you hardly notice them most of the time...unless you happen across one or they come for attention or something." She had far too many now, at least most would say that. But in her home it didn't seem like it, far from it in fact.
"I couldn't help it though. They are cute. So I've been busy taking care of a small army of cats and kittens." Not parenthood but close enough - right?

Jada's laugh turned into a small cough as she almost choked on her sip of water at Genevieve's agreement on their friend. "No respect for haute couture," Jada said with a playfully heavy sigh, "Not even for the shoes. It's tragic, but she makes up fot it in a million other ways." like bringing over brownies when Jada was weeping over pixels, and being the best moral support basically ever.
Her fingers squeezed, Jada relaxed, squeezing back quickly and eyes shining. "I won't bore you with the details. We're here for a good day out. It is definitely easing up, though, so I'm really looking forward to this outing." her grin turned mischievous, and she straightened up a bit, shifting to cross her feet. "I brought the car with the really big trunk, so I'm going all out today." And no one was going to stop her, and 80% of the items would be for her or as gifts, not for the kids.
"I'm always willing to take recommendations on places to spend the day. I'm going to be settling back into a routine, soon. Set aside some time to stargaze, or pick back up some hobbies. We still own horses, and I could pick up some work requiring travel again. Go out at night- art openings, a little bit of theater, or other such adventures."
Her face brightened at the mention of kittens, eyes crinkling at the corners. "nothing wrong with drowning in kittens as long as they are cared for and can't be smelled. Giulia and Aidan really want pets, and a couple years ago I almost got them a dog. Castor is such a pain for company, though- he hates humans, and animals, and... everything, actually." The toyger made an excellent guard cat, even with his few 'hate' exceptions. "How many do you have? Did you pick them up from a shelter, or were they feral?" and more importantly- "Do you have pictures?"

"I doubt she even knows what that is. It's whatever is comfortable for her...and practical." At least that's how it seemed with their mutual friend, not that she minded. The only issue was that Genevieve needed someone who understood such fashion and appreciated it. "She does indeed. She is worth so much, really she is." But there were just times when you needed a friend who understood fashion - properly.
"Ohh, now that sounds good. I like that idea - a lot. Eventually we should go out with your family and really do some full family shopping. Today though is just us." Just the adults doing some shopping - some proper shopping.
"Well, it certainly sounds like you're going to be busy soon..and open to having people accompany you on some of these things. Perhaps a few nights out - a few night trips." Trips to homeworlds, that would be nice, she wouldn't mind taking the other to her homeworld. Christa has seen it so why not Jada? She had a feeling the other might like it in fact.
"Six cats and one kitten...and of course I have pictures." That had her reaching into her purse and pulling out her cell phone. Unlocking the screen she started to pull up pictures, scooting her chair closer to Jada so she could show her the pictures. "They are all from the shelter. The six main ones are siblings and the other one lost his whole family. So I thought I'd adopt him and give him a big family." She answered wit ha smile while showing off the pictures she had on her phone. It was an adorable, fluffy, family of kitties.
"If you ever want to bring the kids over you can and they can see the kittens." Even the older ones were considered kittens, they'd always be her babies no matter how old.

Comfort and practicality. Jada's lips curved in a fond smile, thinking of Christa and her distinct preference for 'black, and no cleavage, Jada'. her friend hadn't figured out quite yet that someday, her determination not to be in the spotlight was going to put her square in it, standing out in a glittering assembly like a strangely-manicured thumb. She was a phenomenal friend, however, regardless of her being fashion-challenged, and Jada wouldn't trade her. "I have two little girls who need to be properly trained to appreciate a diverse wardrobe," Jada agreed, eyes twinkling, "Though I think Aidan is going to be a jeans and a t-shirt kind of kid, rather than liking mini suits. He takes a lot after Lucas- our half brother. Giulia, my half-sister, she's already demanding couture dresses because they are 'delicate and shiny', so she'll be an easy sell. She's 8 though, so it will be a while before we can shop the same stores."
She leaned back as the waiter brought the dip, setting it between them. "Night trips could be nice. There are so many interesting things to see around town. Maybe do a little bit of stargazing, on the outskirts. Do you ride horses, Genevieve?" Not that they had horses on Scylla, or... that she thought she could actually manage to... could she teleport horses to Scylla with them? Bringing them home too, of course, but that... could be terribly useful for travel and exploration. "I'd love to have company sometime. Christa's gone trekking with me once, but it wasn't simply for fun."
She leaned in again as Genevieve went for her phone, pulling up pictures of her fur babies. "Oh, that is precious. I think the kids would love to meet them.We will definitely have to do that sometime!"

