Muscles aching from that great workout routine at her gym, Lia strolled down one of the many streets of Destiny City this fine newly autumn evening.

The peace didn't last long for the woman though, and the large frame started in surprise as a body swathed in dark colors came flying out of alley ahead of her. It was closely followed by another, this one in more lighter colors. Briefly, the thought came to mind that there were 'spooky' things going on in the city that the news talked about a lot, but she didn't give the thought much attention currently. What she saw before her was an unfair situation, and that dark clothed figure needed help. Act now, ask questions later.

The amazon of a woman just had a good chance, too. Lia dropped her gym bag and reached to grab trash bin that was beside her on the street corner. She lifted it with ease, and then hurled it with all her might at the light clothed figure who was chasing down the other. A grin split her tanned face as it hit her target, and the figure let out a cry as they were sent tumbling with the trash can.

This was stupid.

Everything was stupid, really. Annabergite stalked down the empty street with a mutinous look on his pale face; the knives he carried weren't summoned yet, still in whatever pocket of Negaspace they went to when he didn't have them, but his gloved fingers were clenched all the same, as though waiting for them to appear.

The anger pulsed through him, followed by a wave of sadness, then a wave of frustration, and then a tangled combination of all three emotions. It was the same feelings he'd had for months now, the same emotions he'd carried for so long that they were starting to eat away at him.

He could not push past it. It felt impossible. As did everything else.

He didn't know why he bothered patrolling anymore. It seemed pointless and a waste of time now, but the alternative was sitting alone in his empty apartment staring at reruns of Project Runway and eating out of cartons of Ben & Jerry's.

Neither seemed a particularly appealing prospect. So here he was.

And here he was, five seconds later, being set upon by a damned senshi who had been patrolling in the same area, and who apparently had just as big a chip on their shoulder as Annabergite had on his.

He went skittering sideways as the magic hit him, and went crashing into a nearby wall. Gasping in pain, he pushed himself back up, this time clutching his daggers, only to see a trash can go flying across his line of vision and slam into the senshi, who yelped and collapsed under its weight, rolling away.

Annabergite stomped forward on his heels, brandishing the daggers.

"What the - "

She was glad to see the dark clad figure get up. "Hey man, you okay---" There was no mistaking the glints of steel as he approached though, and orange eyes widened in alarm. Lia held out her hands in a placating gesture, and glanced for something else to grab, just in case.

"Hey, it's cool. See? That other person is high tailing it, so we don't need to get violent tonight." It was true, too. That person in white was leaving as fast as their legs could carry them---which was rather fast. Were they moving faster than what was physically possible? Lia tore her eyes away from the fleeing figure to focus back on the man in black, since he was, now, the more prominent threat until he, hopefully, stowed those bad boys away.

The woman was tall.

Annabergite couldn't help but stare, not because he was intimidated, but because she looked like the kind of person who might snap him in half if he said anything other than yes ma'am or can you point me to the nearest truck stop.

There was a tattoo snaking around the woman's upper arm. Annabergite was still suspicious, but he let his gaze flicker towards the senshi who was gunning it out like their behind was on fire, a burst of belated outrage pulsing through him as he squawked, "HEY!"

Too late, she was gone. Annabergite's scowl deepened as he turned back to the woman, daggers held at his side.

"Was the trash can you?" he asked.

Lia was used to the staring. It was a daily occurrence honestly, even for as long as she'd been in Destiny City. Assessing this armed stranger though, she had a feeling he wouldn't be outright hostile to her, based on the fact he was focused on that other figure running away and well...it was hard to take someone seriously who squawked. Slowly the woman lowered her hands, and let them rest down at her sides.

"Yeah." She replied, brows lifting as she used this time to get a better look at him. The dark uniform was actually very detailed. Militaristic in appearance...

What kind of crazy stuff was going on in this city?

"Not really a fan of unfair fights, and figured you could use a hand...but maybe you were fine with those daggers there, huh, guy?" She nodded her head to them, her mass of wild hair bouncing.

