Amon Amon couldn't really believe it. Was he actually apart of a family? Of course, the Bakeneko knew the answer, but it still was like he was dreaming in all reality. The small boy looked considerate as he closed his eyes and crawled off his bed. Sometimes it would hit him, while he was in his room listening to the faint sounds of the rest of the pack talking. His eyes welled up with tears from the love and gratitude he felt. He had been fine living at the orphanage..it wasn't like he wasn't loved or cared for but Amon felt safe where he lived now.
A soft hiccuped sob left the boys lips as he covered his hands over his face, crying softly. He loved his family so much...how did he get so lucky? Milo Milo walked down the hallway, the long-haired boys tail swished aggressively in an extremely good mood. The boy was even humming as he moved along. He had just gotten his hair braided, and it was out of his face which was an awesome bonus. It wasn't like he really wanted it all gone, it was just annoying from time to time when you were running around chasing after you speedy siblings..and it got in your face. Just as he was about to round the corner to go to his room..he heard the sound of faint crying?
Confused he looked around as he whimpered with concern. Milo was one of the quieter kids in the house, but his Pack meant everything to him. Even those who weren't Grimm! It didn't matter, it was what was at heart. The boy's ears laid back as he approached one of his sibling's doors once he realized what the source was. Leaning into the door, he pressed an ear against it. "....Amon? It's Milo..are you okay?" He asked pawing at the door. Amon Amon felt his heart drop into his stomach. Oh, no..he hadn't meant to be overheard. The bakeneko's eyes widened as he froze in place. Holding his breath the child's eyes were wide as he stared with disbelief at the door. Sniffing softly, he began furiously scrubbing at his eyes in an embarrassed manner he cleared his throat. "I..I'm okay! You can come in if you want..." He added reluctantly as his eyes averted onto the floor.
He wasn't even sad...he had just felt a sudden burst of emotion the child simply didn't know what to do with. His gratitude and love for his family were to blame. As soon as he said he could come in, Milo immediately opened the door. The site that greeted him was a look of concern on the Grimm's face. Amon froze in place, like a deer in the headlights. Milo Milo didn't know why their brother was crying, but it didn't matter to the boy. He rushed forward, his arms going around the other and hugging him tightly. They weren't born of the same magic, or even the same race but his Momma and two Pappa's brought Amon into their Pack for a reason, something the little Grimm would never question. All he cared about was comforting the other. Nuzzling into the Bakeneko, he relaxed his hold as he smiled warmly at the other.
Milo looked at the other with a patient smile, before speaking again. "You sure you are okay? I will come to sit with you..or color quietly if you prefer! Or we can play together, you don't have to be alone in your room." He offered to encase the other was lonely trying to cover all his basis. Milo usually kept to himself, but not when his brother obviously upset, was there any other reason needed to invade someone's space? Milo was sure it was a perfectly acceptable, no one should have to cry alone. Amon Amon found himself in the arms of his adopted brother, the others pawed hand patting his back in a comforting gesture. The Bakeneko clung to the Grimm, leaning into them from the support they offered. Inhaling a deep breath, the small boy sniffed softly as they rubbed their own eyes. Sighing softly the other pulled away, fiery orange bangs tousled and wild from their crying and the sudden hug. A smile lined the others face as they nodded at the other. "I am sure...I was just thinking about how lucky I was...then look at what happens!" He beamed at the other, it was like an extra affirmation that they really were in a family.
"I know it's silly why I'm crying...I just..." He rubbed his arm a little after shying back from the hug after giving the other a gentle squeeze. Glancing away from the blue and stripped freshling pulled at their sweater sleeve feeling a bit silly. Hopefully, Milo didn't think it was to weird or anything like that...it wasn't like they were hurting or sad! No, far from it really.
After a moment Amon glanced back at the other, studying the blue-haired Grimm with a curious look in their bright blue eyes. Milo Milo didn't mind when the other squeezed a little harder and even leaned in. Milo might have been quiet in demeanor and appearance, but the Grimm was rock like in the way they offered their support. If anything, Milo took it as a sign the other needed comfort. Amon wasn't a Grimm, but they were still apart of their pack! Plus being family meant that anyway, so this wasn't a matter of what the problem was...Milo just wanted to provide his support in whatever fashion it was most needed.
"We are brothers forever, just remember that. No matter what, or where we go. Okay? I pinky paw swear!" He assured the other with a generous nod of their head.
After a couple of pats and soothing words, the other pulled back and seemed to have a better handle on themselves. Tilting his head, Milo listened to the other watching the way he kept looking away as if he expected something to happen. What was it exactly he was so worried about? That he'd laugh at him for crying? He wasn't really sure what to think and didn't want to spend to much time lingering on sad topics.
