What is known is that she was in a lab for many years as an experiment so that people understood how these people with abilities got their abilities. Rin does not remember her life before the lab, all she remembers is the pain she went through day after day as doctors and scientists did test on her and put her through trials to see if they could alter her DNA. One night there was an explosion at the lab, allowing Rin to escape from her cell and the Hell Hound killed every person in that lab who stood in her way. After escaping from the lab, Rin was on her own in the world. Scared, not knowing who she was and not only knowing the pain from the people in the lab she stayed in abandoned buildings and stealing what she needed to survive.
