Personality: Joven is quick to act without hesitation. Willing to openly voice his opinion and stand by them. Along with standing by those who need protection and even those who don't deserve it. Willing to give anyone a chance but not willing to give anyone a second chance. The young kid is stubborn, gullible, and too often lets his emotions get the better of him.
Biography: Born in a family of marine officers plans were made for Joven to become one. Living in a navy base not a day went by without him watching his father train recruits, an eagerness growing alongside the young boy. The eagerness exploding when his older brother, Jove, began his own training. Stealing a whip, his brother's choice of weapon, Joven would copy his brother's training but without guidance the young sailor left whip marks on his skin. Marks discovered by his mother whom told his father. Leading to a wager, if he pushed a five ton boulder around the training court he would be allowed to join in on his father's personal training.
Turning thirteen Joven had collectively moved the boulder zero feet from it's original spot. Disheartened but unwilling to accept defeat he refused to join his father's training until he won the wager. Undeterred by their kid's stubbornness but unwilling to break their word. The justices decided he would begin his training with his mother. Learning medical practices and procedures to become a navy doctor. Being taught lessons of patience, temperance, and compassion. Lessons that weren't taken to heart or seriously, fixing wounds wasn't what he wanted. Joven wanted actions and to beat up bad guys.
Spending most of their days traveling, Joven and his mother wouldn't see his father or brother until one fateful visit. He only had pleasant memories of his father and it broke his and his mother's heart seeing him in a hospital bed. Combat with a fishman captain had done him in and that same pirate was being transported to Crimson Island for execution. Acting first and thinking later Joven snuck on board, with a knife at hand and a plan to execute the pirate before he arrived to the island. Fate was handing Joven his revenge as a storm hit the ship and amidst the chaos, he snuck to the deck of the ship where the fishman was chained.
The pirate was bruised and bloodied, momentarily as the rain washed the blood away. As the monster gazed upon the young marine his eyes were drawn to the dagger the child held and then to his expression, angry and in turmoil. The dagger was drawn towards his neck. A trembling hand struggling to move but finding strength in his anger, he slowly sank the blade into the monster. But as blood was drawn, the kid dropped the knife tears in his eyes. Stumbling backwards with a shocked expression turned frighten as the wet deck caused him to slip backwards and off the ship. Falling overboard the kid would feel the fury of ocean when waves came crashing down on him.
Waking once more, the storm still raging on, water regurgitated from his lungs. Gasping for air, Joven noticed the navy sailors standing above him as well as standing around a freed pirate. Hearing muffled voices, drown out by the storm, before losing consciousness again and waking the next day. While he hoped to forget that day there was one thing he would never forget; as waves kept crashing down on him, a fishman came splashing down in to the water. Swimming towards him as his vision went dark. With the storm past Joven was questioned for obvious reason and it was eventually decided that he would be sent back after they delivered the recaptured pirate. In that same day he discovered why the fishman had bruises and cuts on him, the crew would occasionally throw objects at him all while laughing at the dead man. The aspiring marine quickly put a stop to it, standing before the bully and bullied even when they tried shoving him away. They discovered how stubborn he truly could be. So as the days went by Joven would sit alongside the fishman, uncertain of what to say to him.
But the day came when his savior would face his execution and no amount of stubborness from Joven would stop it. As the man was taken away Joven asked the question that had been gnawing at him since he was saved. "Why save me?" All the man said was, "Only a monster would allow a kid to drown." A sentence that Joven would forget over the years but his heart would never forget what he felt, humanity in what he once saw as a monster.
As years went on his dislike for studying medicine never went away but a sense of duty kept him focused. The boulder even started to budge and by the time he reached sixteen it had moved around the track. His official marine work would began.
