[The world is changing and you don't want to miss it! We wanted to provide you with some additional prompts to help inspire your reactions to what is happening in the world. By no means do you need to respond to the prompts below, but we hope for those looking for some 'solo fuel' or RP settings can use these to your advantage.]
The rains were endless, the sound drowning out the normal peaceful noises of your homeland. You haven't seen any of the land-dwelling fauna in months, and have been all but forced to stay below the surface of the water to not be swept away in the storm. Thankfully, you were made to live and breathe below the surface, but you missed the view of the land. It was all but depressing for most of those around you, and very few found the rain exciting. Since it seems like it is never going to let up, it's about time you ventured out at last. What do you do? Do you try and find some food, or maybe hunt down one of your friends? Do you find yourself in danger, or maybe in a place you never had access to before? Take some time to explore, but be careful because the rains have caused strong floods and even stronger waters, meaning traveling even a few hundred feet away could spell danger.

Pello was bored, beyond bored in fact. The storm that had rolled off the coast had caused the normally sun-loving people to be submerged at all times. The surface of the waters were angry, thrashing about anyone who attempted to go above, and the tides were stronger than they had ever been before (at least to his knowledge in his short life). It was agonizing to the young boy, who loved to travel about and lounge in the sun, and for once his smile seemed to be as subdued as the light that managed to light his coral home.
"Mah," He shouted off through the waters, a quick sharp call that got his mother turning from where she focused on her arts, "I'm gonna go see Mahnny!"
It was a break in the storm, and it seemed to calm down to a rough drizzle. His mother looked up at the arching waves above them, pondering a moment before turning back toward her son.
"Keep below the rip tides, then," She said shortly, and he let out a whoop as he darted away before she could change her mind, his cheeks dimpling as he couldn't wait to find his childhood friend.

With the storm finally easing off, Kaikamahine was looking forward to getting a bit of sun. She didn't mind too much staying in, she kept more than busy enough crafting accessories or styling her hair into a new look.
She was currently gazing outside at the moment, hair split into two perfect buns on each side of her head. The rough waters had brought all sorts of treasures to her doorstep and Kai was looking forward to getting her hands on them.
"I'm going out front to collect a few things," she called out to her parents.
"Don't stray or we'll send out one of your brothers to fetch you."
Kai rolled her eyes and swam out of their home, pausing briefly as she spotted a familiar face.
"Pello?!" She called out to him, waving her hand wildly in the water before she swam up to meet him.

Pello swam strong down the path he remembered, not bothered by the shift in the sand and slight changes. He kept an eye out for the new rip currents, understanding that with each storm meant a new message from mother ocean on being aware of her power. He was raised since he could swim to respect the shifting of the sea, so it was second nature for him to see the signs and avoid things.
As he got closer to Kaikamahine's home, he was surprised to hear his voice called out, and he looked up to grin brightly at his friend, "Mahnny!" He called back, waving and darting over to skid (in the water it was more of a tumble) to her side, "I haven't seen you in for-ev-her!"

"I know, mom wouldn't let me out because ofnthe storms." Kai give him a large smile. "I guess your mom didn't let you out either huh?"
Kai drifted around him once. "Sooo happy to be out of the house. I was running out of supplies!" She gave one quick glance around them, plenty of debris had settled around her home and she couldn't wait to shift through it and see what kind of treasures she could find.
"So now that we've got our freedom back! What do you want to do first?,

He shook his head, grumbling about how he was forced to hide away in the shadows and just how much, so so much, he missed the sunlight. With the drizzle happening, he was happy to see the muted grey that in the past he was so angry about. Now that it seemed like sunlight, he couldn't thank the goddess enough. It was finally calm enough to get out and see the world and how much it had changed.
"I dunno. I'm just so excited I'm not sure where to go from here. We could go to the shallows and see what washed up, or try and scope out the sand bars and see if the tides have changed. Or we could see what happened deeper near the sea?"
All of the options sounded interesting, so he turned his bright eyes to his friend and grinned so his cheeks dimpled, "You decide!"

Kai listened briefly to what her friend had to say as a amile slowly grew on her lips. They'd been inside for so long, why should they limite themselves to doing just one thing?
"We should do ALL THE THINGS!" She yelles out, jerking her hands up in the air. She had way too much energy to spare at the moment.
"Let's start with the shallows! I want to see what kind of things I can collect! Let me go get a bag." And before he could answer, she was already swimming full speed back into her home and searching for a bag. Once she found it, she almost ripped it ofd the hook before swimming back off.
"Alright let's go!" She hasn't even reached him yet but she was pointing towards the Shallows.