He debated momentarily taking one of his daggers and winging it after the rapidly departing senshi, but something told him that it would probably not work, even if Annabergite did feel a strong urge to hit someone. He gave the woman a squinty eyed look, feeling his adrenaline still pulsing a little fast, feeling slightly as though he he'd been helped by a giantess.

Or Wonder Woman.

Maybe both.

"I was fine," he said shortly, and then, grudgingly, a second later:

"...thank you."

It took a lot to get the words out. Annabergite couldn't remember the last time he'd even said them. Straightening his shoulders, he said, still eyeing her, "Are you...familiar with any of..." He gestured vaguely at himself. "...this? At all? Like, the, uh, Negaverse or anything?"

Lia couldn't help the loud and not at all elegant snort that rattled her frame, which gave the clear indication of what she thought about how fine he was.

She didn't let the amusement linger though, and it was with a genuine smile she told him, "You're welcome." She did feel satisfaction from helping people out even if this was dipping into territory she wasn't familiar with (like their gang stuff). Oh, speaking of---

Her brows lifted curiously again as he eyed her and then spoke about it. "Not really, no." The woman replied honestly. "I mean, I hear about it---news, people talking, but I don't know much more than that. It's best to keep your head down for the most part." Negaverse? So was that their gang name? "So are you guys...in a turf war with the others in white?"

He had just seen her throw a trash can so the woman at least had strength, which Annabergite had to grudgingly admit to. That, and she looked as though she could possibly break him in two if she tried, so maybe that was a little bit a part of why he didn't want to mess with her too much.

He raised a brow. "Kinda," Annabergite sniffed, with as much dignity as he could for someone who had just gone rolling across the ground. "We're the right side of things, really. We're the ones who know what we're doing, and they're the ones just messing everything up."

Annabergite tilted his head, contemplating her.

"So you're not...a part of any of it?"

Lia wasn't really liking the way he was eyeing her now. Like he was thinking about something. Brows lifted up, and her hands went back up in a placating gesture.

"Woah there, buddy, I see the gears spinning in your head there---I'm not apart of anything and if it's a-okay with you, I'd like for it to stay that way---" She paused. "Because it's not good to jump in unless you have all the facts anyways." That was the engineer in her. Needing to know details. "No offense. I'm sure you're proud of your gang and all, but I don't really know a whole lot about you guys or the other guys."

Annabergite gave her what was meant to be a withering look, but was more pathetic than anything else. Possibly a little indignant that she'd made a baseless assumption on her part, but, well, that was the nature of the game.

"I wasn't going to say anything," he sniffed. "And for the record, I don't have a gang."

There was a pause. Annabergite had wilted slightly, shoulders slumping.

"I don't have anything," he mumbled, far too honest, but, well.

Uh...oh?

Lia watched as the man did a bit of a 180, and ended up slumping a bit and getting down on himself. Oh. Well. It just went to show, you could never judge a book by its cover, because you never knew what people were going though. Apparently this guy was having it rough, and it seemed like tonight wasn't an especially good night for him. The bleeding heart in her felt bad for the dude.

"Aw---" A hand reached out to clasp his shoulder. "Don't say that, guy. I'm sure you have something---" The woman paused, because she wanted to offer something up to be encouraging, but didn't know the guy, obviously. "I mean---you do have a gang." She gestured to his uniform. "Because you're wearing that, so you're in it."

Her hand was strong. Annabergite was not going to tip over, but it sure felt like it. He sighed heavily, trying very hard not to vomit all of his current feelings out onto this complete and utter stranger and bystander, but who else did he have to talk to?

No one because he was all alone.

Annabergite shoved this thought to the side and gave the woman a slightly narrow eyed look.

"Well, it's not like - I mean, this isn't a gang, it's just people fighting for the right thing. That isn't so bad, is it?"

Lia was pretty sure that's what someone who was dedicated to their gang would say. But okay...she'd bite. Call it a bit of a curious streak, but also that the guy just seemed really down on himself. She couldn't help but be compelled to want to try to help out, even if it meant just being an ear.

"So what's the right thing for you guys then, huh?" Brows lifted. "Because I'm sure that other gan---group---thinks they're doing the right thing, too."