"Well then...jeans and shirts we can manage - I'm sure...however boring that may be. There are always simple ways to dress up such a look. But your half sister sounds promising. We can certainly work with her at age appropriate stores and work her up into the places we go shopping." Oh, the idea of taking two kids shopping was a good one! She hadn't been clothing shopping in a children's department since she herself was a child. "it sounds like Aiden might wind up like Christa...simple, comfortable, and practical." Which wasn't a problem...aside from how boring it would be. "We'll work with it." Shrugging she smiled. It would be easy to do, at least for them it would be.
"I only rode once and the horse didn't seem to like me...he preferred to take off at a run...when I was hoping for something slower." For a first time anyway. But the horse had spooked, or something, and taken off with her clinging to the saddle and the reins. "I wouldn't mind giving it a try again. Stargazing however would be nice. I've brought Christa with me as well...I would love to bring you with me sometime as well for a nice late night stroll. It's pleasant." She leaned forward now, almost too close. "It's rather gothic and dark in nature...but rich - very rich. Think vampire movies that aren't Twilight." She said with a wink to her friend before sitting back up in her seat properly.
"Aren't they? You really should come with the children .perhaps for some Halloween fun? Pumpkin carving and making some treats? I can get the baking goods and we can make a night of it, with some child friendly Halloween movies and shows as well?" She was good with planning parties, even things this simple, though she did prefer the idea of planning big huge parties. "I wish we could have a special nighttime party for Halloween...I know just what I'd do." Go to her homeworld and bring plenty of people - lots of people. Her homeworld was perfect for it.

Jada's lips quirked in a warm little smile- this was almost the best she had felt in a while, relaxing in public with a friend, one of her favorite hobbies ahead of her. "Not all of my siblings got my sense of fashion." It was amazing Giulia had, though seeing what happened once she was out of Princess stage would be something to keep an eye on. Zora had never appreciated dressing up, at least until Kayley died. Any interest in fashion her sister had now almost felt like Survivor's Guilt. And Lucas had never needed to worry about anything more than plopping on a suit and tie- his value hadn't hinged on his ability to dress well. "Nothing wrong with being comfortable and practical. We just need to work on the timing."
She leaned back in her seat, the waiter sidling by to bring their entrees. "I have two," she told Genevieve, "Lady Luck, and Talon. Lady was my mare when I was learning to ride. A bit on in years, now, but a gentle ride, if you would like to go on an adventure." A picnic, perhaps, or... they could let the horses enjoy a little freedom on Scylla, if it worked out?
"I'd love to go Stargazing," she said easily, eyes lighting, "I... have had a few status changes since we last went out together." Scylla hadn't announced her transcendence, and rather than patrolling with people, her nights had been spent on her homeworld, or harassing youma. "I've been a bit more like... Christa." her hand waved, probably meaning nothing to Genevieve.
"A Halloween party sounds fantastic. If we make a proper night of it, we can have an adults-only party when the kids inevitably pass out."

"Yes, there is always a time and place for comfortable and practicle clothing. It's not always a good thing...unlike what some people seem to think...or at least dress like." She said rolling her eyes a bit. Thanking the waiter when he came over with the next course of food. It really did look, and smell, amazing.
"I think that might be best, a horse that's less likely to toss me or take me for a run like the first one did. I'd rather not repeat that...I felt like a fool and nearly wound up in a hospital bed." It had not been as fun as she'd hoped it would be. She'd not gotten back in the saddle, as the saying went, after that. She'd stayed clear of horses in fact.
"Status changes...you'll have to tell me about that. Perhaps tonight we could go out and you tell me about it? I mean especially if you're like Christa. We can do some late night exploring together - on me." Well on her home world she meant, she hoped the other understood. It was likely that Jada did. "Just be prepared for a bit of a dark adventure..." Shrugging a bit. She knew what her home world was like, or at least one home was like. She had had yet to venture outside of it, maybe tonight would be a good time to do that? It had also been awhile since she'd been there. She needed to fix that...a lot.
"Yes, that sounds like a good idea. Just the two of us...unless we can get Christa to join us. That would be perfect then. Once the kids fall asleep we can put on some better movies and curl up together to watch them. It would be nice. A good way of destressing for all three of us." Or two, depending on if Christa joined them or not. "We can get some...more adult snacks as well...and drinks."Infinities So close on getting her to eternal needs...but I wanna get her to transcended...somehow. more homeworld things needed. Jada...make her go more!

