Daphne could say with certainty that she wasn’t a fan of DCU. She had given it a full year, but she was honestly regretting signing up for classes for the fall, and though she had halfheartedly picked a political science major…she felt nothing but contempt for the subject and honestly…just wanted to quit the place and give up schooling as a bad job.
Though what she would do after, she had no idea.
Today though, today she was shoving her worries to the back of her mind, because today she was going on a date. Well. In her mind it was a date. She had asked Penny out for ice cream and the older girl had obviously accepted, and now came the difficult task of finding an outfit that made her seem…mature…but still approachable…but still…desirable.
Hot. She wanted to look hot.
And all of her cute clothes looked as though they would make her really hot…and not in the way she wanted.
With a sigh, she decided on some flowy low-cut blouse and a pair of jeans that showed off her legs to the best of their ability, and after realizing she would be late if she didn’t hurry, ran out the door, hoping to reach the ice cream parlor before the designated meeting time.
Of course, as she crossed the threshold, she was five minutes late but…hey.
She was here.
She looked good, now all she needed was…Penny. Bright eyes roamed around the patrons seated inside the cool shop, hoping to catch sight of the blonde.

Penelope didn't spend nearly as much time picking out her outfit as her late companion did. Instead, she had picked out an outfit that was simple and befitting of her status as librarian while also having the potential to be sexier, if she unbuttoned the top of her blouse a bit. It was a simple outfit, a pastel colored blouse with a peter pan collar, a high-waisted skirt, tights, and a pair of oxfords.
Her hair was in it's typical partially shaved updo and she'd even gone far enough to wear earrings for the occasion.
She'd also arrived early, by five minutes, so that she could take a seat while she waited. But then the time for Daphne to arrive had passed and then another five minutes.
Pen had checked her phone, frowning at the lack of text and the way the minutes kept ticking on. Perhaps she'd been mistaken and Daphne hadn't really wanted to see her and she was nearly ready to collect her things and take her leave when she spotted the familiar hair.
"Here I thought you were going to keep me waiting," she pouted.

Daphne’s eyes lit up at the sight of the blonde and she hurried over, shaking her head vehemently. “No, no. I just lost track of time, that’s all. I didn’t mean to keep you waiting I thought that I had a lot more time than I did to get ready and I just…”
No. No.
She had to be cool. It was just so easy to get flustered when she was in Penny’s presence. She wanted to be like the girl. Popular. Sexy. Confident…and when she was around anyone else, such a thing was entirely possible though when she was in the blonde’s company she was the world’s biggest bumbling idiot.
A high schooler with a crush on a beautiful perfect college girl.
Someone who was always looking up. Always inferior.
“What would you like, Penny? This is my treat, obviously…and…” She hesitated, grinning. “You look absolutely beautiful, by the way. As always.” That was better. That was smooth.
If she were lucky, perhaps she could segue this date into something longer. Perhaps a walk? Perhaps she would even get a chance to kiss the blonde a little. That would be absolutely utterly ideal.
“Anything you want, and it’s yours~”

Penelope didn't get flustered, unless she was pretending anyway, but it was amusing to her to watch people get flustered around or because of her. Daphne was no exception, especially since the girl was someone she tried to keep close anyway. Any of the people she drew into the negaverse were people that she nearly helicoptered in some manner.
Penelope liked being the center of attention after all.
"Mm," she purred, "you're looking not too shabby yourself. "A flirty smile was teased from her lips and she reached for the girl's hand to tug her into the seat across from her, fingers lingering against the back of Daphne's hand.
Leaning forward she cast blue eyes over to the menu before looking back over and focusing on the face of her date. "I was thinking...we get a nice big sundae or milkshake to share. What do you think?"

