User ImageMatilda was feeling very good about a lot of things nowadays. She had friends, four wonderful friends who she just wanted to get to know better. To get along with and figure out life together with. It was nice. Not being alone anymore was such a nice feeling and she wanted it to continue forever if it could.

She had discovered reading, which had quickly become her most favorite hobby in the entire world. Honestly, she spent so much time in the library now a days that she almost thought about asking someone if she could just move her bed down into the slightly dusty shelves of books…it would be so nice to just relax in there forever.

When she was older…when she was out of the academy, she wanted a library. A library and a family who liked to read. And a lot of…of children of her own, maybe it was too soon to think about things like that, with her being nothing more than a freshling…but she wanted love. It was something that she hadn’t had enough of and…and it was something she lacked. And she knew it.

How often in her books did people find the people they loved? Their happily ever afters…and she could help! One day…if she did good enough in school and could provide for a family…she could find the stones who were abandoned. The freshlings who didn’t have a home to go to at night…and she could bring them home.

The odd looking kids. The scary looking kids like herself…she could make sure they were all safe and…and happy. And then…she would be able to be happy too.

Quietly, Matilda curled up in the chair she was sitting in, hugging the book she held even closer to her chest.

It was a nice dream…now she just had to work to make it into a reality!
