Agility Modifier: Tight Spaces: +1
Agility Modifier to Bungee Plareau: +1

Poor James, your ankle just said frack you didn't it.))

Well, his ankle stopped throbbing -- for the moment. James finished his water, walking for the Grand Finale as he followed directions carefully, and hummed to himself. A pity he had already covered a few montage songs really-- the man was feeling a cover for them coming on, but the only ones he knew of, he'd covered. Ah well.

James stretched out, and moved fior the tight spaces, immediately throwing himself in and beginning to wiggle. It was probably not the best option, nort easy. The man wiggled and squirmed, working his way through as he climbed through them, mind focusing on the path ahead as he grunted. At least he wasn't a muscle-bound bodybuildfer like some guys, and the youtuber wiggled out the other end in a relatively decent move, moving on to the peg wall.

Once again the man wiggled for the peg wall, grabbing the oegs carefully. This was more of a task to him -- not because he was weak, but the man did wiggle along, climbing along. T'was better to do a moderate pace for the moment, migrating up towards the top, and James hummed. He still needed to edit footage, really. Would he use a capture device from the show? A hype video? How was he going to handle this anyhow? Was this an issue? He had no idea actually.

Itis mind was still distracted when he reached the Bungee Plateau, the man nearly tripping as he began to miugrate across the obstacle. Now he had to refocus -- hard. He was running an obstacle course, but a media group that had freaking cthulhu on it's roster. This alone was Not Idea, and James frowned, trying to focus on the route ahead as he moved. He hAd to press on. He had to prove...

Cookies? Was that a thing? He had no idea.

As he moved, he did become aware of one thing.

His ankle began with an ache in certain positiuons, still furious about being injured on his qualifying run, and as he moved, the offending joint continued to harrangue him. It throbbed, spiked, and grew more and more painful to move on as he climbed, and Jqames... Wondered, really, iuf he should've popped an ibuprofin. The pain in his ankle was getting rather nasty, spiking up his leg and feeling like some beast was biting and ravaging his tendon like a rabid animal, and the man grunted, wincing as he continued moving. He had to make it -- he got this far -- but... But well he wasn't really coming along well, now was he? Sure, he made it, but he was LAST, and this bruised his ego a bit. There wasn't a crowd, at least -- though that was a mercy and curse; nobody got to see him succeed... Or fgaiul.

And right now James didn't want anybody to see him fail, grimacing as he pulled himself along the plateau slowly before looking up.

WEas that. Was that like rock climbing?

s**t.

James internally swore to himself, but didn't delay himself, instead grabbing hold of the first hand grip, and pulled. He had to slow down -- had to focus on each grip, and winced, hoping he didn't see anything begin to go down...

Except his hand missed.

Badly.

James' balance was shoit. His ankle, in the next second, gave in pain, trying, but failing to help support him properly.

Poor old James we knew him well... XD

It wasn't so much that your hand missed as it was the grip was no longer there when you reached for it. Fortunately for you, you hadn't gotten very far up the wall yet. Even more fortunate was the fact that you're wearing a harness, so your fall was less a fall and more of a gentle glide.

The good thing is that there has been no sign that you've run out of time entirely, and if you can find the right hand-holds you might be able to give it another go.

The bad thing?

Out of the corner of your eye you swear you see movement. At first it's just a shadow that shifts, and then you see the outline of something. Are your eyes playing tricks on you?

[ To proceed:

Roll 1d6 to scale the wall again.

OR

If you choose not to scale the wall, please respond to what you see, or think you see, and quote Skye again. ]

Somdething was watching him.

And this in and of itself made James feel uneasy. First the water, now this. So had he upgraded from seeing the shaggoths to seeing the Great Old Ones Lovecraft wrote about?

He shuddered, moving to climb again with a diusconcerted noise.

This was.

This was really not something he wanted to think about, and he moved, trying again, and...

Well, the hand grip wasn't there, earning another dose of profanity. He wanted to climb, noit feec the Old Ones! They were supposed to be dormant in some realm outside of understanding, and for god's sakes, He didn't want to go insane either, son of a bisnitches.

He's a tenacious boy at least.

The youma's attention had been drawn by the gentle fall, interest kept by the movement of the human back towards the wall. The General, Tourmaline, had instructed him to wait, to watch, and yet...

A low growl rumbled from where the youma rested and as it shifted the guise of illusion faded away and it became very real. Macsen rose to its feet, rolling shoulders while straightening out. The youma waited for confirmation from its mistress, peering up to the top of the wall where it must have seen something to confirm that it had been given permission to climb after the contestant.

[ To proceed:

Roll 1d20

1-5 - The fear is real. The beast is behind you, and there's no hand-hold near by. This is where your story ends. How do you face it?

6-17 - Keep climbing. Quote Skye for your next prompt.

18-20 - Fear is a good motivator. It motivates you to climb faster, with a bit more certainty despite your injury... Or maybe the creature is just taking its time. No matter, you've made it to the top. Quote Skye. ]

NovaCracker
Youma Name: Macsen

Type: Humanoid

Appearance:
Bulky, muscular; a looming, protective presence. Think a wingless gargoyle with feline attributes (Ref). Coat coloration is that of a silver tabby, more black than silver with the occasional teal/blue highlight. A spattering of crystals have grown here and there, creating a look almost like a pauldron in appearance (Ref).

Ability: Vanish Point - While in a resting position/lying still, Macsen is able to render themselves invisible. If they move slowly while invisible it is possible to see their outline or notice the 'distortion' of the background behind them, as though being viewed through a water droplet on a window. Any quick or sudden movement, such as attacking or running, will break the invisibility. Can only be used once per encounter.

...There was definately something after him now, and James reached, gravbbing the next handhold he could find, scrabbling to pull himself along. He was definately NOT eager to see what the hellbeast chasing him wanted, or if it felt hungry, but James was going to haul himself up as fast as he could. No sense waiting idly to see if he died -- he didn't want to try. And forget Youtube if he survbived. Nobody was going to stay if tyhey saw this -- they'd say it was a skit. Not something he wanted to be known for either, his ego simply didn't allow it, and the man scrabbled to climb, more focused on trying to live than not. And the entire time, a simple ditty rang in his ******** this s**t, I'm out!

It felt oddly fitting.

There are few hand or footholds left clinging to the wall. You're having a hard time picking your path up, yet still you climb.

The creature behind you doesn't seem to be phased by the lack of grips, steadily following behind you-- stalking you, as though you're prey (you are). When you slow down to catch a breath you can feel just how close the creature is. There's no time to pause, no time to freeze. You have to keep climbing.

[To proceed:

Roll 1d100

If you roll 95-100 - You've reached the top. Hit the buzzer and quote Skye.

If you roll 80-94 - Although there's not much left to the wall, the beast pursues and the he climb continues. Quote Skye.

If you roll less than 80 - Something closes around your ankle and tugs. Hand? Paw? Whatever it is, you can feel the claws sinking in as it yanks you free from the wall. There is no gentle descent this time. This time you fall. This is the end of your story. If you have any final thoughts or reflections you would like to share, please do so now. ]

The hellbeast was after him.

Jamnes continued to scrabble along, trying for anything as he moved. Was he really... Thinking?

Nope, not really, he was-- he was--

The yank interrupted any, and all thoughts James Helios might have had as he fell to the base unceremoniously, ankle throbbing.

It was nothing compared to what was waiting below, by any means, and in the end....

In the end, James Helios was no longer climbing. He wasn't even above.
