Lady Angel Heart Megan looked at her phone anxiously. She knew she needed to give an answer before the weekend if they were to keep the appointment. She sighed and walked into the other room where her son Riley was curled up asleep with their pet Kidden pumpkin. Riley was the best thing to ever happen to her and she'd never take that day back but now she had the opportunity to have a biological child and she didn't know when that might happen again. Earlier this morning she had received a call from her friend Violet. The two met about two years ago through an organization centered around young single women looking to imbune and become single mothers. This was before Megan discovered she was lacking in enough magic to imbune a stone herself. Megan hadn't gone back to any of the meetings since but her and Violet remained close friends. She has been like an aunt to Riley and he loves it when she comes to visit. It turns out Violet had decided to go through with the imbuing process but the clinic only had slots open for couples who would both imbune one stone. Since Megan was a little low and Violet had enough to spare, the two of them could easily imbune both stones, if Megan agreed. Not really sure what choice was the right one she sat on the couch next to her sleeping child and weighed her options.

Midnight Holographic Violet had never been so nervous even when she went to that first single's mother meeting all of two years ago. At that point she didn't know what to expect, but what eased her worries was how quickly she made friends with Megan. While Megan hadn't come back to the group after the first meeting, the two of them remained friends and started meeting up outside of the group. It felt so natural and gave Violet hope that she would meet and connect with others similarly how she did with Megan, but after months turned to years Violet's disposition changed. Every two weeks Violet took an all day trip into the city from the rural area where her coven was. At first the trips were exciting and a good opportunity to do shopping during the day before the meet, but after too many months of little luck Violet began to doubt wether or not this was going to work. She just wasn't connecting with anyone the same way she way she had the first time she went and the trips in the city were over time were becoming depressing. Something needed to change because this wasn't healthy. At the time Violet had began to realise this Megan had just adopted her first child Riley and what a joy it was watching Megan interact with her new child. Her friend was practically glowing. She had always known that Megan had what it took to be a parent, but seeing it in action confirmed everything she already knew about her friend. Then it clicked. Something she dismissed after Megan stopped coming to the group meetings and why hadn't she thought about it before. No wonder she couldn't find the right person, what she had been looking in a platonic imbuing partner was in front of her this entire time. No one was ever going to connect with her the same way Megan did because the bond that that the two of them shared was special and wasn't going to be easially found again at some group meeting. What worried her now after realising as much was potentially changing what they already had now. Violet didn't want to pressure Megan into an arrangement she wasn't comfortable with because Megan wanted to do something for her friend. She also didn't want to change the nature of their relationship either. Megan was her best friend at this point more than anything Violet was concerned about was making sure that if Megan said yes it was for the right reasons. Megan also had Riley to consider, of whom she was basically an aunt for. If Riley wasn't ready for a sibling than without a doubt she wasn't going to push the subject further. This was a lot to contemplate on the trip towards Megan's house, and Violet fidgeted the entire time with her phone on the way there. She was getting close now. Only a few houses away passed this ridge and soon she would be at her friend's doorsteps. Looking out the window hoping for some relief from her thoughts Violet cast her gaze over the Academy.

Lady Angel Heart By the time Violet arrived Megan had put Riley to bed and made them both coffee. Megan knew the routine of her visits down pat by now. Arrive late, make brunch the following morning. She didn't really know why Violet didn't wait to tell her all this in person but perhaps she was too scared to see the physical reaction. Well they were going to have to talk about it now, the elephant was in the room. The duo sat down at the table. Violet apologized for the last minute notice but the clinic called and there must've been a mix up because they said they had an opening for her and her partner but she didn't want to miss out. Megan was sympathetic, but that was just her personality. "Are you sure you want to do this now? I'm sure there will be other openings." the expression on her friend's face was enough of an answer. "Well... Riley is just getting comfortable here.. and I don't know how he'd react to a baby brother or sister...". Violet understood but brought up a valid point. The clinic not does not require you to awake the stones right away since most people tend to want to awaken their stones at home with family. She could always bring the stone home and keep them safe until she was ready. Violet would probably be ready the instant the magic was sealed. She'd never met someone so eager to have a child besides herself. Megan sighed. She did have a lot of room in this big house of hers, it was clearly meant for a much larger family than a single mother and her child. "I suppose I'll have to find a husband who wants a big family huh?" Megan smiled softly trying to lighten the mood. She knew Violet wanted an answer. "If it really means that much to you...I'll try" She paused "We won't have to kiss or nothing right? Cuz I'm a good actor but I dunno if I can go that far. Your family so that would just be weird" Starring down into her now empty coffee mug she walked over to the coffee machine and loaded in another cup of autumn spice, her favorite brand.

