With every passing day, Nara felt herself growing bigger, if only by a little bit. She decided what better way to become more of an adult, by learning to hunt! Sure she should get the help of an adult, but, Nara was a goddess (albeit, in disguise), surely that had to account for something, did it now?

She would soon find out.

Tucking her gauntlets in a safe place (her necklace still remained in the stormborn lands, stolen by the reaver who accused her of being a thrall), Nara set up, looking for a good target. Something little would be easier maybe? But something big? That could start a name for her in the pride! Her dark blue eyes scanned for a target, finding one near the horizon. What a big...what was that?

Her head tilted as she watched the stag. Well...it was something... She crept towards the creature, wondering if she should go for the front or back. Hmm. Choices.

The stag was massive, his height towering far above any mortal creature that inhabited these lands. The impressive rack of antlers on his head only added to his image, giving the impression he was even taller than he already was. Apart from his size (and perhaps the fact there were few stags inhabiting these lands), the creature gave no indications of his true form and appearance.

The stag's head turned, a flick of a small tail, hoofed feet trodding lightly across the ground, barely leaving an impression or a footprint. Lowering his head, Corellon tugged at a scrub of grass, nose twitching with his breath as he inhaled, taking in the scents of the land.

A chirping from his antlers earned an eyeroll as the god tilted his head to peer at the song bird he had been unable to shake.

"What is it now?"

Oh, low branch, he had forgotten just how large his antlers were in this form.

Good. The creature hadn't spotted her yet. Perfect little huntress she was!

The lioness continued to creep, remaining low to the ground. One thing she spotted was atop his head a bird. She frowned. She'd have to be careful if she wanted a successful hunt to not be seen by the bird. Oh, he just hit that branch? This could have been Nara's only opportunity to strike!

The small godlet rushed from her hiding spot, launching herself towards the male stag' front leg. She had seen antelope buck before, and figured there was more power in the hind quarters than the front!

"Rawrr!" She growled, her small maw latching onto his leg.

She probably wouldn't even scrape him! But it didn't mean she didn't try.

Corellon may or may not have noticed the cub before she had pounced, if he had, he gave no indication of such. And yet, he did not seem overly surprised when suddenly the small furry creature had latched to his front leg. Green eyes blinked, raising said leg from the ground, his head lowered to gaze at his 'attacker'.

"I seem to have been attacked by a vicious little hunter."

Oh whatever shall I do? The great stag shook his leg in an attempt to dislodge the young goddess. It may have seemed odd to see no anger in his eyes, no threatening flash of his antlers. If anything, there may have been laughter, he after all had nothing to fear from one so small.

In his antlers, the bird chirped, one might think it was laughing hysterically. Might want to watch it there, bird, lest your hysterics shake you from your perch.

Why wasn't the stag falling? She had seen other lion go for the leg, and the creatures would collapse from it! This creature should be doing the same too!

"Grrrr" She growled, trying to shake her head, limb still within her grasp, but finding it useless.

When Corellon shook his leg, Nara found herself losing her grasp, as she rolled a little bit a way from the large deer.

"Why didn't you fall!? All the other deer things fall when the lionesses attack them!" She glared up at the bird chirping. "What are you laughing at?" She growled, till upset she couldn't bring down her first kill.

Nara huffed, turning her glare to the stag. Well. Her looked said to him. She would have sat and crossed her paws too if she was a little younger.

Corellon rolled his eyes, continuing to shake his leg until the little goddess lost her grip. One eye focused on the cub, he examined his limb, sing his tongue to smooth down the ruffled fur. He seemed unbothered by the few scratches she had left, the limb otherwise undamaged.

"Perhaps because you have bitten off more than you chew."

The stag shot a look at the bird still laughing in his antlers. He shook his head to jostle the bird in his roost, earning a chip of protest. (Not that the god wasn't laughing silently himself at the ridiculousness of it all.)

"Don't pay any attention to him, he just likes to hang around. Maybe you should start with smaller prey."

And not the giant deer god.

Nara made a hmph sound as Corellon said she should start with smaller prey. "I wanted a challenge. Not something easy." She was tempted to say something that would reveal her as a goddess, but she refrained. She was learning control, and not to blurt out her being a deity every five seconds was progress.

"Hmph." She hummed again, debating if she should attack his leg again. Ultimately she decided not to. Without the element of surprise, it was useless.

Fine. She would just have try hunting another time. His bird maybe? That was a small creature, right?

Nara growled slightly, as she pounced towards the deer, tempted to climb up him and go for his bird pal.

"Next time choose your challenge more wisely."

A creature his size would have been more than a challenge for any mortal, perhaps even for most gods. It was becoming more difficult not to devolve into fits of laughter himself. It was hilariously adorable the way she sulked at him. Oh was she thinking of trying again? He'd have certainly lost containment of his laughter if she did.

