DawnBreak as not what you would call the most graceful of cats. Pretty much every cat in the clan had pulled her out of something or another. But there were some that she owed much more than others. Littlepaw was her own pit crew at this point in time. She was covered head to toe in cobweb at one point another. That or she smelled like some aweful herb mixture. Then there was ThornCoat who had managed to single handedly rescue her from the thorn bush that had been determined to eat her alive, though she was still a bit sore from all those scratches. Luckily, none of them had done permanent damage.
And of course there was.... Dawnbreak sighed dreamily... Splitnose. She scanned the camp for the tom. He had saved her from falling to her death as a apprentice. And ever since that day she had worshiped the ground he walked on. Well.. not super obviously, just everytime he asked for a warrior to come on a patrol she jumped and if she could get him to eat with her it made her have her own fan girl moments. She picked up a large vole off the pile. The kits had eaten, and there were no elders... so she didnt feel bad taking a piece.... she would hunt later too. She spotted the tom and headed over she hesitated and shuffled her paws a bit, Dropping the vole she licked her lip. "H-hey Splitnose." Her blue eyes were bright and she flicked her tail anxiously. "I thought... maybe... would you like to share this vole with me? After I thought i would go hunting... maybe... you would like... to go with me... just... us?" She sat there feeling all anxious and nervous as she shuffled her paws more.

Splitnose had woken up and emerged from the warrior's den. He had spent several moments trying to decide what he'd do first; eat or groom. In the end he'd chosen to groom properly before getting his assignments for the morning. He was nearly done with a familiar voice spoke up nearby. He caught the scent of fresh kill.
His two colored green eyes looked up at the familiar face of Dawnbreak. Was it his imagination, or had she been trying to hang out with him a lot? Nah it couldn't be. Since he'd finished his grooming, he'd planned to get a bite before going out. Seems the bite came to him. He nodded, "sure Dawnbreak."

magnadearel No worries xD Rushing makes rp a chore and its meant to be fun!
Yep, completely his imagination... no... not at all... Dawnbreak had been sticking close to him, trying to show him that she was strong and that she didnt need to be rescued all the time... though she managed to need help out of situations more times than she wanted to count. She waited, Vole between them, as he considered her offer. And then he said words that made it so she could breathe. "Oh good! It will be a lot of fun!" She moved closer with the vole settling down next to the tom, maybe a little closer than normal? She waited and turned the small body. "Heads or Tails?"
Her body was a ball of nervous energy, she had never thought herself to be so bold as to try and get a tom's attention... but here she was... and it was... working... maybe? She licked her maw in preparation to eat and when he picked she leaned in to take a bite of her end. She chewed mechanically. Where usually she relished having food, she couldnt even taste it. The vole, juicy as it was, felt dry and she choked as she tried to swallow. She scrambled a bit sitting up. Really this is how she was going to die... eating with a tom? She gasped for much needed air. And here she had been trying to look so cool and collected in front of Splitnose.

Splitnose tried to figure out what she meant by a lot of fun. Eating could be fun he supposed, or maybe not? It was just something he did when he was hungry though. He shrugged, if she thought it was fun that was fine with him. The tom settled beside her. Oooooo good question. He eyed the vole. "Uhhh.... you pick!" Heads were good, but so was tails...... How could he pick one over the other?
His fur brushed lightly against hers as he fluffed himself up against the morning chill. It was harder to stay warmer with prey so scarce. He let her take a bit of the head, then look a mouthful of tail for himself. Mmmmm rump! He felt her sit up and gasp. Curiously he looked over. Splitnose sat up and gave her a solid thump to help her breath again. "Are you ok?"

She flailed.
Dying, she was going to die... before she had become the best hunter in the clan, before she had had kits... before she had told Splitnose that she was completely head over tail for him. At least she could feel his pelt against hers while she was dying.
And then she felt his paw thunk her back solidly. She coughed and swallowed. She sputtered taking in air. Her fur prickled as her skin warmed. "Yeah... Thanks... You just keep saving me... dont you... Just my hero...." She gave him a grateful look and purred softly pushing the last of the vole to him. No way she was trying to eat again right now... she really didnt have a death wish... contrary to popular belief...
"Come on... Lets go catch some food for the rest of the clan...." She bounced up and shook herself. "Hopefully you wont have to save me twice in one day...."

He smiled as the young she-cat got her breath back. "Hardly a hero Dawnbreak. I just didn't want you backing out of our deal to go hunting!" Splitnose laughed. He gulped down the rest of the vole eagerly. No sense in letting it go to waste.
He rose to his paws and padded toward the entrance. Now that she mentioned it...... he had been helping her out a lot lately since he'd saved her from falling off the edge of the cliff. Splitnose had never had the heart to tell her he'd mixed her up with her sister, who had been his apprentice. "Where should we go hunt today?"

She beamed at him, she knew he was just being modest. Even if he wasnt... she was going to believe he was... He was her hero afterall... "Right... It would be hard to hunt with you if i was hunting with Sunclan..." She shuffled her paws looking embarrassed but still determination radiated through her.
She followed after the tom, taking a moment to appreciate his frame and the flick of his tail as he walked away. She would be crushed to find out that he didnt save her because he liked her... but because he thought she was her sister. Though as a blue flash her sister and herself, they did look similar. But not knowing she was still grateful and that moment had set her heart on the striped cat. She purred thinking. "Hmm... We could... no... wait... the thorns are that... Well... We could go up... No... wait... the mountain sheep are still angry from my attempt to catch a baby..." She turned, "Maybe... down by the river bed? I know its all dried but... we could see if there are any voles hiding in the bed.... " She tipped her head, Trying to appear more grown up instead of like an overgrown apprentice with her mentor....