Daphne enjoyed the feeling of electricity that shocked her when Penny took her hand and she slid into her seat without anymore delay. And when the blonde’s hand lingered on hers, she took the opportunity to slid her fingers between those of Penny’s making it a proper hand holding experience.
The smile almost made her melt and the purple haired girl gave a laugh that sounded much more stupid and girlish than she had wanted it too, but nodded. “Yeah, both of those sound like good ideas…though I think the shared milkshake would be better for the whole…date vibe…but…the waffle sundae they have sounds really, really good too…”
Her eyes wandered to the table next to the two where the couple sitting seemed to be sharing one of the overly sugared confections. But…it looked so good.
“The menu says it’s customizable…what flavors would you want? I’m good with anything but bananas…I hate them so I’m…I would rather not share a banana split if you don’t mind…and I’m not so big on coconut flakes? I can’t stand the fact that you just keep chewing them forever.”
Daphne grinned rather sheepishly, wondering if she was saying too much. Demanding too much…
She hoped not. She wanted this date to be perfect.

Penelope didn't pay too much attention to whether or not the sound of Daphne's laugh was ugly, instead, she pretended to peer at the menu before casting her gaze across the ice cream parlor to see if any one else's treat enticed her any which way.
"I'm simple and like things vanilla," Pen teased, using her free hand to trail a finger down the menu until she reached the flavor options. She hummed while she looked them over, only looking up when Daphne insisted that she didn't care for banana splits.
"We should do the sundae," she decided. "Maybe our flavors should stay classic? But I'd like a little fudge and at least a cherry." She purposely licked her lips after, her smile as perfect as ever when she offered it Daphne's way. "What do you think?"

Purple eyebrows raised in slight disbelief as the blonde revealed that she liked things vanilla…that was one of the last things she had ever expected to hear come out of the woman’s mouth but…who was she to argue with her Penny?
“Anything you’d like, Pen. A sundae with Vanilla and chocolate with fudge and whipped cream…and maybe…” She shrugged, then grinned. “Sprinkles and a cherry? Just to be a little fun?
And two spoons. And they could gaze longingly at one another as they ate it. And there could be two cherries so they didn’t have to fight…not that it would be much of a fight. She could deny Penny nothing. The cherry would be hers without even asking.
“Shall I go and put our order in, Pen? I think it sounds really good, if you do.” She was already halfway up, ready to march over to the counter and buy this wonderful treat for the two of them and then get this date started for real and…just relax. Because she wanted to relax.

"Sprinkles would be a nice touch," Penelope agreed, choosing to look wistfully over at the counter where the treat would be ordered and put together. "Two spoons, so neither of us have to wait," she reminded, though the woman was certain that Daphne wouldn't forget.
Still, if it was on her mind then she'd be pleased that she was already thinking what Pen was voicing.
"If you would, please Daph?" Penelope asked, with her brows lifting and her tongue sliding along her lips that fell into a bit of a pout.
Her hands laced together and her wrists sat dainty on the table, blue eyes watching her date. "Don't stay away too long~"

Daphne grinned and got up quickly, nodding. “Be back in just a moment, Penny. Don’t you look at anyone else, okay?” She winked and turned away, heading over to the counter and ordering the perfect sundae. She remained at the counter, stealing covert glances back at the blonde at the table, both to reassure herself that Penny was indeed still there…and to hopefully make sure that the rest of the ice cream parlor knew that yes, the most beautiful woman in the shop was here on a date with her.
As the finishing touch of the sprinkles and the half dozen cherries were put on the confection with a flourish, Daphne grinned, and when the sundae was given to her, she made her way carefully back to the table, the two shining silver spoons sticking out of the fancy glass dish clinked merrily as she set it on the table. “Ta da! And so, we have the sundae to end all sundaes. My sweet Penny, won’t you have the first bite?”
Just to make sure that it was perfect. Just to put the finishing touches on this most perfect date.
“And I made sure to get more than enough cherries. I think they did a good job!”

The flirty laugh was given in response to Daphne's insecurities.
"You should know that if I'm with you, my attention is all yours~" Penelope called after the woman, waggling fingers before she let her gaze fall away. She did not look at anyone else, instead she examined her cuticles and thought about how it was likely time for another manicure.
She would have to check her schedule to see when she could squeeze a trip to the nail salon in.
Penelope also looked slightly bored by the time Daphne returned with their sundae, her phone left face down on the table to keep from detracting from her date.
"It looks delightful," she cooed, plucking up a spoon and doing exactly as her companion asked. Metal slipped into the ice cream, into toppings and scooping up a cherry before it was carefully slid into her mouth.
If her pulling the spoon out of her mouth after savoring the taste of sweets on her tongue was a bit sensual well...it was probably intention.
"It's perfect Daph."