There was an angry chirp as the bird hopped to a higher prong of the antlers to escape the pouncing cub. The stag turned, shifting his body away from the pouncing cub, one forelimb raised to block her.

"I will have to ask you not to eat him. Annoying though he is, I fear I would miss his company."

Yes, he was snickering now, though whether he was laughing at cub or bird or both, well you'll have to be the judge of that.

Just when she was hoping to get at the bird, the creatures leg prevented her. "HEY" she shouted. "You said try for smaller prey. He is smaller than you!" Nara puffed up, finding all the adrenaline building up. She found herself shrinking in size, standing now on two feet instead of four. Her whole body covered in feathers instead of fur.

"Get down here bird brains!" Nara chirped, before pausing, glancing down at herself. "Oh for pete's sake." She groaned. Here she thought she was getting better at controlling her transforming. Yet, here she was, now in her baby chick form, with the biggest pout of her face.

Well, at least the creature before her wasn't a lion. A deer and a bird she was okay with knowing her (not well kept) secret.

Corellon's ears pinned back against the frantic chipping of his feathered companion. His head raised, straining to gaze at the bird perched high in his antlers. It seemed he should have been more specific with the cub.

"Relax, I will not let her catch you. Smaller prey that does not have a large friend."

The bird chirped angrily at Nara once more before settling with a huff on the highest prong of the stag's antlers, it's eyes narrowed to glare at the cub...bird? Wait, what?

The god deer raised a brow, gazing at the lion cub who was now suddenly a bird. Well, that had been unexpected, though perhaps not entirely surprising? At least his reaction remained rather nonchalant, surely not the reaction to the suddenly revelation of a deity she might have expected.

"You might want to work on that if you are trying to hide what you are."

A smirk, poof SUDDENLY LION! The god of nature revealed himself for what he truly was.

Nara frowned as he looked at her wings before sighing.

"I've been trying so hard to control that." Obviously not hard enough. "I don't care if some stupid de----...." Hr words were cut short as the stag revealed himself in his true form. A large lion, with the pelt of a creature she had never seen on his body, and equally large wings at his side. He had antler too, that matched his stag form.

She blinked, a little dumbfounded at the revelation.

"Oh. That's....why...you didn't...fall..." She blinked again, her mouth still open in a look of disbelief. "I didn't know you could change into a deer." She said mesmerized. "Are you something too?" She asked the avian, finding herself materializing back to her goddess form.

"Who are you?" She asked, back the god.
PostPosted: Sat Aug 18, 2018 11:00 am

"No, I didn't fall because I am ten times your size."

And significantly heavier. Being a god had nothing to do with it. The cub would find that even mortal animals of significant size would not fall so easily to a predator. Hopefully she learned that before she went after something like an elephant...

"I can change into many things."

And then the lion was gone, replaced by the form of a massive gray wolf. As a wolf his form was similar to that of the stag, appearing as a (mostly) mortal wolf, his wings and the items he wore vanishing as he changed. Well, that is apart from his massive size the antlers that still adorned his head.

"No, he is as he appears. I am Corellon, a pleasure to meet you."

"Um..." She blinked as the god transformed into something else.

"Is...that suppose to have antlers?" She had not seen a creature like that before, but mortal lion didn't have antlers. And while the wolf was not a lion, she was pretty positive they shouldn't either.

"Oh. Well.. Hi there bird. Sorry I tried to get you." She said with a small smile. "Corellon," She repeated, glancing at the wolf disguised god. "I'm Nara!"

She shuffled on her feet slightly, glancing in the direction she left the rest of her gear. It should be fine there a little while longer. "What is it you do?" She asked the god. "Are you like...god of many creatures?" It would make sense if he was.

The wolf god shrugged, settling to sit on his haunches, bushy wolf tail swishing behind him.

"I like having antlers. What else would my little bird friend perch in?"

He shook his head, the truth was he felt oddly out of balance without the rack of antlers on his head. He also found they made quite the impression, frightening off many would-be poachers on sight, and running through those who dared to stand against him to harm his 'forest'.

A warm smile, one fluffy raised in a friendly greeting.

"I am the guardian of Nature."

"I don't know. A tree maybe where birds are suppose to be?" That's where the raven always sat, high in the perch.

"You're weird." She gave the other a face, but otherwise shrugged it off.

"Ohhh. I guess makes sense." She nodded firmly. "Well, Corellon, guardian of Nature. I am guardian of....Fidelity." She gave a wide smile at that, still not quite sure what to think of it. One day she would learn. Until then, she liked introducing herself as it.

"I probably should get going too, before some of the lions in the pride notice I am missing. Next time though, I promise not to bite you. Or, your bird friend either!" She grinned, turning away to collect her gear, before heading home.
