she'd always remember the first day that she met Draven, walking by that alcove that he had been writing in and just casually flirting. It had been slightly out of character but she had fun with it. She didn't know it was going to escalate into what it did. Didn't know they would fall in love, move in together and start a family. A family she was so utterly proud of however her oldest child was now entering their senior years at the academy and most of her other children where juniors. It made her proud to watch them grow up and become their own people. To go out and find there own significant others with their own adventures. However now she was graduated from university and well she missed the pitter patter of little feet. Hearing the door open, yue listened to the footsteps and smiled, well it wasn't the best time to spring her question on Draven but the idea would just fester until she asked him so better to get it out of the way. Standing up and pushing her grading papers out of the way she tracked down the love of her life, " so our house is totally getting lonely again with our eldest growing up. Can we add a couple more?" She asked with a smile. Okay so she coke have worded that better but it was out there.

Incredible how little choices, small things, could change the flow of a life. A chance meeting here, a risk taken there, sometimes unexpected situations popping up, until you find yourself sitting back and just going 'huh'. Who knew things would end up here? Who would've guessed?
The nights were quieter now. The house full of less chaos. He'd taken up art again, a sketchpad laying across his lap as he sat outside on their front steps; his hands smudged with charcoal. One of his favorite albums was playing quietly, something a couple of the kids would snerk at for sure if they were around to hear. Damn shame the band broke up. It reminded him of his odd roommates back in uni though, and muddling through homework while a plush bat tied to the fan made a slow circle around the room. Of hidden bits of candy, stolen and replaced with other things, and other memories that made him smile to himself.
Yes, life had an odd way of working itself out, but you know what? He was ok with that. Particularly for one reason. Speaking of, it was getting darker out here and it was about time he headed in for the night. Didn't want to disappear for too long anyway, even if the kids weren't as dependant anymore. Sticking a sheet in the book to protect from smudging, he closed up shop on their little porch and headed inside.
He hadn't even finished depositing everything on the kitchen counter when Yue padded into the room, her mischievious grin in place. Uh oh. Wiping his hands on a rag, he turned and leaned his back against the counter, giving her a knowing look and a small smirk of his own.
"I was only gone for half an hour, missed me already?"
He tilted his head slightly as she started making her case, blinking twice as he processed the request. Not... what he'd been expecting honestly, but not surprising either. She wasn't wrong, they were at their best when caring for the kids together, and of course even if it meant even more chaos, and back to the long hours and the grind, it was always worth it to see that soft look on her face. And to watch them grow up? Nothing short of amazing. They were all so unique, and yet so much like Yue in some ways. Probably like himself too, but as if someone condensed the best of himself.
Dropping the rag on the counter, he stepped forward to envelop her in a tight hug, wrapping his wings over her shoulders for a moment before pulling back to rest a hand on her cheek, rubbing the the contour of it with his thumb. And leaving a slight gray smudge behind. Whoops. Ah, she'd see it later, wasn't the moment to mention it.
"You can't stand a quiet house huh? You know I'd never say no to you. To that question."
Leaning in to kiss her forehead first, before her nose and then finally her lips, he didn't pull away until they were both dizzy for air. It might be their last tender moment for awhile, after all. Little kids took a lot of time and attention, and it looked like they might be getting back into the fray. Hopefully. It was always an adventure he was happy to embark on, as long as it was with her.

She beamed, quite happy that Draven always went along with her crazy ideas. However she knew she was a very lucky girl and made sure not to abuse his approval. Truthfully though it was always special imbuing with him, and she loved giving tiny children homes even if they hadn't come from her magic. She wanted everyone to feel loved. Of course it wasn't like she could adopt everyone but she could give home and love to who she could.
" well of course I missed you, I always miss you when you are gone, even if it's just outside or to the grocery store" yue replied. She smiled and snuggled into the hug. Draven gave the best hugs.
"As for the quiet house, I am a Geist after all and we love large families" she teased but glad he said yes. She couldn't help smile into the kisses, giving her own back. Yeah wouldn't have expected this time all those years back but life was good, excellent and happy and full of love and that was what truly mattered.
