Jazzilyn smiled as she left the cooking room with one of her Junior friends. She waved to them with a grin before thanking them for helping her make a little cake for one of her best friends. Freshlings weren’t usually allowed to go cook or bake but since she had an older nightmare there to assist her, the caretakers were okay with it. Carefully, the goblin made her way towards her dorm. It was pretty quiet since more the freshlings had already moved up to the junior doors. In fact, the last roomie she had left yesterday. So she had the whole dorm to herself till new ones arrived! With caution, Jazzi sat the cake on the little table in her room then worked on setting up some decorations. Perfect! Mira would be here soon then she could surprise her and eat delicious cake together!

Mira had an awful day. No one remembered that her birthday was today and on top of that, she was teased because someone had put gum in her hair. Wiping the tears from her eyes, she made her way to her friend’s dorm. She wore a cute skirt and a tank top with her hair up so that it wasn’t obvious that she was missing a chunk of hair. She went to knock on the door but stopped, taking a deep breath. What if Jazzilyn forgot too? She probably didn’t since she did ask her to come by and she should really have more trust in her best friend. The Hybrid knocked on the door and gave her friend the biggest smile she could muster.

Jazzilyn’s smile brightened as she heard the knock on the door, practically bouncing the door. “Miiiiiiira!!!’ She said with excitement as she opened the door, immediately hugging the other freshling tightly. “ HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BESTEST FRIEND!” She announce loudly, releasing her to toss confetti in to the air. “I hope today was awesome for you because you are awesome and deserve an awesome day!” She giggled, touching her hair. “Wow! Your hair looks different… Nice! Just different. I like it.” She smiled to her, moving to reveal the cake. “Look what I made for the coolest person I know!” She smiled a bit smugly, “Only for my Mira of course!” She giggled.

Mira was pleasantly surprised by the hug, wrapping her fluffy arms around her to return the gesture. Jazzi was so warm and caring; it was stupid to ever think she would forget her birthday. She smiled brightly as her friend exclaimed her birthday wishes, following her to the table. “Well… I wouldn’t say my day started off great but it’s getting better.” She laughed a bit. As she saw the cake, a bigger smile crossed her face. “Awe! Jazzi! You didn’t have to buy me a cake!” She told her, happy to see that she had gotten her a cake but also feeling a little guilty… Especially when she stated that she made the cake. “You didn’t have to! Didn’t you have to study?” She asked.

Jazzilyn sighed a bit hearing that Mira’s day didn’t start off well but a smile came shortly after when she heard her friend trying to stay positive. “Getting better is good! Nice positivity!” She grinned, moving to poke her friend’s nose. “I wanted to make you something nice for your birthday! Not to mention, I like cake too.” She laughed, getting the plastic knife first then grabbing two plates and forks. Setting the plates and forks on the table, Jazzi then cut the cake into small pieces and serving both of them. “Nah. You are way more important than any study session.” She explained, waiting for Mira to take the first bite.

Mira wanted to cry from happiness as the other said she wanted to make her a cake and that she was more important that her studying. Jazzi studied hard so she could get out of academy as soon as possible so hearing her say that… it meant so much to the hybrid. Smiling softly, she picked up the fork and took a bite of the cake. “Wow… This is super good, Jazzi!” She complimented as she ate more of it, loving the minty taste with the chocolate. It was clear that her best friend knew exactly what she liked but then again isn’t that what friends were supposed to do? Mira smiled again, this time it reached her eyes. “Thank you so much, Jazzilyn. I love it.” She thanked before eating more cake.

Jazzilyn felt relieved and happy that Mira enjoyed everything, “I also have a small gift for you… Sorry it’s nothing much but I thought you’d like it.” She told her with a grin, sliding a poorly wrapped box to her. “I made it so it has all my love and care for you in it, ok? You are never alone!” She beamed the other a smile before finishing her cake and serving them both another piece. Jazzilyn had learned how to make friendship bracelets by one of her other friends so she made one for Mira. It had green and blue in the design; green for jazzi’s eye color and blue for Mira’s. She patiently waited to see if Mira would like it, nibbling on some cake.

Mira continued to eat all her cake till it was gone. The start of her day may have been bad but Jazzi always knew what to do to make everything better. Today could not be any better; that is until she heard that her friend had also made her a gift. “You… Made me a gift too?” She asked to clarify, smiling brightly. “Thank you! I bet it’s lovely!” She quickly picked up the box and unwrapped it, looking at the cute little bracelet. “It’s… Beautiful! Thank you, Jazz! I love that you put our colors in it!” She beamed her a smile. “ I should make you one so you won’t be alone either! Okay! Maybe you can teach me!” She enthused, happy when the other gave her more cake.

Jazzilyn smiled as Mira said she loved the bracelet; she knew she would. She even knew what theme she was going for which was the cherry on top for her. When she heard that her friend wanted to make her one, her smile widened. That would be really neat to have a bracelet made by her as well! Then they both would have really awesome bracelets. She wondered what sort of design she would do for hers. “Of course I’ll teach you! I bet you will make super cute bracelets!” She sat her fork down and moved to grab a box that had the stuff in it. “We could do it now, if you want? We can do anything you want today because you are the birthday princess!” She told her, opening the box to show Mira all the strings she had.

Mira put her wrist out so that Jazzilyn could tie the bracelet on to her wrist. It looked beautiful on her, especially with the colors on her arm fluff. Hearing that her friend was willing to teach her and even do it now was awesome! “Sure! I don’t mind learning now. I think it will be a lot of fun.” She told her, moving to scoot closer to her so that she could see all the strings. “Wow, you have so many colors.” She mentioned, leaning in to sift through the colors. It was definitely great to have a friend like Jazzi. She just hoped that she could give her the best birthday when her’s comes around… just like she had down for her.
