■ This wasn't exactly a class Desi cared about per se, but it did happen to be one of two courses that occurred during her most active hours. Her normally short attention span was lengthened by the sheer joy of actually getting to be awake at night, and she found herself focusing better than she normally would've. That said, she was as likely to drift off or doodle as she was to take notes, so her exam score reflected that.

xxxCHARMS ~ Axxx

■ Desi isn't bad at magic, but she's certainly impatient. Wandwork is only a struggle for her when she lets that get the better of her. Unfortunately, she tends to give into that side of herself quite easily. This course was easier than most, but she didn't perform exceptionally well most of the time. The exam was no exception, finding herself just shy of an EE.

xxxDEFENSE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS ~ Axxx

■ Desi paid attention in this course more for bragging rights than anything else. She likes to think of herself as intimidating, despite not being even remotely so. She'd hate to be all bark and no bite (pun very much intended), so she applied herself a little more readily than she might've with other classes. Her skills were admirable, though perhaps not awe-inspiring, and this showed on her exam.

xxxHERBOLOGY ~ Oxxx

■ As much as Desi despises this course, she's pretty sure she'd be disowned for performing poorly in it. Besides that, she's not entirely sure she wants to drop it, if only because she doesn't want to lose an opportunity to annoy Jason. If she doesn't move into the NEWT, she wants it to be because she chose to, not because she didn't do well enough on the exam to continue. She's almost personally disgusted at herself for having a natural inclination towards it, but can't deny that it definitely helped her with the exam.

xxxHISTORY OF MAGIC ~ Axxx

■ Desi likes Professor Powell, and that's about the only thing she likes about this class. She spends a lot of it trying to stay out of arguments, usually taking to doodling on her notes rather than paying attention. Studying with Vira outside of class is probably the only reason she actually passed the exam at all.

xxxPOTIONS ~ Oxxx

■ It would look very bad, Desi was pretty sure, to not get a good score on an exam for a course that your own mother taught. Lucky for her, she's actually quite good at potions, at least when she's patient with herself. It helps that she has heightened senses, which make potion brewing easier, due to being able to detect changes in scent and color more easily, taking a lot of the guesswork out of things. Her score on this exam was just shy of perfect.

xxxTRANSFIGURATION ~ Axxx

■ Desi is, to put it in a word, absolutely terrible at Transfiguration. It is only because she's so fond of Rick that she passed the exam, determined not to fail at a course being taught by someone she considers family. She applied herself a bit more rigorously to studying as a result, and was rewarded with... well, she passed. Barely. Which is something to be proud of, considering how terrible she is at it.

xxxALCHEMY ~ EExxx

■ Desi's skill at potions helped bring her score up in this course and on the exam, but she struggled with the wandwork. Overall she tended to do alright, but it wasn't anything she was ever going to be particularly skilled at. Her score on the exam ended up just barely meeting the standards of an EE.

xxxART ~ Axxx

■ Desi could've been quite good at this class, really. She had a natural gift, and obviously enjoyed being in Tanna's class. That said, she definitely didn't apply herself to the learning aspect nearly as much as the doing aspect, and so her written exam score left a lot to be desired.

xxxCARE OF MAGICAL CREATURES ~ EExxx

■ Desi was good at this course if only because she likes animals more than people. People are annoying, and animals are flawless sweet misunderstood creatures who have never done anything wrong in their lives, ever. Much like herself, she likes to insist. She disliked that the course was held outside, in the daytime, and her grade may have dipped ever so slightly as a result of not always paying attention because she was busy being dramatic about bursting into flames. But, she had a natural inclination towards animals, and so she did quite well in spite of this.

xxxHEALING ~ Axxx

■ Desi actually hated this course, to be honest. She's not one to lie about her connection to blood, and any time their studies turned towards something that involved it, she struggled. She took to buying blood pops to try and negate the effects, but all that did was make her cravings worse. Coupled with the fact that she's rather impatient, and it's a miracle she managed to pass the exam at all.

xxxMUGGLE STUDIES ~ Axxx

■ Desi took this class because it would be easy, and she's not going to lie about it. She gave it exactly as much attention as she thought it deserved, which was 'not a lot.' Half of the reason she took it was to make fun of the parts of the curriculum that were somehow still outdated and just plain wrong about muggle life. It also happened that, if she was going to skip a class to take a nap, this was usually the one she skipped. It's only because of the fact that she grew up with muggle things and muggle culture that she managed to pass.