Midnight Holographic Violet waited at the doorframe into young Riley's room watching Megan as she tucked her son into bed. It was bittersweet watching the interaction, and Violet mentally checked herself for feeling that way. Megan deserved this, and Violet wasn't so desperate to start a family that she would feel jealous of Megan for starting her own. As Megan turned away from the bed to walk towards the door Violet pushed off the brace of the doorframe to stand up straight in anticipation to give her friend room to move out into the hallway. Before Megan shut the door Violet waved goodnight to Riley and the two descended down the stairs for some well needed coffee. "Sorry, I should have came sooner in the day. I would have been able to spend dinner with you two at least and actually got to be around both you and Riley before he had to go to bed, but you know what the trip is like from my place to your's." Megan didn't seem to mind and probably for the fact that this was how it was most nights she came to visit. They would spend more time together as a group in the morning, but that wasn't really what was on Violet's mind. She felt apologetic, but not for coming late. She felt bad pushing this question on her friend, like somehow she expected that it would be a burden to Megan and Riley. She didn't want to muck things up for either of them when they are only just getting settled into their new life. Megan broke the silence as if she knew exactly what Violet was thinking about. "Are you sure you want to do this now? I'm sure there will be other openings", "Well... Riley is just getting comfortable here.. and I don't know how he'd react to a baby brother or sister. . ." Violet glanced from meeting Megan's gaze to the depths of her black coffee. This only confirmed her doubts that this wasn't a good time for Megan or Riley. "I don't want to push you to say yes, but if we were to do this now you wouldn't have to awaken the stone right away. You could choose a time that's better for you and Riley." Violet tried her best to sound reasonable and to keep her voice from sounding shaky or desperate. The last thing she would want is for her friend to feel guilted into making the decision. " I suppose I'll have to find a husband who wants a big family huh?" Violet couldn't believe her ears. Looking up from her coffee she met Megan's soft gaze and smile. "Oh Megan!" Violet leaped from her chair to embrace her friend. "No, no, gods no, we wouldn't have to kiss. Maybe we could hold hands, but only because this is my first time and I'd be nervous." The Grimm pulled back from the hug to scratch her check with nervous laughter.

Lady Angel Heart "Yeah I think I can manage being your shoulder to lean on" Megan looked back at her friend with a winking grin. " Well I guess its settled then. I'll take the day off Monday. My neighbor can take Riley to and from school. He likes to play with her son most days anyways. She made a mental note to make arrangements tomorrow. Come this time Monday evening they will have welcomed new life into the world. Until then the only thing she planned to worry about was what flavor pancakes to make in the morning. They always made stacks of pancakes when Violet came to visit and this weekend wasn't going to be any exception. An hour or two later they retired to bed after catching up about life and work. You'd be surprised what all happens in two weeks.

Midnight Holographic Violet laughed back joyful tears. She had always knew Megan would be there to support her through her life as a close friend, but what Megan had agreed to was probably the most positive decision in Violet's life. There were no words in her vocabulary that could be use enough to thank her, so Violet instead smiled while wiping the budding tears away from her eyes. "You're too good to me Megan." It took a few seconds, but after a deep breath the grimm was able to composing herself. Finding her seat the two naturally found themselves back into their regular kind of conversations. Work, life, Riley, her coven. Normally Violet could chat for hours, but tonight she felt a little emotionally exhausted from the todays events and retired early. It would be better that way because the sooner she slept the closer it felt to Monday.

