There were always tournaments that were going on to rank players based on skill, luck, and other things and there was no exception when it came to racing games.

The team at Argent Industries was keeping their eyes peeled on social media, advertisements and so much more for people they thought might be worthy of receiving a ticket for their upcoming convention.

There'd been a small one that someone at the company had been keeping their eye on and there was a username that popped up a few times that kept their attention.

Finally, when the player made it to the final round, they sent them a message.

"Ha!" screeched Raina, aka Raibeam, as she ripped off her headphones. She resisted the temptation to stick her tongue out immaturely at the losers next to her, knowing that "unsportsmanlike" behaviour would not be tolerated by the runners of the tournament.

Instead, she slapped on a grin which suited the victory she was feeling as she turned to the boy next to her and offered her hand. He shook it, begrudgingly, and offered what might have been a slightly bitter, "Good game." She was, after all, a girl, and some dudes did not appreciate her invasion into their little gaming boys club. Raina didn't care. In fact, it probably just made her grin even wider.

"Good game!" agreed Raina, before letting go of his hand and waltzing right off the stage after a few more handshakes and high fives. She needed to wait to find out who the rest of her competitors were going to be.

In the meantime, she pulled her phone out of her pocket and opened a few applications. First, she did a quick check on her instant messaging app, because of course she did. Gotta to keep up to date on the latest chats, after all. She sent a text over to her mother telling her that, yes, she had made it to the final round, no she didn't need to be picked up right now she was doing fine--

And then one Raina opened up her gaming-related email and glanced to see if she had gotten any new messages.

The message was relatively simple, when it came through.

[Message to RaiBeam: Congratulations on your win!

We at Argent Industries would like to invite you to beta test the first run of a potential up-and-coming MOBA at the events of our upcoming convention!

This invitation requires attending said convention in which we'd like to invite you to come to our company's building to acquire them.

As you are a minor, parental supervision is required as well as permission. Please print and provide a signed version of the attached document upon requiring your tickets.

We look forward to seeing how you fare in the game.

Sincerely,

Argent Industries ]

What was this? Raina squinted at her newest email, wondering if it was just spam, but went ahead and opened it. If it was spam, it wasn't like she didn't have a way to put it into--

Oh, she was getting invited to beta test a game?!

Sweet!

Raina barely knew anything about MOBAs, honestly. She was primarily a racing gamer, and when she did play anything else, it was usually a Nintendo-style platformer or maybe the occasional RPG. It didn't matter in particular that she knew nothing about MOBAs, though. She was getting invited to beta test something. Someone was acknowledging her skills as a gamer.

The parental supervision thing didn't miss her notice, and she groaned with an eyeroll. She was fourteen. She thought she was past this stage by now...

Considering the s**t she saw as a superhero, did she really need to be supervised at a convention, playing a video game?

She guessed they didn't know she was super, though.

Raina opened up a message and typed out a reply.

[ Message to Argent Industries: Hey Argent Industries!

Thanks for the congrats!! I'm 100% in for this. I'll bring my mother with me for the pick up.

I look forward to kicking a** in your MOBA!

- Raibeam ]

She was sure Mama wouldn't mind, right?

This type of work was boring for the young woman that sat at the desk on the other side of the computer. Secretary and assistant work wasn't nearly as fun or as exciting as pole work tended to be, but it was a more steady and stable income that was relatively flexible and came with a lot of perks.

Like her hot boss(es).

So, despite the mundaneness of it all, Cassadega Bright resigned herself to doing even the most boring of tasks, like pay attention to stupid nerd tournaments (ignoring that one of her boyfriends often participated in them and that she casually gamed) and emailing people she thought were good candidates for beta testing and convention going.

It was important to the rebranding that the event get a lot of traction so she was doing her part. Begrudgingly.

[Message to RaiBeam:

We look forward to your participation and how you fair in the testing. Tickets should be available for pick up during business hours of 7AM-8PM at Argent Industries's main building. (Address provided.)

If there are any questions or concerns, please reach out to this email or speak with one of the receptionists and they'll assist you to the best of their ability.

Game On Gamer,

The Staff at AI]

It was long-winded and excessively wordy, but Cass figured that was how a lot of professional emails went. She hit send, waited a couple of minutes to see how quickly the girl would respond, if she bothered that was, and then exited out and took her leave of the office, deciding it was time to do something less nerdy and more interesting so that she didn't y'know die of boredom or whatever.

The girl would come and pick up tickets or she wouldn't, it wasn't her concern anymore.

The response back came back pretty fast, and Raina grinned, opening up the new email she received. Those were long business hours, at least. There had to be some point the next day in which her mother wasn't at the hospital in that set of hours. That was like, thirteen hours.

Thirteen hours was definitely enough time to take thirty minutes to go grab the tickets from the Argent Industries office. It was kind of cool they had changed themselves up and were running gaming conventions, now. Maybe someday they'd have something as epic as like, PAX or ComiCon or something...

What, Raina could dream.

And Destiny City was huge anyway, it was ripe for a good convention...

[ Message to Argent Industries:

Got it! I'll come by tomorrow with my mom. See you then!

- Raibeam ]

She got tapped on the shoulder, and Raina turned around, quirking a brow.

"Don't you wanna see your competitors?"

"Oh, right!" and the phone was forgotten as Raina skipped back out to the playing area.