Daphne watched eagerly, hardly even daring to breathe until Penny said that it was good. And at that, she gave a sigh of utter relief and delight, sliding her own spoon into the confection and nodding eagerly. “I’ll say so, yes.”
Finally, the purple haired girl relaxed in her seat. Sure that she had done everything possible to make this date perfect, or at least as close to perfect as it could be.
Though, now that they had their ice cream…Daphne couldn’t quite figure out what to do other than eat it…and that didn’t seem like a very romantic way to go about life at all. Finally, after what felt like at least three lifetimes when the only sound in her ears was the soft clinking of spoon against ice cream dish, the purple haired girl cleared her throat, trying to play it cool as always.
“This has…been nice, and I think we should do it more often.” Like all the time if she could get away with it. At the very least once a week…but then again, Penny was so very busy but…
…But damn if she wasn’t important!
“I enjoy spending time with you, and I don’t get the chance like I used to. I miss going to Romanos. Visiting the library was always the best part of every day.”

Daphne's clearing of her throat had Penelope's brows raising, the spoon resting against her tongue with mouth closed and delicate fingers wrapped around the handle. She waited, slowly pulling the spoon out and resting her elbow on the table while she held it up, leaning in so that her companion had her full attention.
"You know," she said softly, in a way that would make Daphne almost strain to hear her. The spoon went down, metal pushing into the soft, melting sundae, and she paused, her smile almost a smirk. "If you want to spend more time with me Daph, you just have to ask."
The spoonful of ice cream was pulled from the glass and delivered to her mouth. Afterwards, it was set on the table and Pen licked a stray drop from the corner of her mouth.

It took all of Daphne’s willpower not to just gape at the beautiful blonde she was sitting here with, but after a moment, she nodded when the words registered in her mind.
Her heart began to pound in the most irregular fashion and she had to bite down on her lip to stop the most ridiculous giggle from coming up and utterly embarrassing her forever. Finally after taking a good long moment to compose herself, Daphne nodded. “Well, then yes of course you know that I always want to spend more time with you. You’re obviously the person whose company I prefer to all others.”
She put her own spoon down and wiped her mouth off, almost mesmerized by Penny’s movements, thoughts of kissing those sweet lips again utterly taking over her mind. “I like going on dates with you like this…I like when you make me feel special, and I just…really like you, Penny. Could we do this again? Soon?”
Oh god, did she sound too desperate? She obviously did but…maybe Penny wouldn’t notice.

Penelope didn't show it, but there was a delightful thrill that shivered down her spine at the obvious want that came from Daphne.
"Then we'll go on more dates," Pen replied as if it were that simple and like she didn't have a carefully filled schedule as she balanced everything. Negaverse duties, schoolwork, time with Alrik, the others.
"You tell me when and I'll let you know if it fits in my schedule, how about that?" She offered, taking another spoonful and sliding it into her mouth. "I'm sure I can make time here and there for you Daph."
As long as she gave the appearance that she was prioritizing the girl, that was what mattered.

Daphne nodded, looking as though all of her dreams had suddenly come true. She swallowed and gave another eager nod, biting her lip, though she seemed to be unable to stop the foolish grin that spread across her face. “Yeah? Well…all right then! I’ll…text you when I get home…and we can plan another date like this...I…”
She was giddy and so utterly blissful. Everyone should have someone as wonderful and beautiful and attentive as Penny in their lives…the world would be such a nicer place if they did.
“That sounds utterly fantastic and…I just…Thank you. For always spending time with me…it means the world to me and I just…”
Quickly, Daphne took a large spoonful of the ice cream and shoved it into her mouth to stop it from running away with stupid words.
There was a time and a place for everything…and right now was the time and place to just relax and enjoy the fact that she had the blonde all to herself.Nuxaz This seems like a pretty good Fin I think! <3 If you want to write a closer you can, but it seems nicely wrapped!
