February 17th[ Text to Fritz:] I love you. The words lingered on her screen for a moment before she hit 'send'. The text itself had gone through several incarnations-- two different heart emoticons, a simple <3, i <3 u and so on-- and she'd finally settled on the plain and simple. Dressing it up in any way didn't change the truth of it, and she'd come to learn some time ago that it was much easier to keep things simple when it came to technologically communicating with Fritz St James. Content that her message had sent, Cordelia tugged on the corner of the blanket draped over the back of the sofa, drawing it down around her as she settled with her book to read.

february 17thHe tried not to be too sappy.
He tried not to be too emotional.
He tried not to be a lot of things, but in the end, the message had given him his heart back, and then it had made him feel as though the world had somehow turned everything inside out and topsy turvy in the best way possible for someone like him.
He was still not very good at texting, but he did so, anyway.
Text to Cordelia: I love you. How are y

"Bloody hell."
"I think you're meant to press this button here, Fritz, there you go - "
"Yes, thank you, Wendell."

February 18th Cordelia blew into her hands as she stepped out of the club and onto the street, rubbing them together for a moment before tugging her phone out of her pocket. Her smile was warm and bright, almost enough to make it seem like dawn had come early to the alley behind the Cat's Paw. [ Text to Fritz:] Just getting out of work. <3 She'd give it a bit before texting him again. If he was asleep she'd send him a 'good morning' later. If he was awake the pleasure of his company, even just over the phone, would keep her warm until she made it back to her place.

February 18thHe was indeed asleep, but rolled over at the ping of his phone, groping for it on the bedside table. Wendell had left sometime during the night to "go on adventures," as he had said, and hadn't yet returned, which meant that Fritz had to figure out which button to press to read his text messages. He squinted blearily at the screen, holding the phone an inch or so away from his face so that he wouldn't have to put on his glasses, and finally registered what it said.
A smile tugged at his lips immediately. He settled down to reply.
Text to Cordelia: How was work? Did you have a good time?

Text to Fritz: Work was good. Busy, but good.
Text to Fritz: I didn't wake you, did I?
Text to Fritz: Go back to sleep if I did. We can get lunch after we've both slept?
Not that she couldn't spend all night up talking to him. Not like they hadn't done just that at least a dozen times before. It was something that she enjoyed about late nights with Fritz; not realizing how late it was until, somehow, they were both watching the sun rise together.

April 30th Monday the thirtieth of April found Cordelia Carden at home in her apartment with at least an hour before Fritz was supposed to arrive for dinner. She'd made a simple request for him to mark the date on his calendar, nudging him with a gentle reminder via text the day before that dinner was at 6 o'clock. It was something that she'd been planning for nearly a week-- nothing that she wanted to make a big deal of, but a day that she wanted to spend with him because it had marked a point in their relationship when things had changed. A year ago to the date Cordelia Carden had realized that she was in love with Fritz St James while dancing with him in a setting so close to fantasy that it had been hard to believe it was real. Cordelia hummed softly to herself as she stepped around the kitchen, making sure she had everything together and prepped for going into the oven. She had timed everything down to the second and there was no reason at all to worry... So why was she so nervous?

April 30th
He was, for some reason, a little nervous - something that Rhys and Hitch both found endlessly entertaining, for reasons unknown to Fritz. They had showed up earlier in the day so that they could all have lunch together, and they had just left so that Fritz could get ready to go over to Cordelia's. And they had parted with matching looks of amusement before Fritz had very deliberately shut the door in their faces.
Now he was pulling on a dark green sweater over his white button down and squinting at himself in the mirror. The scar over his eye was still as prominent as ever, as was the lightened color; the green not quite as emerald as its counterpart. Freckles across the bridge of his nose and most of his face. And the Oath Mark that was invisible at present, but still somehow he could feel, running around his throat.
Fritz ran his fingers over his neck, dropped them, and sighed. Then he was out the door and on his way over to Cordelia's, arriving a few minutes before six, knocking.