"I promise," Jada assured with wide eyes, "I will not let you fall off a horse. No hospitals for you, my dear. Lady Luck is the gentlest creature, and if she misbehaves even a step, I'll let Talon bite her. Worst case scenario you can ride double with me- we aren't terribly heavy, and Talon is a big boy." She would definitely be making sure everything as secure as a second set of eyes- both her horses had their tricks, and this would be a momentous trip around, and optimistically drama free.
"I think I'll be free tonight after I put the kids to bed," she said with a smile, excitement growing at the idea of sharing her poorly-hidden 'secret', "You can even come over for dinner if you like, they love company. That will give us a bit more time. And a dark adventure sounds absolutely chilling this close to Halloween." she dropped her chin to her fist, eyes bright. "I think Christa might be convinceable. I have a nice big library she wants to keep having access to, after all." Not that she would threaten to take away Christa's library card if Christa didn't come to girl night with their friend, but...
Well.
Maybe she would. Girl nights were very important! "I think there are a few spooky TV shows coming out on some of the streaming services around that time too. Make a grown-up night of it, play with some kitties, and maybe go for a wander later in the evening." It sounded like a glorious idea to Jada, and she let her excitement spill over as she dug into her food.
The faster she ate, the sooner she could shop! "Any opinions on the stores we go by first? I need some new underthings, so we'll be swinging by a couple places for those... But I think there are some new dress places, right? And I need to check all the shoe stores. And wasn't there a new place that does stuff like-" her voice dropped low- "Corsetry?"

"That would be good...to make sure it goes well. The offer to ride double is appreciated, lets hope it doesn't come to that though." She hoped it didn't, she wanted to be able to ride on her own. She wouldn't be upset if it went poorly though, at least not that upset, so long as she didn't get too hurt.
"Ohh, dinner together would be lovely. We can cook something, if you want, together and have the children help if they want?" She offered, already figuring if they did such she'd help make sure the kids were safe. It was a lovely idea though and getting to know her friends family was good, it always was nice when a friends family welcomed you.
"Mmm, it's perfect for Halloween. I mean - you do know the theme." Or rather her sphere. Vampires was perfect for dark and creepy things and that was perfect, as Jada said, for this time of year. "I want to clean things up...slowly. I've not gone over enough though...but it'll take forever it feels like." It felt like the single house was massive, with a whole second half of the house being hidden. She wasn't sure what to expect outside the house and on the streets, assuming there were streets...she felt like there were though.
"I think that would be a perfect way to spend a girls night! Oh! I think Christa will love it as well! We should schedule girls nights out on the city as well! " Nights for just the three of them to patrol, two eternals and a super. It would be amazing!
"We could hit up the designer stores...or maybe for undergarments Victoria's secret. They should have some of the new winter looks out? I've never been too fond of the summer looks." The colors just weren't her thing, or the materials either. "They make sizes for us both there. We can hit up some high end stores then and dresses...then end it with the last shop." Which wasn't the sort of store she'd ever been to. Corsets hadn't ever been something she'd thought of, but it was interesting to think about....a little bit anyway. Digging into her own food, in an effort to finish it off quickly, she just hoped she didn't eat too fast and become sick or get that bloated look.[ Oh, what they must look like to those around them. Two prim and proper looking ladies stuffing their faces as quickly as they could. Not that she cared, not at the moment anyway, she wanted to get to some serious shopping!/color]

Jada just grinned, waving her hand. "Hopefully it won't. Lady is a good girl. I'm sure you'll be fine." Jada took a moment to dig into her food, closing her eyes at the flavor. Yummmmm. When was the last time she'd eaten out with a friend, instead of having Cookie make them something, or something the kids had made, or called for takeout? Like... a proper sit-down restaurant, not a party, or a benefit, where the food was prettily-dressed appetizers?
"I'd set your kitchen on fire," she admitted, taking a sip of water, "but Giulia and Aidan are learning to cook from both Hope's dad and our chef. They at least know what end of the carrot to start at, and the difference between basil and rosemary." Jada still hadn't lived that one down. "They're better with desserts, Aidan can make a mean chocolate chip cookie with some assistance." It worked out better for Jada, too, with her sweet tooth.
"Take your time with it," she suggested, "I think it was a movie that said to just claim one piece at a time, introduce yourself slowly. Unlike me, I just... dove right in." Literally. Though, she had never taken Genevieve to Scylla, had she? Looked like there was more than one day trip on the horizon! "Don't forget some bottled water," she suggested, "and soft rags." It had taken forever to get Andromache's old bedroom cleaned up, even if the rest of the temple shone now like it was new-built, even without her intervention. "And you'll be surprised- sometimes things just... perk up, all on their own." Then again, she had been awakened for... a long time, now. Things might take longer than she realized, or maybe it was the years of weekly visits, even when they had only been to yell abuse at her homeworld.
She grinned, waving her fork. "Definitely a girls night!" she agreed, and her leg bounced under the table, her cheer making itself known. "Paint the town!" not literally- that would have people griping about terrorist graffiti.
A glance down at her bosom had Jada clearing her throat. "Their sizes are a bit... iffy for me," she admitted blandly, "I tend to need a bigger cup than they carry in common stock." It didn't mean she wouldn't give it a try, though, even if their clientele was a slightly different female figure. Too short and too curvy had been the curse of her life, but she'd managed to make a career out of her other features. "We'll have to see what new stores there are in here too. When was the last time I bought something for myself off the rack?" The fact she was delighted about it was probably a sign that she'd been locked up too long.