Lady Angel Heart It was the next morning and Megan awoke with her usual early bird mentality. Careful not to wake her friend or her son she made her way to the kitchen where the coffee pot was readily brewing. Time to start on breakfast! Before long the three were sitting at the table. Megan made blueberry banana pancakes for her and Violet, leaving out the blueberries in Riley's stack since he wasn't fond of the round blue fruit. "If you just tried them I'm sure you'd like them. These aren't artificial like the ones you had before" Megan urged, but Riley wasn't convinced. He wasn't fussy about it, just simply asked for more bananas, please. Megan rolled her eyes and looked at Violet. "See? It ain't gonna work. He will eat any other fruit but I cannot for the life of me get him to eat blueberries. Its a shame.. I miss blueberry muffins". Taking another couple slices of bacon off the platter in front of them, Megan looked back at Riley who was already half way done with his stack. She wondered where he put all this food and laughed.

Midnight Holographic By the time Violet rolled out of bed Megan was already in the kitchen preparing breakfast. She could smell the enticing aroma of sizzling baccon, brewing coffee, and fluffy pancakes frying in the pans bellow. "Are those blueberry pancakes I smell?" she called forgetting for a moment to watch her voice whether or not Riley had still been sleeping. "Oops" she muttered to herself tip toeing downstairs this time to ask more silently. Violet took her spot helping Megan set the table, and by the time the two of them were finished setting up Riley was down in the kitchen sleep dust still in his eyes, but all the same hungry and ready to start the day. It was a weekend morning like any other that she spent over at their house. Violet asked Riley about school and what playground drama might have ben cropping up there, and teasing the poor boy by popping a few blueberries into her mouth with a wink and a nod. "It's not his fault he doesn't like them. We all had things we didn't enjoy eating when we were children. Riley may yet grow up to develope a taste for them." Violet stuck her now blue tongue out at the boy playfully hoping for a reaction from him imaging a time in his life that he might willingly eat blueberries. "If all he doesn't want to eat are some berries I think it's be an easy childhood. My parents for the life of them could not get me to eat tomatoes even though that's all that would ever seem to grow well in our garden. Do you know how many recipes call for tomato, too many and I demanded to have no part in it. It was only when he told me that the red pasty soup I enjoy eating was made from tomatoes did I retract my statement towards the fruit.""Don't be so sad if anything that means more berries for the both of us and I'll have plenty growing in my garden this summer. Each year the bushes develop making for a more bountiful harvest.""Will you and Riley be visiting my garden this summer? Strawberries will be in picking season shortly."

Lady Angel Heart Megan smiled "True, though we have yet to enter the vegetable phase so that could disaster". At this point Riley had finished his plate and was starring back at his Mom and Auntie with big eyes intently listening. "Well I don't see why not. We could take a shuttle up your way and you meet us at the plaza. I'm still waiting on the permits for the car so I doubt I can drive it by then". Riley instantly became excited at the mention of the shuttle. He loved the trains. "Would you like that? Spend some time this summer up at Auntie Violet's? I'm sure you'll like picking strawberries and afterwards we can make some Jam for your toast!". Megan had really only been to Violet's home once but It was a lovely place to live for sure. Riley nodded but quickly lost interested after trains were no longer the topic of discussion. He asked if he could excuse.. which was his way of asking to be excused from the table. Not exactly correct but close enough. While Megan and Violet finished off the breakfast Riley retreated to his playroom where he had a long set of train tracks set up for his wooden trainset. Megan watched him go and began to wonder what it would be like with more children in her home, surely more chaotic. At least she would have something to do. Being a school councilor was very rewarding but once she got home there wasn't papers to grade or a lesson to rehearse. She cooked dinner, did laundry, watched tv, read books. With Riley in her life she had a purpose.

