It was the middle of the day, and while not the brightest idea he’d had, he’d gotten fairly… bored with all his nighttime antics. Plus, his sleep schedule was absolutely terrible. So, with a small bit of reluctance, Vladimirite began to do his work in the middle of the day, which would be fine if one didn’t get caught and send three bicyclists fleeing the scene of his latest victim, a jogger down one of the more rural paths.

Snorting back some air and frowning under the scattered shade, he kept trying to frag the body further off the path- sadly, with so little ground coverage, he guessed he’d just have to leave it in a bush halfway.

Hydor did not particularly wish to patrol during the day, or during the night, or during the evening, or during the morning--

Honestly, it was his preference not to patrol much at all, but he had come to the discovery that during the day, he was less likely to run into anyone of Chaos. For self-preservation's sake, whatever little of it he had, Hydor had decided that he would go out during the daytime, this time. He could pretend to Faust that he had actually patrolled usefully when the guardian cat decided to be a goddamn pain in the a** like he normally was, and all he needed to do was circle a neighborhood a few times and call it a day.

It should have been an easy patrol, and honestly, it had started out that way. As he expected, Chaos mostly kept themselves off the streets during the daytime, their dark activities better suited for the shadows. Unfortunately for Hydor's intentions, for some godforsaken reason, he managed to come across the small pulse of a Chaotic aura. Hydor was tempted to just leave it to its business, not really feeling like a fight today--or honestly any day--but it caught his notice that the lieutenant appeared to be dragging a ... body.

Hydor came a bit closer.

The body appeared to be pale and unmoving. It did not seem like rigor mortis had set in, but the body certainly did not belong to a living human being. Had the lieutenant taken his starseed? Had he eaten it?

"Have you consumed his soul?"

Vladimirite had not expected company. Much less company in the form of a senshi. Which was annoying at best. He’d tried to move faster when he’d felt them approaching, but he’d barely managed to get the body halfway into the buse when they arrived. And to make matters, worse, they had sussed out the situation. Not that it was hard to figure out, the person looking like they were soon to be six feet under as the saying went.

“Now why would I go an tell you that?” He replied, eyebrow raised in curiosity. “Let’s just say you won’t be recovering it. Ever.” Dropping the legs of the body, he reached to his belt out of habit, the comforting weigh of the scabbard filling his palm.

“I take it you won’t toddle on home and leave me to my work, will you?”

The first comment was met with a raised eyebrow, but the second was met with narrowed eyes.

"I wonder if making you vomit would be effective."

So this lieutenant had consumed the soul of the person he was dragging, already. It did not take a genius to figure out what the agent had been implying, especially in response to the statement Hydor had made.

Confirmation that this agent performed the disturbing behavior disgusted Hydor. While he had no particular concern for protecting the citizens of Destiny City, the idea of eating their immortal soul sat wrong within his gut. Sylvite had implied that not all of the agents did that, but either way, she had believed it was justified. (It was not.) It appeared that this one did.

Hydor had no particular interest in fighting, even against someone who appeared to be only armed with a scabbard, of all things. He could not very well let someone who had just eaten an immortal starseed of someone who was supposed to be sent back to be reborn just leave, though. The concept of doing so did not sit right in his gut, so much as he wanted to just let the agent continue with his so-called 'work.' ******** appeared he did not have much of a choice.

"I will not toddle, lieutenant," replied Hydor, attempting to place himself in a defensive stance.

Vlad look of disgust was plain. Eating a starseed? Did this senshi really think he'd be so vulgar? He wasn't about to eat a soul like some bad demonic heathen, much less one from a stranger. Plus, there was the whole addiction issue. Hardly an ideal thing, eating what your employer desired.

"How crass. I have no intention of emptying the contents of my stomach, much less give you what you stupidly think will make this man live." What was the point really, of saving the life of a stranger? It's not like these senshi really had anything invested in them. A pointless endeavor.

"But if you insist on a fight-" The scabbard in his hand, he ran the senshi, swinging wide seeking to hit his side.

The look of disgust quirked the edge of Hydor's lip, just for a moment. Perhaps he should not have been so disgusting to have eaten a starseed, then--

Though the statement about giving him something back that may make this man live was curious. Perhaps he was misinterpreting the data he had been given? Perhaps the starseed had only been stolen, not consumed--

Even if he was, he had no real time to think about it, the knight moving to charge at him. There was a second where Hydor thought does he plan to stab me with a scabbard? in incredulity, but while his brain was mocking the man in front of him, he was physically reacting. As he was charged, Hydor threw his arm in the air, before slamming it down towards himself, screaming, "Whirling Protection!"

The name of his attack was comical at best, but it did do its job, springing up a swirling set of clouds around him. The scabbard's attempt to stab at him would be buffeted away by the swirling winds.

It was too bad he could not actually act in turn while under this protection.

Sailor Scout Attack: Whirling Protection!
Hydor throws an arm in the air, and either lowers it towards himself, or lowers it towards an ally. Either himself or an ally finds themselves surrounded by a Wall Cloud. They are essentially in the "eye," protected from the enemy in a calm area as they are more difficult to see or reach. When an enemy approaches, or the target approaches an enemy, the enemy will find themselves buffetted by moderate winds that are circling around the cloud. The target cannot actively attack for the duration of this buff.
Uses: 2 uses per battle
Duration: 30 seconds
Range: Localized

As soon as the attack was said, Vladamirite stopped his charge, Halting outside the wind. His scabbard was not buffeted away as it never reached the swirling barrier, and outside of it, Vlad smirked.

"Well, now isn't that a fun trick." He pulled out the starseed from his jacket pocket, holding it aloft. "But now you can't get to me either."
He considered the reprimand he'd get for doing what had occurred to him but, Vlad also knew that it would in many ways be a mercy. Starseed fed to youma was much the same fate.

The crack was audible and Vlad winced as he did so. Perhaps next time, he'd not be accused of eating the damn things.
"While I don't know your name, I wish I could say it's been fun but no, it hasn't." The starseed cracked again.
"Consider this the fruits of your labors." The starseed shattered in his hand, causing the agent to flinch as it turned to dust. Forcing a cruel smile on his face, he turned, running off into the wood.

It seemed that his opponent was smart enough to stand back, which was fine with Hydor. So long as they were not actively injuring him, Hydor did not particularly care. This would, perhaps, give him time to think of a strategy in which he might find a way to win this situation, or perhaps take the starseed back if it was in a position that was not being dissolved in stomach acid.

How did consuming a starseed even work? Did it instantly dissolve, diffusing into the body, or was it more like eating a protein bar?

"Mm," said Hydor in response to the agent noticing he was also safe from Hydor, now. That was the primary--

Ah, he did indeed not eat the starseed. Conven--

The crack resounded in his ears.

Well.

Hydor did not dignify the agent with a response, not an offer of his name, not a snark in turn, not even a gasp of horror or shock, watching as he ran off into the trees as the clouds faded away from Hydor.

But as he stayed quiet externally, his thoughts were swirling. Another soul pulled from the cycle, in which he was useless to stop. Of course he had been useless. It came as little surprise to him, considering he could not recall the last time he had contributed anything useful to humanity, to those around him, especially to even himself.

He supposed this was the same.

There was a moment where he wished it had been his starseed shattered as he vacated the scene.