"You're a good hunter Dawnbreak. Don't worry your little head about it." Everyone had improved their stills to catch what little prey they could.
Splitnose set a random direction as he looked behind him, smiling amused at the she-cat while she tried to pick a spot to hunt. "River bed it is." It was so much easier when someone else made the choices. As long as he didn't have to think, he was happy to go along with a plan. "Do you think the snakes will be out more in the rocks now that the river is gone? It's turned into their kind of habitat hasn't it?" What else might they have to watch out for?

Little? He was still thinking of her as an apprentice wasnt he? She flicked one ear. Ok she would show him. She would prove she was a warrior... Though she looked to him and followed. "Good hunter maybe... but im gonna be the best hunter... when people think about who they want on their patrol to hunt... they are gonna think of me..." unless they didnt want to have to save her every 5 minutes.
She padded along as she spoke and then nodded. She hadnt had anything bad happen down by the riverbed... yet.
She shook her head. "No... i mean... maybe... but to have a habitat... you need prey..." And while she was hoping they would find something... a vole maybe... hiding deep in the mud... or maybe a dried up frog trying to pull the last drops of moisture from the ground... but either way.. it was a long shot... Come to think of it.... they didnt have a habitat here did they? Not now that the water dried up. "I guess though... having those rocks exposed.... that would be a good place for them to sunbathe..."
She caught up and walked by his shoulder, her pelt ust brushing his. "You arent scared of snakes are you Splitnose?"

It was a good goal, particularly in these times. His ears twitched as he walked. He didn't hear anything around them. Maybe they were being too noisy still and scaring everything into hiding. But they weren't at the river bed yet.
Ooooo he hadn't thought of that. The snakes needed prey as much as they did. "You're right. There probably isn't much for them either. We'll just have to watch our steps among the rocks I guess!" He scampered through some dried up grass stems long dead.
Splitnose blinked as she brushed up beside him. Well. "I don't know? Maybe a little. Snakes are scary. Perhaps you'll have to save me!" He grinned foolishly at her.

She thought it was, and she hadnt let go of it since she was an apprentice. She wasnt being super careful to be quiet, afterall, she was with Splitnose, and that in itself was a treat. She also had so little hope at finding something... she almost just didnt care to be quiet in this moment. She beamed at his praise and then mentally scolded herself for it. She wasnt his apprentice afterall. "Who knows though... they may be better at finding prey than us.... " She purred. "And maybe snakes taste good?" She followed her ear twitching at the crunching grasses. She gave him a cute look. "Perhaps i just might!" She batted at a invisible foe. "Ill save you Splitnose!!!" She bounced ahead and then went in for the kill. "Yep... No need to fear those pesky snakes... And enough food to feed the clan!" Her eyes gleamed. Could he be his hero too? She quieted though as they reached the river bed. She sat on a rock and opened her mouth to scent for prey. She couldnt smell anything. An then she could! Vole! She angled with her ears and dropped into a hunters crouch to start her stalk toward the small thing. (20 is there is prey to be had )

He'd never stopped to watch snakes hunt. Could they be better than cats? No surely not. Right? He really hoped not or there wouldn't be anything for them. Splitnose looked at Dawnbreak.
"You come up with the weirdest questions," he meowed at her. "I've never had snake. Do you really think they taste better than say mouse?" He wasn't so sure on that one.
He laughed when she said she'd save him. Well if she wanted to, then he guessed she could? Splitnose followed her as she bounded ahead. As they reached the river bed he stepped more quietly and kept his voice low when he spoke at all. It looked like Dawnbreak had already spotted something. Maybe there was hope here after all. He looked around himself, but didn't spot anything yet.

(Above 10 and she catches it)
She looked back trying to figure out where the worried look was coming from. But then he spoke and she fluffed up. "I dont." She pouted but then she gave a shrug ."Ive never had it... i doubt it tastes as good as mouse... or we would have caught some before.... you know... but ... maybe better than beetles..." Which for a while insects is what she had been bringing back. Insects were easy to find still... but no cat could live off them solely, let alone a clan. "Id surely try it at the very least."
But then she had caught that faint wiff and was off. Food... was enough to pull her away from Splitnose. She set her paws, almost skidding them across the stone so there would be no vibrations. Finally, she saw the thing, picking at the dead grass. It would be barely more than a mouthful. She took its life quickly and carried it back over to splitnose. She frowned though. "Well only 25 more like that... and all the cats will get a mouthful..." She stashed it in a rock crevice to retrieve later. She went back to scenting but there was nothing to her nose.

Oh good, he wasn't the only one who hadn't had snake then. Though they might have to consider it now, even with the dangers of snake bites. The thought made him shudder. He wasn't too fond of beetles either. They tended to get pieces stuck between his teeth.
"Good catch," Splitnose purred when she returned with her tiny kill. "I'm sure some cat will enjoy it much more than beetles." He nosed around trying to find something to contribute.

She sniffed again. She couldnt imagine snake being a pleasant dinner choice. but then again... neither was mountain goat... and she had tried to catch one of those too. She still hadnt given up hope... a baby... if she got the better position... But she couldnt think about those silly thoughts.
She purred when she returned to his side with it and when he praised her. "Yeah... maybe.... Hmm... Maybe Goldenleaf... pregnant queens should eat first right...." She licked a paw as she looked around. Nothing more seemed to be coming to her scent wise. She looked to splitnose. "I think i wouldnt mind being a queen some day... What about you...." She gave him a look before he could speak. "Have kits... not be a queen is what i meant... Would you ever want to have kits?" She shuffled her paws just a bit, back to being a bit nervous. Not wanting to be rejected and knowing full well that if he never wanted kits she would have to be ok with that... And yet... she knew her current dream of having his kits would be lost and that would crush her.