Midnight Holographic b]"Well don't let me jinx it before it's even a thing. I would hate for the extra vegetables I bring here from my garden to go to waste because of my bringing attention to it." She smirked into her drink before sipping back the dark liquid. Violet watched Megan's interaction with her son and felt maybe for the first looking at this interaction with no twinge of jealousy. Probably because Megan had said yes, and even though this should have been her true feelings from the start it felt nice to be truely happy for Megan. When Riley had left the room Violet made sure to listen for his steps up the stairs until she knew he was out of earshot and in his room before asking Megan. "Have you thought about having a conversation about this with Riley?" This had been on her mind since before she came as a possible conversation if Megan were to say yes. When she did last night it was the only doubt she had left in her mind before falling asleep to the possible image of her child's face in her mind. It wasn't just Megan that had to say yes, it was important to gauge how the child felt about having a sibling, but that was a parenting decision Megan had to make on her own how she wanted to have that conversation with Riley. "I'm sure you want to bring it up in your own time, but it would be weird to go to the appointment before speaking with him. Sorry, I hear myself talk and I must sound so pushy. I just don't want him to come back home to a stone and not know about the decision we made even if your not going to awaken it right away." Violet paused for a moment before inquiring further. "Does he seem like the kind of child that would like a sibling?"

Lady Angel Heart "He is a very sweet and gentle boy. Will make a great husband some day, but I think he would make a great big brother. I doubt he's the type to be jealous but I didn't see much of him interacting with the other kids. I suppose I thought I would just be adopting more you know? Rescuing kids from the crowded system and giving them a warm loving home. A baby will definitely be a change. I've only worked with freshling and older." Megan paused for a moment thinking of the orphanage and wondering if they had a nursery or if the younger kids even knew about babies. "I'm not too concerned about Riley though. I will talk to him tonight probably. I hope he's at the age where he can understand such a concept". Megan started to clear the table. There will be a pile of dishes but it's a special occasion so she decided just to load up the dishwasher. "What about you? Once he or she is imbued what will you do? Besides drive home" Violet was so concerned about how a baby would affect her life but honestly Megan worried about how a baby would fit into Violet's life. Had she already prepared for child? Probably... but she wanted to know for sure.

Midnight Holographic Violet couldn't help to nod in agreement to Megan. She had never met such a well mannered boy as Riley's, and certainly not one at his age. She remembered briefly while still listening to Megan was saying what her brothers had been like at that age and she cringed at the thought. All of them including herself were already a rowdy wreck of terror and she had no idea how her parents dealt with it at the time. I suppose that's what happens when you live on a farm without a neighbour for a mile and a whole lot of with not a whole lot of nothing to do. You end up horse playing. Focusing back in the conversation Violet waited for Megan to pause before speaking. "After seeing you and Riley I hope to one day adopt someone into my family too, but not knowing who I might adopt at what age group I want to have the chance to mother someone from infancy to childhood for precisely the reasons you're asking about now. I don't think I would be ready as I am now for a toddler, or a someone older. I don't think anyone is really ready for their first child until they're there in your arms and you're hugging them. Being a parent must be scary and sure even you with all your experience around children I'm sure still have moments where you wonder to yourself what to do at certain times while raising Riley. I want to grow up as a parent with my child so I'm aware and better prepared to deal with some of the challenges that come with it when I decide to adopt someone into my family. You're wondering as much as I am if I'm ready for this responsibility. I want a child and a family so bad, but have I gotten things ready for actually having one? The answer is the more I prepare myself physically by creating the space for the child the more I feel myself getting anxious over what I just talked about. I can't prepare for everything and there are going to be things that take me by surprise. I just hope like any other first time parent that I can take what I can't foresee in stride." Violet was think out loud rather to Megan at this point, and it was clear that this was something that had been on her mind for a while. Looking up with newfound resolution from her cup, which at some point during speaking she found herself looking into like a crystal ball for answers and clarity Violet spoke again. "I have my baby room set aside, and my coven sisters are aware of the possible new addition that could be coming to the home with me from this tri. They're all really excited and supportive about me having a child and bringing a freshling in the house. I couldn't think of a more comforting place to raise a child surrounded by loving family, a practical petting zoo of familiars, and real food grown at home just outside the back doors. It reminds me so much of how I was raised with my mom and pop, rest their souls, at the old family farm. My only regret is that my child wont get to meet them, but they'll have plenty of uncles in their place and of course we can't forget Auntie Megan. Speaking of have you decided on what you would like them to address you as?" Violet was beaming now, smiling thoughtfully as she wiped a tear from her eyes at the thought of being so blessed in her life. It didn't help either at the thought of her parents, but if they could see her now from wherever their souls rested they would be happy for her too

