Seren was walking home from the bus stop, though not her usual one... There had been a big car accident on her normal bus' route, and it had blocked several streets off. Or at least that was what they were told, but a girl never knew, these days. What she did know was that, thanks to the mess, her usual pick up stop was not accessible, let alone any in easy distance. So she had had to go to the stop for another bus, one that came close to home but had a longer walk to her horrible apartment. It involved crossing through a small park, something that had her heart racing... It was not that late, not yet, but she was still scared of being alone in parks, ever since the incident, recently, with... That Man in Green.

But it was the shortest route home, and she had had a long day.

She entered the park, and noticed some kids playing nearby, so she felt a little calmer... She was not alone, after all. She kept going, and was about to exit the park, when she heard a small child's voice crying out in fear. She stopped, frozen for a moment, before turning, and running towards the sound, because it happened again. A child was afraid... She could not leave them alone. She did not know what she would do if it was something like HIM, but she... Could not let a child be hurt. She could not, she knew what that could do to a child's psyche.

What she saw, when she got to a small area of the park that was not as visible to most passersby, thanks to a large-ish hedge, was a child of maybe six, being terrorized by what looked like a cross between an overly large cat, and a hawk. It was horrible, honestly, because it did not have the elegant look that fantasy novels gave gryphons. The beak seemed almost to have torn out of the cat's maw, and the wings seemed out of place. Seren did not know what this unnatural beast was, and it was scaring her. She wanted to save the child, but she did not know how to do so without getting overly hurt.

She froze, and ducked behind a tree, shaking with concern. How was she going to do this? She heard the child scream for her mommy, and it hurt Seren's heart, in more ways then one. She took several deep breaths, eyes closed, refusing to give in to panic, though it was hard. Her heart was pounding in her chest, and there was an odd buzzing in her ears.

Wait. Was it in her ears? Her eyes popped open and she was startled to realize there was a small... silvery looking star tipped wand that had appeared in the air in front of her? She stared at it, and almost fled, because things appearing out of nowhere was not natural or normal. But then... Then she heard the child's terror again, and without thinking, she snatched at the wand, in the hopes it would help her. She did not really get what happened next, because there was a long flash of color, and her vision was obscured... She found herself panting in surprise as she realized her clothing was different, very different. She started, then stared... And then turned to run towards the child. She did not know, exactly, what was going on yet but she felt... stronger. And the girl was scared.

She darted forwards, and shoved herself between the child and the youma, which had decided to lunge. She reacted by smacking hard at it, with her wand. She had no clue what she was doing, but she kept smacking at it, and even kicked a few times. After some struggle, the creature suddenly backed off, and snarled... then fled. Turning towards the child, she saw that the girl was now running off, calling for her mother. Cheomseongdae... and why did this name suddenly pop into her mind as her own?... let her go, taking several deep breaths. She found herself wanting to be back to normal, and she wished the weapon, and the weird clothing were gone. To her shock, she went through the same blinding moment, and was... Herself again.

Seren looked around, making sure no one had seen her... And then fled home, running the whole way. This was a lot to take in, but she knew her life had just changed, and maybe she would never have to be helpless again. And that? That was an incredible thought.