xxxMYTHOLOGY ~ Axxx

■ Desi took this class because she likes Amata, and that was about it. She found it interesting enough, she supposed, but it was still a history class at the end of the day, and so she tended to not pay very close attention. Her score on the exam was a high A, but an A nonetheless.

xxxWANDLESS MAGIC PRACTICE CLASS ~ Dxxx

■ Desi was absolutely terrible at wandless magic. She would like to say she tried, but really all she did was get distracted by the professor, and then annoyed at herself for being terrible. She's not good at controlling her emotions and it shows here more than anywhere else, because she was as likely to blow something up as she was to get no result whatsoever from any attempt at casting magic wandlessly. Her chances of actually succeeding were almost nonexistent.

xxxWANDLORE STUDIES ~ Oxxx

■ Desi only somewhat paid attention in this class, really, but it's because she personally felt like she'd been attending it for years. Her uncle's job had always fascinated her, and so she delighted in listening to him prattle on about wands and cores and woods and the like. When she began the class in third year, she hardly had to take notes, because most of the information was already in her head. Her exam score was actually quite impressively high as a result.

■ Again, Desi mostly only took this course because it was a night class. She liked having at least one lesson she showed up to at an hour she actually wanted to be awake. That said, her attention span was abysmal and she tended to spend more time staring at the stars than actually learning about them. She passed the exam mostly because, given that these are her best hours, it was basically impossible for her not to be paying attention at least a little, even if she didn't realize she was.

xxxCHARMS ~ Axxx

■ Wandwork was never going to be Desi's forte. She simply isn't patient enough for it, and her frustration at failure tends to compound that issue. While her charmwork is passable, that's about the kindest thing you can say about it. She stayed in the course due to its practicality, but found it boring for that very reason. She essentially applied herself just enough to pass, and not a bit more.

xxxDEFENSE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS ~ Axxx

■ This being the only wandwork class Desi actually cared about, she actually studied quite hard for it (hard by her standards, anyway). Unfortunately, this particular branch of magic is one that is most useful in situations that are inherently going to frustrate or anger her, so her temper and impatience once again got the better of her. She managed a perfectly average score on the exam, but nothing impressive.

xxxHERBOLOGY ~ EExxx

■ Truth be told, Desi didn't continue on in this course out of any real desire to actually take it. More like, she knew it would be easy to pass, she thought she might be disowned if she dropped it (joking! or is she?), she enjoyed getting on Jason's nerves... and the only careers she thought she'd be any good at required a NEWT score. But, she'd grown up listening to her mother and grandfather (and yes, Jason) prattle on about plants, so she retained a fair amount of it and wasn't actually all that bad at it when she stopped whining about the sun long enough to repot something. Actually, 'not all that bad' is a bit of an understatement; she's excellent with plants, much to her own disgust.

xxxPOTIONS ~ Oxxx

■ Potions is easily Desi's best class; her typical lack of patience seems quite absent when presented with potionwork. It helps that her mother was the professor, and has spent her entire life nurturing skill and, yes, patience, when brewing. It also comes much more naturally to her than most other forms of magic, thanks to this familiarity, so she doesn't tend to get frustrated as easily.

■ While Desi was less than interested in art history, she was very interested in art itself. She's not great at remembering years or the names of artists, but she's a fair hand at critique, and reasonably creative. While she's unlikely to ever be any sort of great artist, she has some skill. Her main issue is toeing the line between being a perfectionist, and getting bored on minute detail. Still, she was able to find enough of a balance to pass the exam with a reasonably good score.

xxxCARE OF MAGICAL CREATURES ~ EExxx

■ Desi loves this course, loves working with animals, and honestly if it could have been held at night it would've been her favorite class. As it was, ascending to the NEWT level did little to temper her dramatics, and her grades did suffer slightly for her grouchy demeanor and inattention. Still, she's very attuned to the moods and behaviors of animals, being able to detect things that others cannot, and this aided her in the course and on the exam.

xxxWANDLORE STUDIES ~ Oxxx

■ This was probably the course in which Desi learned the least, and yet performed the best. She didn't tend to feel like she was learning because most of what was taught, she'd already learned from her uncle Damien. But, she'd always been fascinated by his work, so she retained the information quite readily, and never suffered in the class as a result. She did get somewhat bored in class at times, but come homework or exams she was able to make up for it with her background knowledge. Her NEWT exam was a walk in the park compared to some others.
