Once again, Nara found herself on the border of the gems pride. She was fluffed up, under a branch in a tree, back in her chick form. Instead of watching the world, she felt herself dozing off under a wing. A small frown was on her beak, as a dream ---more like nightmare, plagued her mind.
She saw red. Clear eyes staring straight at her, a fire burning within them. A pain on her chest erupted, causing the goddess to flail in her slumber, shrieking out as she awoke with a start.
She looked around quickly. "Just a...nightmare?" Nara whispered, dark eyes blinking blearily, her feathers puffing up again to make her look like a small ball. She sighed. There went that nap.

On a nearby branch, high above, a large white eagle turned his head, a vibrant blue eye focusing on the small bird below. He had watched the young eagle for sometime, following her unseen and silent. He knew who she was, who she had been. In her past life, he had been her father, and though they she did not know him, he would always remember her. "Bad dreams, young one?" Griffith, god of balance, fluttered from his high branch, settling to perch on a branch much lower, closer to her lever so she did not have to look so high to see him. He was a large eagler, larger than any mortal bird despite his smaller size in his true form. His feathers pure white, his beak silver, around his neck the red pendant he carried through each life. His voice was soft, kind, but with an air of mystery to it, a gentle (perhaps fatherly) smile on his beak.

Nara flinched at the voice, dark eyes uprooting to the branch above, spotting an eagle perched above her. The frown remained on her beak, curious how long the avian had been there. "Oh...Umm... Yeah..." she said quietly, her feathers starting to return to their normal state. She still was a butterball of a bird, but less fluffy looking. She eyed the pendant around his neck, her wings reach to her own to grasp the nonexistent one that should be on her too. Nara sighed, shaking her head as her wing returned back to her side. "That's a pretty pendant," she cooed quietly, turning around to now face the larger eagle. "Did you find it somewhere?" Maybe she could find a new necklace, since she doubt she'd get hers back.

"Dreams can only hurt you if you let them." The gesture toward her own pendant did not go unnoticed, nor did its absence. He remembered the pendant well, it had been similar to his own. She seemed troubled by its absence, and silently he wondered what had happened to it. Had it been lost before he had found her? "Many years ago. So long ago I no longer remember a time when I did not have it." The eagle flew from his perch to settle at her side, allowing her a closer look if she wished. The strange pendant had followed him through each lifetime, as if it had always been meant to be at his side. Even if he lost it, it would find its way back to him. At times the pendant seemed almost alive, its shape seeming to shift and change eerily each time one looked at it.

"Maybe..." she said quietly. However, the pain from this dream felt real. Like the claws actually dug into her chest, markings her for life. She glanced down just to make sure she wasn't bleeding all over the place. When she was satisfied that she was in the clear, she glanced back to the eagle, who know was perched on the ground. Comparatively speaking, the bird was much larger than Nara. Though she was in the form of an eagle chick, he still towered over her. However, the red pendant drooped low enough she could see it better. It reminded her of her own pendant, though she had alternating colors of red and blue. "Does it glow ever?" She questioned, take a step towards him, reaching out to jewel to touch it. She thought better of it when she was just a few millimeters from it, and dropped her wing. "I'm Nara...by the way." She introduced.

Griffith took a step closer to the young goddess in eagle form he knew had once been his child. The father in him wanted nothing more than to wrap his large wings around her and hold her, to assure her that so long as he was there to protect her nothing could harm her (dream or otherwise). But she would not understand, she did not remember him or who she had once been, because he had not been there to protect her in her previous life. A hint of sadness lay behind his eyes, despite the warmth of his smile. "I am not sure if it glows, but it does reflect the light oddly. Sometimes it even seems to change shape." He reached for the pendant with one wing, holding it aloft to allow it to catch the light. "I am Griffith, I am pleased to meet you."

