The bakeneko had been waffling about how to go about this for several weeks now. There were many things that could go wrong, after all, but so many things that could work out perfectly. Honestly this whole 'failed date' thing was just the best reason for her to propose it. Now that the subject was out there though, she had to admit a certain trepidation. The looks on their faces had been less than intrigued. More appalled than anything.
But that was just because it had been so unexpected, Calla reassured herself. Of course her friends would see it her way. They almost always did. Everything she did turned out perfectly. After all with looks like hers and the family she came from, how could it do anything but? Everything from the tip of her tail to the tops of her ears was perfectly in place and groomed. Her business was thriving, no doubt thanks to her looks and her abilities. The pieces decorating her was just showing off a variety of her accessories and doubtless drew in plenty of customers.
Compulsively smoothing down her skirt, she took a deep breath before going to finish fixing up the fruit bowl. Fruit was one of her favorite things, so sweet and juicy, how could anyone resist? Not to mention the health benefits she got from it. Honestly, even with the way that date had turned out, Eirlys should still be more cautious about these sorts of things. Shoveling that much ice cream down in an attempt to drown out your sorrows was just plain unhealthy and considering how often Eirlys did it it was no wonder she had a much plusher figure than Calla. Too many sweets did ruin one's figure after all. She sniffed and looked down at her perfectly petite form. Well, Eirlys did carry the weight better than she could have.
It did make her wonder though. . .how would their kids look? Would they be small and petite like her, more lean like Mei, or would they look more closely like Eirlys? Not to mention the patterning. Her lovely calico marks, Mei’s beautiful brown shade, and Eirlys pristine white? Even if they turned into horrid brats, they'd still look fabulous. How could they not with parents like the three of them?
Feeling much better about her decision, and calmer now that she’d thought things through, Calla popped a piece of strawberry into her mouth as she finished fixing the fruit bowl for the three of them to share. No doubt the two of them out there were coming to much the decision she had and would agree wholeheartedly when she swept back out to deposit the fruit bowl on the table. Especially since she was going to bring out plates and some of the tart lemonade that Eirlys had in the fridge thanks to Mei as well.
Some ground rules would have to be set, things like how they would handle the children and what sort of schedule they would have. Whether or not they would share the kids or keep just one to themselves was also a big factor. Calla knew that she wasn’t dealing with more than one of them at a time, so it was up to the other two how they wanted to handle that and how it would factor into their thoughts and feelings on the matter. For today though, talk of it could end with how they had agreed and then she would gracefully turn it to her thoughts on a different kind of mate for Eirlys. She knew a few people, perhaps she could set something up with one of them. Even if they wouldn’t suit Calla, they might end up suiting her friend and she was willing to do a little looking around while the girl gained a bit of confidence from the children they would have together.
Pleased with her plan, Calla swept back out into the living room, passing out the new treats and smiling graciously, unsurprised at their agreement. There had never been a doubt in her mind that they would do anything else.