Lady Angel Heart Megan listened intently. It was best not to interrupt Violet until she finished her thought. "Well I'm happy to hear you have your home prepared. That'll be one less thing to have to worry about. I was rather lucky in the fact there was already rooms made up for children here. You've got enough maternal instinct for the both of us, so I'm sure you'll be fine. Having the support system at home will help a lot to" She put away the last of the dishes into the dishwasher. "Well, I mean Riley calls you Ant Vi and your not my sister so I'm fine being Auntie Megan" It was at this point that Megan heard Riley yelling Pumpkins name, promptly followed by the pet kidden charging down the steps with a toy train in her mouth, Riley running after her. The following chase scene around the house could easily be put to a comical tune and used in a silent movie. It wasn't until later that evening when three settled down after dinner that Megan had a chance to sit down with Riley and attempt to discuss the topic at hand. It went about as well as you could expect for someone his age. He didn't really understand the sibling part. Megan explain the best that she could..that it would be like the kids at the orphanage but that him, mommy, and the baby would be a family. He seemed to like the idea of a baby but she wasn't entirely sure he knew what a baby was. She would mostly likely need to wait on awakening until things were a bit more.. solid here. Considering what she knew about child development she didn't want to start giving attention to another until Riley was settled and understood no one was going to replace him or send him away. Before she knew it Riley was floor playing with his toys, no longer listening to the conversation. Megan looked to Violet and shrugged. "No worries. I'll figure something out. I think he's just a little too young to understand right now. I'm sure he'd love the baby as much as he loves pumpkin but a baby nightmare is a bit more complicated than a kidden. Than again considering the trouble Pumpkin gets into.. maybe an infant would be simpler.". She laughed. At this point Megan had kinda just accepted it. She was going to have a baby with her bestie.

Midnight Holographic Violet watched Megan intently as she had her talk with Riley about the future of their family. It was always interesting hearing stories of Megan's work, but watching Megan in person live with and teach her child was an experience all to itself. Like a seminar on how to be a parent. Surely her skills as a child educator was coming into play here when choosing what words to use and how to explain such a complicated situation to a child, but Riley was her child, her family, and there was a warm motherly tone to everything she said to him. Violet wondered if she would fall naturally into that role when she was a parent. Maybe there was a mommy boot camp she could sign herself up to before awakening the child, but maybe that was overthinking it. She knew in her heart that she was ready, and even if there were things she was not prepared for that things would be okay. As effortless as Megan seem to fall naturally into the role of a mother Violet imagined that there were things she too must have been surprised by. Your first child will always be a wild learning experience, but so long as she had the love to give and a stable home environment she would learn how to get through the challenges of adulthood. "I think you did a good job of explaining it to him. I'm always so taken aback at how mature he is for his age, but even so he'll have plenty of time before you even awaken your stone right? Things won't be changing right away, so he'll have the time to grow up with you to reach that point in his childhood when you think the two of you are ready for the child. I can't imagine he'll complain about another playmate, but it'll take a few years until they're at the age they can really interact with each other like that."
