Hey guys! Let me start off by saying that I really appreciate this guild. I can disappear for literally six years, come back, and still be a member of this guild. I'm SUCH a HUGE fan of Star Wars, and it's nice to have a place to gush about it. My IRL friends aren't as big of a fan as me, so I'm glad you guys can keep up. Love y'all. heart

SPOILERS AHEAD. You all really should have seen the show by now (It HAS been out for ten years).

Okay, so, I'm just gonna word-vomit here. I started watching Clone Wars when it came out. I saw the movie in the theaters, and then I dutifully watched every single episode the day it was released for the next five years. I was a pre-teen when I watched the series through the first time, and I did really appreciate it then. Now I'm a young adult in graduate school, and the whole series (and The Lost Missions) are on Netflix. Let me start by saying that I have never before rewatched a whole show before. I rarely even rewatch movies. But I just finished rewatching all of Clone Wars. Man, I am floored. It's been crazy comparing my attitudes as a pre-teen to my attitudes now.

For example, when I was younger, I really didn't like Ahsoka at all. I thought she was annoying, whiny, and got in the way. But now, I think she's amazing. Yes, she starts out annoying, but by the time she leaves the Order, she has undergone an incredible amount of character development. She's basically a fully-fledged Jedi. And that's the unique position the show has with Ahsoka. The headliner characters (Anakin, Obi-Wan, etc.) are restricted in what can happen to them because of the movies. But Ahsoka doesn't have those restrictions, which makes her an excellent candidate for mounds of character development. It's also neat because we got to see what a Padawan's training is like. We almost entirely skipped over Anakin's training, so it was fun to see Ahsoka's training. Especially under Anakin, which... I definitely wonder why the Council thought he was stable enough to teach someone else... But that's a different discussion!

Speaking of Anakin (and our other main characters), I really, really appreciate how the show handled them. I didn't notice this as a kid, but now I an grateful to the creators of the show for showing us the humanity in our characters. Part of this is just the nature of a television show (many times more screen time than a movie), but it's great getting to see our favorite characters be real people some times. For example, in the movies, Anakin is mostly just a lightsaber wielding badass. But in the show, especially in episodes with Ahsoka and/or Obi-Wan, he is witty, funny, and has real emotions (and is also a moody, angry, lightsaber wielding badass). It's great to see the real relationships developed in our favorite characters. Like Obi-Wan heavy episodes. He is a GREAT character, and he often gets pushed to the side by our Skywalker leads. But he has several arcs all to himself, and I'm always amazed by him.

Speaking of amazed, the clones. As a kid, I was frequently annoyed by the clone-heavy episodes. But now I found myself really looking forward to them. The clones are unique because (with the exception of Cody), there is no guarantee that they will survive the episode. They did an amazing job of making the clones unique and making me care about them individually. We come to care strongly about Delta squad, and I admire Captain Rex in everything he does. That man does not get enough credit. He can keep up with Anakin in battle, and that's saying something. I guess I must not have been paying attention as a kid, but I recently watched the "Darkness on Umbara" arc, and... that one hurt. A lot. There one one Jedi that we hardly knew in the arc, but the way they created the scenario, and put the effort into making us care about the clones was astonishing. I don't think I really appreciated (until now) how much of a kid's show Clone Wars is NOT. The first couple of seasons are a little rough, but that's standard for every show. By season three it has it's feet under it, and by the Umbara arc, the show has decided that it is not for kids anymore.

If you let me keep typing, I will keep spewing my love for this show all over this forum. Here's just a list of my highlights: Ahsoka's character development, any episode strongly involving clones, Anakin's real relationships with his master, his apprentice, and his wife, Obi-Wan's episodes, and that one arc on Mon Calamari mainly because it was awesome.

Oh yeah, and CLONE WARS SAVED!!!!

Thanks for reading, and tell me what you thought of the Clone Wars show!

Ahsoka did start off that way, but you have to remember, she was a kid. I loved how all the characters evolved throughout the show. The fine season was awesome. I want to watch it over again.