He darted back a bit in the water before folding over slightly and laughing. He knew he could depend on his friend to bring the energy, they both were reef kids afterall. After he got over the humor of her excitement, he looked up with a big grin and nodded vigorously, "I agree!" He responded with a laugh, letting her lead the way as she went off to get her bag.
While she was gone, he thought back to the last few months and how dreary it was. He had never been in the water so long, away from the bright sun. He vibrated with excitement to see more of the changes in the lands around them.
"Alright, alright!" He responded, before darting off in a playful way to encourage her to chase. It was easy to swim about the coral, this type of path he was familiar with having done it so many times before with her at his side. They were childhood friends, after all. As he made way to the shallows, he slowed a bit, taking the time to look at everything, "Wow, the rains made so much change..."

Kaikamahine swam right after him while laughing until she reached him again. You could tell both of them hadn't spent much time outside, the sun was energizing them. Once they had reached the shallows though, Kai barely stopped as he had. Instead, she was swimming from one spot to another, inspecting the debris left behind. Sometimes she moved and lifted things to look under them. "They have, can you imagine what kind of amazing things were going to find?"
"Come on!" She waved at him to join her. They had so much to cover that she didn't want to skip a single beat. Then she spotted something shiny under a large leaf and grabbed it up right away. It was a blueish stone with veins of white through it.
"Look Pello!" Kai held out the stone towards him between two fingers, these would make nice things to attach to the end of hair or even make jewellery out of. "If you find more tell me!" Kai bagged the precious stone and went right back to her rummaging.

He pushed himself to race after her as she called, laughing a bit as she darted from space to space like a curious fish. She was so energetic, even moreso than him. It was hard to believe. As he got closer, he brushed his hands through the grasses of the sea, letting the little fish dart through his fingers and smiling as they seemed to still thrive even after the rains. He didn't notice her grab something shiny, but he did hear her voice and turned her way. Narrowing his eyes he tried to see what she held out, but had to float closer to her to really get a look at the stone.
"I've never seen that before...do you think it came from the river?"
They were close to one of the new freshwater sources, afterall, so maybe it came through. As she asked him to look for more, he nodded eagerly and began to drift around, looking for the blue and white stone, "Where did you find it, in the sand?"

"Maybe?" Kai turned the stone over towards her again, examining it with a titled head ans a curious gaze. "Well, if it is maybe I'll have to figure out where it's from and go there for more one day!"
That was when she was older and didn't have her mother breathing down her back since she was the only daughter in the family. Kai internally rolled her eyes at the thought and quickly pocked the item safely into her bag.
"Yes in the sand here." Kai got down closer and ran her hand over it. There was debris all over the place and she could feel the pieces of wood and shattered shell under her hand.
"Find anything else that's good?"

Pello dug through the sands as she looked at the rock again, trying to find something that was similar. He pulled out a shell. Blue, but not as pretty as the one she had in her hand. Humming in disappointment, he turned to look back at her and shook his head, "Just a shell, pretty normal I think..."
Swimming over to where she pointed out, he sunk his fingers in and slowly tried to avoid the wood and broken shells. Maybe he could find it here. With his other hand, he held it up for her to look at if she wished.
"What do you want to do with it?" Maybe she wanted to crush it up and make a powder, or maybe she wanted to make a necklace. Both would probably look pretty in the end, and if he could help her find more and use, he would be happy to do so. It was better than sitting at home begging for the rains to go away.

"Ah still keep it!" Whatever he found she would find use for it one way or another.
Kai continued to swim slowly about, picking things up and throwing them out of her way when it was just useless debris. When she did find something she wanted to keep it went right into her little bag.
When Kai found something red she quickly grabbed it and swam right up to Pello.
"Look! Look! It's the same color as you!"

He dug around and threw out the ones he didn't care much about. They werent' as pretty as the stone. Suddenly, she called out and he turned, just in time to see her thrust the red item and put it in his face. Laughing, he took it from her and held it up. It was similar to the stone she found, and he grinned, "Maybe this one is meant for me like yours is meant to you. Friendship stones!"
As he held it up to look at it in the sun, he realized it was getting darker than he expected, "Oh no, I think I need to go home. Mom'll kill me if I stay out late the first day I'm allowed out...and I want to come see you again! Here, let's switch stones..."
He held his out, "This way, we can make it something wareable and always remember each other when we travel!" He wanted to make sure he remembered her if he went far away, and this seemed like the best idea. He could make a bracelet or something.

"Okay!" Kai rummaged through her bag before pulling out the stone and extending it towards him. "Better not lose it!"
She was going to make a really nice necklace with the red stone.
"Mom will probably want to kill me too," Kai sighed and rolled her eyes. "I'll see you later!" And with that she quickly fussed with his hair a little bit, hair was her obssesson after all.
Once she was satisfied she gave him a small wave and was swimming off. She couldn't wait to get home and start making things.
