The Climb - Tight Spaces

The whole point of this round is to make it to the peak where the grand prize awaits, and it starts with The Climb... More specifically, Tight Spaces. The wall ahead has a crack running up along it and it's your task to slide into the crevice and climb to the top. There's the occasional grip or notch along the way, but for the most part you're going to have to rely on your strength to support you as your shimmy your way to the top.

If your modifier is agility: +1 to your roll.

3 - Midway up you loose your grip and you start to slip. -1 to next roll due to the extra effort it took to haul yourself back up, provided you catch yourself. If you choose to fall, quote Skye.

Somehow he had managed to snake through the last course despite falling into the water and he was going to try his hardest to make sure he didn't fall this time, even if it cost him all his strength. Taking a deep breath he stared at the course before him and gave a small shake of his arms to loosen up the tension from the nerves he was feeling.

Swallowing he took off. Starting off strong he was feeling confident until he slipped, however he was able to catch himself at the last minute. Finishing the section of the course he moved onto the next part.

The Climb - Peg Wall

As if you haven't yet put yourself through enough, now you're going to feel the burn. There are three pegs in the wall ahead of you (five, for a tandem run). The pegs appear to be the right size to fit in the holes lined up along the wall. Your goal in this part of the climb is to move the pegs one at a time until you've reached the next level.

3 - You've lost one of your pegs. There is no getting it back, so now you're relying on arm strength alone. - 1 to your next roll to compensate for tired arms. If you choose to fall with it, quote Skye.

Oh gosh, there were pegs in the wall, he knew what this was going to do for his arms after that last run. Doing his best he moved along slowly but ended up losing one of the pegs. <********, You can do this Tris. Just hang in there..... Literally.' Trying to self encourage himself he did his best to continue through the course. Muscles screaming he forced himself to swing himself and leap the last little bit to the other side.

Bungee Plateau

Take a moment to catch you breath. Got it? Good. There's no climb here, which might be a relief for some, but the reality of it is that things are just now starting to get dangerous. There are two platforms suspended between four bungee cables apiece. It's a four foot jump between each platform and the base and none of this really seems safe. The platforms, about five feet long and three wide, spring and sway the moment any weight at all is added to them and if you're not careful you'll be bucked off to whatever waits below.

If your modifier is agility: +1 to your roll as you've got a little better balance. Since I have a -1 from last roll just roll is what it is.

4 - You hit the second platform too hard and it bucks like a bronco trying to toss you hard. Somehow you hold on. (Unless you don't want to, in which case quote Skye.)

His arms were basically dead at this point and he was honestly THANKFUL that he wasn't really going to have to use his arms for this particular part of the course. Quickly looking it over he realized it wasn't an easy task at all. Leaping upon the first base he realized that it wasn't the most stable of things and he leaped onto the other one quickly and it shook a great deal and almost threw him off. Continuing to hold on he clung to it as tightly as he could until he was able to leap to the other side.

gonna use my re-roll because WHY NOT. DONT FAIL ME TRISTAN :sob:

The Climb - Ascension

Your legs are wobbling, but you finally have them under you again. Now it's time to strap on your harness (for safety) and race against the clock towards the Ascension. Fifteen feet wide and fifty feet high, this wall is littered with hand and foot holds of various shapes and sizes. It is your task to climb to the top. What's the catch, you ask? At various intervals the holds will begin to fall from the wall. Can you reach Zenith before it's too late?

If your modifier is agility: Good luck! You're going to need it.

6 - You've made it to the top! Hit the buzzer at the end and quote Skye.

So this last part required him to strap into a harness, even though the rest of the course hadn't required such things. FUNNY how that was, where was a harness for the last course. Oh well, no use to dwell on it now. After he was secured he dashed for the wall and began his climb, with renewed energy and hope he scaled the wall quickly and effortlessly, as if he hadn't even been tired before. Making it to the top he raced over to the buzzer and hit it with a confident smile upon his face, mostly out of relief. He had done it, he had just made it through the course and was able to finish strong and he was extremely proud of himself in this moment.

"Tristan, for a moment there I didn't think you had it in you." The voice drifted from the shadows, followed soon by the form of a young woman stepping out into the light. While she had sent Cornetite to fetch him from the water earlier, Tourmaline had been watching from the start. Tristan had taken an early lead in the qualifying round and it had been enough to pique her interest that he hadn't fallen prey to the beast in the water.

"It takes a lot to surprise me, but here you are. You've challenged yourself in making it this far... Are you ready to challenge your destiny?"

To say he wasn't surprised as she stepped from the shadows would have been a lie, for he had been so wrapped up in just getting through the course and getting to the finish line he'd neglected to see if anyone had been spectating. It would seem as though someone had. Looking at her for a moment he ran a hand through his black hair and gave a small nod of his head. "For a moment I didn't think I did either." It was 'nice' to know that other's were right there with him on that. He was just pleased to know he had made it through the best he could.

As she continued to speak he couldn't help but wonder if he had been that impressive? Was there a way to re-watch the events? If so he would like to see how he did from a birds eye view so to speak. Removing his hand from his hair he reached out the opposite one to her in an action to shake on it. "I am more than ready, and the challenge is half the fun."

It was true, there was no excitement in none risk situations, he liked to live on the edge a bit.

"The challenge is half the fun. It's why we made the arrangements for this event; why we put forth our best in an attempt to find the best. What you were competing for today wasn't just the right to be called one of the Zenith Champions. You were competing for a chance to become something, someone, more." She took his hand as it was offered, giving it a squeeze and a firm shake.

"There is an organization in Destiny City called the Negaverse and I think you have she special spark that's needed to be a part of it. If I'm right it will open up so many opportunities for you, Tristan. Your determination will open up even more. All I need is one last moment of your time." Her eyes lingered on his face, watching him for whatever reactions he might have to her words. She intended to make an attempt at corrupting him either way, but it would take so much less energy to do so if he was willing.

It seemed she shared much of the same views as he had about the games. Though He would have to find out later what had been in the water, that was most curious to him and also slightly alarming. They'd done such a wonderful job at making everything seem life threatening, props had to be given.

"Well that's exciting to hear, just tell me what I need to do. I'm all yours." He said as he released her hand from the shake. Though he was unfamiliar with the organization in which she was speaking but was willing to learn more about it.

"I was hoping that you would say that." General Tourmaline kept her hold on his hand firm, her eyes meeting his as she used her grip to yank him towards her. Her other hand came up, resting on his chest briefly before pushing into it, reaching for something. When she found it she wrapped her fingers around it, recognizing the thrum of something more, something just waiting to be awakened.

Tourmaline channeled the Chaos through her fingers gently, feeding the negative energy into his starseed slowly so as to not overdo it. She used the power she had to turn what might have been a fine, upstanding page into a Negaverse officer, attempting to be as gentle as she possibly could while knowing that there was no way to escape the pain she was forcing on him. If she'd done it wrong it would be excruciating, but she'd practiced a time or two since the first.

When she was finished she drew her hand back, swaying slightly on her feet before steadying herself. A satisfied smirk lingered on her lips, a bit of pride blooming where she should have been feeling some form of exhaustion. She appreciated the cut of his jacket, the touch of formality in the tie and the pop of bright color that seemed almost like it was starting to become a thing for Lieutenants that she chose to keep for herself.
