[Rolling... and squealing in excitement... THIS GON' BE GOOOOOD]

[Modifier is Strength, but also! "You may add +1 to any ONE roll that your modifier does not already grant you a +1 to of you roll a 2 or less."]

Tight Spaces - 4

Okay, so Shane was feeling good after his shower and he was ready to go, but holy buckets was he feeling kind of uneasy about this new obstacle course. It looked... even less stable than the others. The Questions were bubbling up en masse, and even though he wasn't a Questions guy all the time, he was starting to doubt his sanity in deciding to push forward with all this. Was he really that determined to Seek Glory?

Y'know what? Yes he was.

So, the tight space was pretty tight for a muscley guy like him, but said muscles were his saving grace until midway through, when he had to overclock himself to keep going. That smarted a little, but no pain, no gain. Onto the next one, even if his arms were a bit tired!

Peg Wall - ...even if it was a 2 I'm pretty sure I still need to Quote Skye

Changed to a 3 from reroll!

Shane swore he'd done a lower-stakes version of the peg challenge before. Much lower stakes. But hey, this couldn't be that might harder, right? Right? Sure, he was a little strained from the tight space shenanigans, but he wasn't going to give up!

...Wait, what...?

Quote:
PAGING DR. SUFFERING! (Again)

He dropped the peg before he even got up there! What?! WHAT?! Unthinkable! This was bad. It was all on his arms now. Ohhh sweet mother of everything, that hurt like the dickens. But he made it through by pulling every scrap of determination he could out of himself. His soul was on fire! Or something.

Bungee Plateau - 5, if he makes it?

Becomes 4 due to strength modifier and previous tired arms penalty!

Well golly, this was getting ridiculous. That was a fairly sizable drop onto some not-super-reliable-looking platforms. Still, there was no time to ask questions. At this stage, all he could do was go. The first platform went kind of okay, but he fumbled the second platform and hit it like a truck. He thought he was going to bounce into the mystery abyss below, but no matter how tired his arms got, he just kept going. He held on, though; he was SO close!

Ascension - 4???

This was it. The final countdown. All manner of victorious meme songs were playing through Shane's head at this point (Eye of the Tiger, The Final Countdown, you name it). He was going to become one with the handholds! He was gonna DO this!

...However, about halfway up, the handholds didn't want to become one with him, and it began to slide. He held on, but that was nerve-wracking beyond reason. He had to keep going...

[Plus Ascension rerolls... Reroll 1 here! It was a 1, which is a 3, which is a Quote Skye. Welp!]

Could he really keep going? What was with these slidey handholds?!

That was probably the last question he should have been asking, because the handhold fell from his grasp, and he heard it hit something that didn't sound like a floor. "I'm sorry!" he called out as his harness let him glide back to the start of the obstacle. He was kind of hoping that he'd get a look at what he'd hit, to make sure they were all right... if that was a person. Something looked a little off about that dark space, and he wondered if it was the thing in the water that that one guy had mentioned...

OH s**t. Oh god what was that. What the hell, no no no, every single panic button and klaxon in Shane's mind was going off at once. This was bad, this was wrong, no no no no. There was no way in hell he was going down to where that thing probably was. He had to climb up, and fast!

Quote:
Shane chooses UP the wall!

Unfortunately for Shane, he just wasn't fast enough. All that pulling and pushing had tired him out, whether he wanted to admit it or not. Something closed around his ankle, and he was done for. He yelped as he was pulled from the handholds, falling fast. Somehow, he knew this was it. He didn't want to think about what was going to happen next.

It didn't seem that he would have to.

Before even starting on the peg wall you drop one of your pegs. That will leave you out a foot hold and relying entirely on your arm strength. Good luck.

[ To proceed:

Roll 1d6 and subtract one for your disadvantage and continue climbing.]

You glance down as one of the hand-holds falls to the ground-- a mistake, if ever you've made one. The grip drops and hits something on the head; something you've missed up until this point because it was sitting silently in wait, quietly still and mostly invisible save for a vague outline.

Pausing to look wastes just a little bit more time and your hand slides again.

[To proceed:

Roll 1d20.

If you roll 1-17 you are unable to catch yourself before gently gliding back down to the start of this task, thanks to your safety harness. Please quote Skye after responding to your fall.

If you roll 18-20 you manage to catch yourself and you should scramble faster. Roll 1d6 to continue your climb.]

There is a ripple of movement as the scenery shifts behind you. From the shadows where it had gone unnoticed, a youma rises. If it looks anything at all beyond fearsome, it is mildly perturbed. You woke the beast from its slumber, and now it is coming for you.

[To proceed:

Roll 1d20

1-5 - The fear is real. The beast is in front of you and you freeze completely. There is no escape. This is your end. How do you face it?

6-17 - Run. Your options are UP the wall or DOWN the way you came. It's your choice. Quote Skye once you've chosen.

18-20 - You react quickly enough to start the climb again. [Roll 1d6 and climb for your life.]

Sami-Fire
Youma Name: Macsen

Type: Humanoid

Appearance:
Bulky, muscular; a looming, protective presence. Think a wingless gargoyle with feline attributes (Ref). Coat coloration is that of a silver tabby, more black than silver with the occasional teal/blue highlight. A spattering of crystals have grown here and there, creating a look almost like a pauldron in appearance (Ref).

Ability: Vanish Point - While in a resting position/lying still, Macsen is able to render themselves invisible. If they move slowly while invisible it is possible to see their outline or notice the 'distortion' of the background behind them, as though being viewed through a water droplet on a window. Any quick or sudden movement, such as attacking or running, will break the invisibility. Can only be used once per encounter.

Sami-Fire

You choose up and you start climbing. The path is not easy. There are few hand or footholds left clinging to the wall You're having a hard time picking your path up, yet still you climb.

The creature behind you doesn't seem to be phased by the lack of grips, steadily following behind you-- stalking you, as though you're prey (you are). When you slow down to catch a breath you can feel just how close the creature is. There's no time to pause, no time to freeze. You have to keep climbing.

[To proceed:

Roll 1d100

If you roll 95-100 - You've reached the top. Hit the buzzer and quote Skye.

If you roll 80-94 - Although there's not much left to the wall, the beast pursues and the he climb continues. Quote Skye.

If you roll less than 80 - Something closes around your ankle and tugs. Hand? Paw? Whatever it is, you can feel the claws sinking in as it yanks you free from the wall. There is no gentle descent this time. This time you fall. This is the end of your story. If you have any final thoughts or reflections you would like to share, please do so now. ]