When the other was done talking, Milo shook his head softly. "I don't think it's weird at all! If that's how you felt 's okay. I just wanted to make sure everything was ok." He reminded softly, lightly rocking back and forth on their small feet. A considering look crossed the others face. "Say, why don't we go watch a movie together?" He coaxed, offering out a clawed paw. "You don't have to..but I bet some of the others will come too and we can all hang out~!" He added with a sing-song tone to it. The boys tail began lightly wagging back and forth behind him. The look of excitement and hopefulness for the others yes was apparent.
Milo waited, eyes glued to their brother. Amon Amon had expected the other to perhaps make fun of him, or laugh off the reason he was crying. To the young boy's delight, no such outcome was presented when the other instead offered kind words. It was the others support, and generosity that struck Amon as truly amazing. He didn't have to put himself out like that, and yet he willingly did as such. His own tail swished back and forth, mimicking the Grimm's enthusiasm despite the obvious difference in their races. "You are really the best Milo..thanks I mean it!" Amon's childish laughter was both loud and joyous as he beamed at the other.
Hearing his thoughts on how they would always be brothers made his heart thud loudly in his chest. The confident, serene smile the other had shown him conveyed even more than words. It was a look of certainty. This instilled a sense of realization that he had been silly to ever think he would never find a loving home.
A thoughtful expression crossed the others face as Amon nodded in agreement. "I wouldn't mind watching a movie with you okay.." He paused to wander over to get his favorite blanket and a pillow. "Come on! I'll meet you out there." Amon was already scampering out of his room. Milo Milo didn't really have much to say at that moment, he wanted to let the other have a chance to process what he was saying. Instead of ruining the moment, the silence was meaningful and somehow meant more they could share this together. Clearing his throat, as he felt his eyes threatening to well upon him Milo smiled back at the others overjoyed expression.
It was going to be a learning experience for everyone. Any time someone new came to live with them, it was to be expected! Luckily Mama Lir, Pa, a Callahan and Daddy Drisden always provided for the Pack. They had recently even moved into a bigger place to allow for everyone to have their own rooms. It had been a pretty cool thing to have to get adjusted to that was for sure!
Humming happily Milo's ears perked up when the other agreed to watch a movie. Milo loved movie and story time, even if he himself tended to be less apt to talk. He'd come out of his shell some with growing up, but the freshling had plenty of other lively siblings...it wasn't like he wasn't a happy child.
Padding off down the hall, Milo dragged his stuffed animal, pillow, and a blanket to go crash in front of the T.V with Amon. Usually, if they fell asleep, their parents would reroute them to bed. The necessity of the pillow and other like items was for optimal movie viewing, of course. Amon Amon had made his way to the living room quickly to drop off his things off and head for the kitchen. Popcorn and movies seemed like a perfect way to spend the evening. Having to drag a stepladder over, Amon climbed up onto the ladder as he snatched a big bowl to house the two bags of popcorn he planned to make. The smell of popcorn would lure his other siblings...maybe he should make it three bags. The thought made the youngest smile, considering all the various faces and personalities that accompanied that thought.
A few short months ago, Amon would never have known any of them to exist. Milo, Sanyin, Kaia, Gormain, Kahlua, Aodh...the realization on just how much different things were struck him as he pushed the first bag of popcorn into the microwave. Watching the timer like a hawk, the child watched with baited anticipation. He'd learned how to operate the device pretty easily once shown, and was proud he could provide a decent snack considering he didn't like cooking. Two more bags followed the same routine, giving the other a chance to be alone with his thoughts.
Amon wasn't sure what he would be when he grew up, or what the future had in store. He had thought about maybe being a doctor and helping people would be nice. Or studying plants! One thing he did know has he had a family. It seemed repetitive to keep thinking on this topic yet could anyone blame him?
For what it was worth the way the usually nervous and shy boy carried himself seemed lighter. He plopped down the massive bowl of popcorn as he sneaked a couple bites to himself before everyone else helped themselves. Flopping over on his pillow he sighed happily, waiting to let his siblings pick what they'd want to watch. Milo Milo had just crawled onto the sofa with all his stuff when he heard a pop sound. The Grimm blinked, ears rolling back as he huddled down in his blanket. What had that been?! Taking a moment to gather himself, as the sudden loud sound had startled him he leaned over and gazed into the kitchen. The realization of what Amon was up to prompted him to begin selecting a proper movie to match with the snack! Flopping onto his back he draped himself over the arm of the sofa. A lazy smile was on the boy's face as he spotted Kaia come rushing in, followed by Sanyin and even Kahlua. It wasn't everyone, but big brother Aodh usually kept to himself more so than anyone else in the house.
"Good thinking! Thank youuu~" He chimed when Amon came back to sit down. Stuffing a handful of popcorn into his mouth, he turned on a kids movie before resuming lazying across the arm of the sofa. Times like these were the absolute best.
Stretching out a bit, Milo eventually had to scoot to make room which the other did without complaint.