"I can cook well enough...and we can cook - you can watch?" She offered with with a teasing smile to her friend. "That way we don't need to call the fire department...although I'm sure some of them are rather good looking." She added the last bit with even more of a smile. "We'll have to work on some things then. Cookies and dinner of some sort. I'd rather cook than get take out - that's too easy." And half the times not as good as you'd wish, even if it was from a good place. By the time it arrived...it just wasn't as warm and sauces had thinned...or thickened. It just wasn't as good.
"I'll keep that in mind...and cleaning will be a need...a lot of it. There is a lot of old wood..moth eaten fabrics...and more." A lot she wished could just be replaced with new things...if only so the old could be removed and replaced because the old, moth eaten, curtains were in the way and a wreck. "Fire damage too it looks like...but not a lot surprisingly."
"Yes! Paint the town." She agreed and stabbed at her food in enthusiasm, the idea had her filled with such energy. "I can't wait!"
Nodding her head, in understanding, Genevieve smiled and reached out to her friend. "No worries. We'll see if they have anything you can fit. Get whatever you like that you fit and go from there." Since for Genevieve that wasn't an issue. She easily fit sizes they had, all too easily, she was a common enough size her issue was them being sold out of what she wanted. They either had too small or much too big for her.
"There are a good amount of new stores. I'm sure some holiday ones are even starting to turn up - you know how it is." Pushing Christmas as soon as they could...even before Halloween...it did bother her to be honest...but what could you do about it? it was what it was.
Making fast work of her meal she settled her fork down as soon as she could, and went for the last of her drink as it was needed.Infinities I really wanna get my girl to transcend...bite like marks and drips down her neck...pls Jada get her going more and more...

"I cook great takeout," Jada defended herself, and her frequent cuisine of (involuntary) choice. "And I hire great cooks, okay." Neither of these things had any bearing on her ability or inability to do anything to food other than consume it, but damn if she wasn't gonna try. "But yes, good-looking firemen or not, we want to avoid bothering them if we don't have to. I'm not sure anyone would understand why I was just leaning against the car outside like 'please, Mr. Fireman, rescue meee.'" her lips quirked with humor, and she resumed her pace, inhaling her meal as much as she could to match Genevieve's pace. "I can bring some of the things I used when I cleaned my place up. I found it therapeutic, actually, and a good bonding experience. Lots of... memories, of old things. You can get help, too, but maybe only for heavy lifting or elbow grease. So you don't... miss anything." She swallowed. "Fire damage wasn't a problem for me. Finding ice cubes in weird locations, that was."
She beamed at Genevieve's understanding of her complaint, sighing. "They fit so well when I was younger, and I love some of their undergarments. I also liked Frederick's, but I hardly see them anywhere anymore." she sighed, leaning over to grab at her bread- she would have to put some extra work into her workout tomorrow morning, to deal with this food! Though, optimistically, her shopping spree would take up a lot of this extra gluttony. But there was a bakery in this mall, and she wanted cookies, okay?
"Holiday stores would be awesommme!" she chirped, hiding her mouth with her hand so she didn't spray. "I haven't bought anything cute like that in forever, I've been sticking with generic, or stuff offline. Do you know how much stuff I've bought offline?" her tone was horrified as she said, "Almost everything currently in my closet. I have MISSED retail therapy, Genevieve. I have NEEDED it." Desperately. Jada shoved her plate away a few minutes after Genevieve, pressing her hand to her stomach. "I'm going to avoid pants shopping for a bit though, until the food calms down."
