When she had originally set out to get a few laundry list items finished, it didn't look like it was going to move beyond a typical summer sunny day. What Stormy got instead were clouds rolling in like an invading force shortly after she grabbed her laundry and shoved it in the car, which only grew steadily darker as she drove to the nearest grocery store. A naturally very packed parking lot-situated one to boot. So it was that she found herself trapped inside said store as the rain began to pour outside, too slow to get to her car without getting soaked to the bone.
Of course, this was why she always carried a Kindle in her purse. Heavy weight or not, one never knew when they would get stuck reading! And God knew she didn't want to think about how much she had just spent, essentials or not.
So, with her cart of fruits, microwaveable meals, and ice cream off to the side, she leaned against the wall where one automatic door was close by and began to read.

Shopping was frustrating, nowadays, so Sunny didn't do much of it herself -- at least, not for actual food items -- but snacks? Those she could manage easily enough, basket braced against her hip, foot sometimes hooked under the shelves for balance. Nothing wrong with a little junk food. (Or, uh. A lot of junk food. If anything, she needed to gain some weight back, and this was probably a decent way if not medically sound?)
The rain, though... that was an issue. Running was absolutely out of the question since she'd walked here in the first place, so it looked like she was probably trapped until it let up -- hopefully soon? There was only so long Sunny was comfortable being out in public anymore.

As she shifted from foot to foot, rereading e.e. cummings, a shock of lightning and sudden thunder blared and threw off her rhythm. In that moment of looking up and flinching, she happened to see a familiar, one-armed woman, and in that brief time her eyes lingered. (As so many others had, she would imagine.)
"Oh! Hello," she said, as if looking at the woman required her to socialize by some silent and binding contract. "Got caught out here, too?"

"Unfortunately," Sunny sighed; she saw Stormy's eyes linger (how could she not? she was on hyperalert waiting for people to do it all the time, impossible to hide) but said nothing, indicated nothing, except for the quick-flicker of her eyes from making eye contact down to the floor, and away, and to the walls. Antsy, probably. "I didn't bring an umbrella, so I can't just walk back the way I came... it should let up soon? Hopefully?"
The upturn of her voice was more questioning than hopeful.

Stormy glanced at the curtain of rain currently sloshing beyond the automatic door. "Hopefully," she echoed, in word and in tone. Else they might have to eat their groceries out of the bag.
She turned and faced her once more. "Sorry about that weird guy," she said, like she had something to do with bumping into him at the convention. "I didn't know pins were collectibles like that. You looked like you had a good bunch."

"I've dealt with guys like him before," she offered, world-weary. "The way it works is that a lot of conventions, especially the larger ones, have pins or sculptures or toys that you can only purchase at that specific convention that year - it's all a bunch of false rarity stuff, but I guess it kind of turns into a status thing? But it appeals to a really uncomfortable subset of guys, so sometimes I run into them regardless. It was bound to happen." Bound to happen or not, she didn't seem all that happy about it, but then again Sunny didn't seem all too cheery in the first place today.

"Oh...I'm sorry to hear." That was...yeah, uncomfortable was the word. Stormy didn't quite understand why that would become a show of status, though: did it really matter who went to what con that year? Heck, this one hadn't even been centralized on video games and stuff.
"Did you have fun, though?" She closed her Kindle and offered a smile. "I was sorta stuck behind my booth most of the time, so I didn't get to see a lot. I heard we had some interesting booths?"

"Oh, I mean, I had fun! I just left a little early due to, you know, crowds and things." 'Things' could have covered any number of instances or problems, which was exactly as vague as Sunny had meant it. Her problems weren't anyone else's business, except for when they were, which as long as she had her way was maybe twelve hours a year total. "Did the booth go alright?"