If Nara had been looking up at the eagle's eyes, maybe she would have seen the hint of sadness behind them. She was too mesmerized by the fact that his statement of his pendant changing shape. Her thoughts were brought back to her own pendant and she questions, "I wonder if mine did the same thing." The necklace was a funny thing of hers. She knew it would glow blue or red when around certain creatures, but she hadn't figured out the reasons why before it had been stolen. Nara flashed a small smile towards Griffith at the pleasantries. "SO. Mr. Griffith. What brings you our here?" She had been coming to the borders a few times during the week, and during that time she had not seen an eagle before! (She didn't count herself). Just...a small godlet cub, a god disguised as a raven, a god disguised as a stag and...another god disguised as a lion. A lot of disguises. If only she knew Griffith was also masking who he was behind the feathers.

Griffith shrugged his wings, allowing the pendant to settle back against his feathered chest. There were many ways he could have answered her question, though perhaps none of them suitable. It may not have been a good idea to tell the young goddess he had been watching her because he had once been her father. "Curiosity I suppose. I heard some of my children had visited these lands." As for how he knew that, and how he had found the young Nara in the first place, well that was his secret wasn't it? A father makes a note of knowing what becomes of his children, even when they are no longer his. "Now that I have seen it, I understand why they spoke of its beauty."

"Oh." Nara answered. "Have you gotten to see your children since being here?" The goddess asked with a tilt of her head. She did not remember seeing anymore eagles since being here, but she didn't always come out to the borders. She could have very well missed them on the days she was inside. "It is very pretty. Much different than the storm lands I once lived in." She needed to go back there one day she knew. But how to get there was questionable. She didn't really know how she got here in the first place. Just a will and a poof, and voila, she had materialized. She wasn't sure she wanted to try that again, because if she ended up in a new land, how would she get back here. Flying was also out of the question. Hovering though...maybe.

A nod of his head. "I have found one of them, I believe she is doing well." Apart from an apparent aversion to heights? In the time he had watched the young goddess, in bird or cub form, he had yet to see her leave the ground. Strange that she had not learned to fly yet, perhaps he would teach her if she wished. "Different is sometimes better, sometimes it is not. Do you miss the storm lands?" His head turned curiously. If he had found her then, things may have been different now.

"Well...that's always good!" Nara said cheerfully. "I'll have to keep any eye out if I see any eagle females out next time I am out here!" She grinned. If only she knew he male had been talking about her. "I..." She hesitated. "...I miss my friends there." What few she had. She missed Sitiri and Gaius. She missed Aldan. Dare she say it, she missed Feathers. She even missed Mkhai. "But...I...don't know how to get back there..." And frankly, she did not know if she would want to go back there. Not yet at least. "I like it here though...but it's doesn't have as much going on. I...guess I am just not use to the difference between them right now." She let the other know with a small sigh. "Maybe one day I will go back."

The eagle god gave his once child a reassuring smile. It was not surprising she would miss her friends, it must have been shocking to suddenly find herself so far from them. "I am sure you will see them again. Soon you will be old enough to fly there yourself, and then it will not seem so far." As for teleporting, that was a lesson and subject for another day. If only his poor gray soon had stayed nearby, they could have helped each other more than either of them knew. It seemed he had failed them both.

Nara found herself shaking her head quickly when he mentioned her flying. Oh. No no no. "If I ever go back there, it'll be by walking!" To show the other, she started stomping around. "No flying for this girl. Nope!" She said with a small smile. Walking was where it was at! She looked towards the sky, the flashes she was starting to grow accustom to, but the darkening meant it was time for her to get going. "I probably should head back to the pride. It was nice meeting you Mr. Griffith sir! Maybe next time I can meet your daughter! What is her name? I'll have to keep an ear out for it!"

"Then you will have a very long walk ahead of you. But perhaps someday you will change your mind." Griffith chuckled quietly at her comments on walking. A bird goddess who did not fish to fly, very strange indeed. He would have to find a way to cure her of that, to show her the joys of lying on her own. "I know her as Gwenhwyfar, but she has her own name she prefers to use." It would be the only answer, as the eagle spread his wings to effortlessly carry himself into the air. "Rest well, Nara, I am sure I will see you again soon."
