Mei was stunned. She just didn't know what to say. Eirlys had joined their friend group relatively recently, and Calla quite liked her. Now the poor girl was convinced that nobody would ever want to have stones with her because another date had gone sour. The two of them were comforting her as best they could, but this was sadly not an uncommon occurrence. Most of the time Calla knew just the right thing to say but this time it had been out of left field.
In a surprising turn of events, Calla had suggested that the three of them have stones. Now she was in the kitchen, getting a bowl of fresh fruit to replace the ice cream that Eirlys had been shoveling in her mouth when they'd arrived. That left Mei and Eirlys perched on the couch to think over her suggestion, the both of them stunned by the unexpected proposal. Mei wasn't opposed to having children. She just. .hadn't expected to have some with her friends. . .or at this time. She especially hadn't expected her best friend to be the one to suggest it!
But... she wouldn't mind having kids with Eirlys. Between the three of them, their kids were bound to be the most adorable bakeneko to grace this world, and their lives would certainly be more interesting as a result. On the other hand, had Calla really thought this through? Mei had a couple part time jobs: one at a small library and another at a cafe, not to mention uni classes. Calla made all the wares for her personal accessory shop and Eirlys was in uni still alongside doing babysitting.
Individually, she wouldn't have thought any of them could support a child, but maybe the three of them coming together could handle it. Even if they each had a kid instead of just one or two, they should still be able to support them. At least, that was the hope. Now that Calla had suggested it, Mei couldn't think of a better group that they'd want to have them with. If Calla could handle their gender preferences and Eirlys could handle getting stuck with the two of them for parents, then the three of them could handle anything.
"Children are a step. . .a big one, but not one that we couldn't handle together. With the three of us, I'm sure we could overcome any hurdles that a trio of kids could throw our way. It'll be a bit of an ordeal, getting everything set up and settled, but one that would be worth it, I feel." Mei mused their way through their feelings, trying to convince not only themself, but Eirlys too.
"You don't need a mate to have kids with the two of us by your side. You will most certainly be a good mother, I'm sure of it." Filled with determination, they turned to grasp Eirlys' hand, squeezing it softly. "So I agree Eirlys. . . let's have kids together." Kids hadn't been foreseen in their future, but they wouldn't have to face this alone. Their friends would be taking this journey alongside them...Even if it happened to be quite a bit sooner than any of them had expected.
