Quella Fehtan

"Ohmygog," Quella winced as Emiola dragged her past another neon sign, the bright glow burning afterimages in the forest troll's vision. It was nice of the tealblood to offer to show Quella around the big city, but did it have to be so... so... bright? There were too many trolls, too much noise, too many things to look at and pay attention to and maybe chase, she hadn't decided yet. It wasn't like her nice peaceful forest at all. There the only thing that happened was maybe the occasional highblood hunt, and you just had to stay out of the way of those. Easy. Here there was shouting and nowhere to hide and bright lights and, and, and... bustle!

It was overwhelming, and made the huge troll feel small.

Still, she put on a brave face, just like always. If Emi was gonna show her around the city, she was at least gonna give it a try. Maybe she just had to get used the the new noisy jungle. There was no way it was more dangerous than the forest, after all. Just a lot more distracting. Quella was just beginning to give up hope when she noticed a sign up ahead. "Emi." the huge blueblood said, pulling on the tealblood's sleeve. "Emi. Emi!" She pointed at the signboard, which read in large letters "Karaoke Battles - Tonight Only!"

"We should do that!" Quella said with a huge grin.

Quella ducked into the darkened karaoke den, dragging her companion with her. They were almost instantly hit by a wall of sound, but it was at least sound that the hunter appreciated. The blueblood flushed a little as they took a seat. "Er... not really? I guess I don't really get out of the forest much. Do trolls survive off of just playing music?" Kerras flashed through her mind, and their little harp. How in the world would that work? You'd have to challenge someone to a musical fight or something. She wanted to try that.

The blueblood's ears perked up as the trolls on stage finished their set. She was immediately drawn to the hooting and hollering as the audience voted for their favorite contestant with noise. Finally, the winner stepped down to thunderous applause. Quella practically bolted upright as a troll on stage said "Let's give a huge hand to all of our contestants! Is there anyone else in the audience who wants to mix it up tonight?"

"We do!" Quella said with a huge smile, dragging her tealblood companion up from her chair. Out from under the terrifying heights of the cloudscrapers on the street, the hunter was feeling much more confident, even if she didn't know the rules to this particular game.

Oh man ok, this actually looked really hard. They had a whole binder of songs to look through, and Quella was pretty sure she'd never heard of... well, pretty much any of them. Shrugging, she scanned through the book as the announcer called out their names to the crowd, picking out one pretty much at random. The hunter could feel her nerves starting to jangle like frayed wire, telling her there was a fight here, but the blueblood just couldn't get the huge smile off her face.

"Alright!" she said as she took the stage and opening chords started to whip the audience into a cheer. "I'm not gonna lose to anyone! Let's do this thing!" sounded pretty classic. She was pretty sure she'd actually heard this before, even if she couldn't quite remember where.

Words started whipping across the screen almost faster than the hunter could read, but she managed to match the pitch for the most part. Damn, this was hard. Quella said a silent thanks in her head to Selune, for telling her that reading was actually... well, important, and making sure she had books to do it with. The hunter broke out into a growly tenor, matching the rhythm as best she could.

"Welcome to the jungle, we've got fun and games

We got everything you want honey, we know the names

We are the people that can find whatever you may need

If you got the money, honey we got your disease!"

Quella struck a pose as she finished the song, to cheers from the audience. Damn, ok. At least she wasn't making a complete fool of herself. She could do this!
