The sense of a weakish Chaos aura had lured Xibalba away from his usual patrol routes. Though, really, weak might have been the wrong word for it. It felt about on par with some of the other agents that Xibalba had tangled with before.

Someone on roughly equal footing with him.

Whatever. He wanted to see who this was and how much of a threat they might be. Therefore, he was out patrolling when he really would have rather been home curled up with his lady.

Crocoite was finding it very easy to make 'friends' in this city. Every senshi he ran into wanted a fight, and even the stronger ones were becoming less and less scary to him. Which was weird, as he often got his butt handed to him by picking fights he could not win. There was always method to his madness, though.

That seed of doubt. If he could plant that, Chaos could do its work. Sometimes words were far more dangerous than, say, a cane topped with a metal crocodile head.

Though, swinging that and letting it do the talking was sometimes a lot more fun. So it evened out.

Knights were a different story. He did not have a lot of experience with them, and what he did usually ended with a very powerful one showing up and chasing him off. He thought they were a better match, at least for a fight, because they did not usually have the same kind of annoying magic senshi did. Of course, his experience with that was also limited.

He paused when he felt an aura coming toward him, scoffing and shoving the now unconscious civilian he was draining away from him and holding the orb of energy in his hand.

Slowing his approach, Xibalba peered out of the darkness in time to see what could only be an officer shoving away some rando and holding up a glowing orb.

For all the page knew, the orb was some sort of freaky magic bomb. He couldn't really remember any of the others he'd encountered holding such a thing. But whatever it was, this dude couldn't be allowed to hurt any civilians. Stepping out into the dim light, the burly knight cracked his knuckles casually before crossing his arms over his chest and watching the officer through narrowed eyes. This one wasn't trying to skate by on child-like whimsy or talking like a Bond villain in the making. This one seemed like he might actually be a challenge. Xibalba grinned and moved forward, ready to fight.

About damn time.

Oh.

Crocoite looked the knight over, frowning in disapproval. This now looked brutish, and not like the small, but brave and usually loud, teenage girls he was used to running into. He was really beginning to think the white moon had some very specific recruiting 'guidelines', but now it seemed like knights were the exceptions.

That royal knight at the library was not the toughest looking guy, but he had the power to protect him. This guy, on the other hand, looked like he could easily knock Crocoite's head off, but had about the same power level as him. It would be an interesting match.

"Hello, there," he said, with a wicked grin spreading across is face. He leaned on his cane, tilting his head to the side. "Not much for talking, are you? That's just fine. I need to let off some steam, as well."

He opted for the first move, charging forward and bringing his cane back like a bat, swinging the crocodile head at the knight as hard as he could.

"Not much need for talkin'. Ah reckon we'd disagree on th'salient points, ye ken?"

While it was something of a relief to be dealing with an opponent who acted like a damned adult, Xibalba nevertheless saw that he'd have to be careful here. That cane looked like it would hurt if it connected. Though.. if this guy used it more like a bat, then this would be fun.

Even before the thought could finish, his theory was proven correct and Xibalba nearly laughed out loud in glee. It was a pity that all of his swords were at home, but he didn't need a sword to know how to move.

Or to brace himself with his open hands protecting his body. If he could just catch the cane for a moment.

"Your form is terrible, by th' way."

"I can see why you would want to keep that insufferable mouth of yours shut," Crocoite scoffed, smashing his cane into the other's arms as he held up his guard.

His form was WHAT?

"And your speech is incorrigible! At least one of us can eventually improve," he made to pull his cane back again, though he was a little off balance from the attack. In truth, he was still pretty new to fighting, and used brute force to his advantage when just being scary and threatening did not work.

That was clearly not going to work here. In fact, neither was brute force, if this guy actually knew how to hold his own in a real fight. Crocoite was a business man, not a brawler!

"An' why would Ah want tae lose mah accent?" he countered, hands gripping the cane before suddenly letting go and shaking his arms out. "As for insufferable, laddie, have ye nae listened t'yourself lately?"

Grinning easily, he took advantage of the officer being off balance and surged forward, fists moving to strike at whatever body part they could hit. By his own reckoning, they were probably fairly matched since the officer had a weapon and Xibalba had sheer strength and ability.

For once, he felt like he was in a fight worth his time and effort. He wasn't being flash-frozen or pouted and pontificated at. It was just pure physicality. And it was fun.

Crocoite grunted as he was hit, losing track of his cane and letting it clatter to the floor. It was easy enough to banish it, though, so he did not end up giving his opponent a weapon. Not that this guy needed it.

He hit very hard.

"I'm sorry, I don't speak whatever it is that is spewing out of your mouth right now," Crocoite snarled, righting himself with a wince. The punch had gotten him in the midsection, leaving him winded and very, very annoyed. He called his cane to his hand again, holding it near the middle of the stick. "I've no idea what you're saying."

He charged again, wishing he had his General's teleporting skills, but instead having to just make due with ducking suddenly and jabbing his cane upwards at Xibalba's gut, like a spear.

Laughing in sheer delight, the burly page didn't even care that this wee twit had clearly formed an opinion that Xibalba wasn't terribly bright. That was fine, really. Let the guy underestimate him. Hell, let him overestimate. Neither option did Xibalba one whit of harm.

Still, he'd have to be careful. It'd be a hell of a thing to get himself killed by an idiot. When the officer came running and then ducked suddenly, Xibalba spun to the side and managed to take the blow in his hip rather than his gut. He wasn't sure if the spin was broken or not, but at the moment it hardly mattered.

Roaring in pain and fury, he dove for the officer, fully intending to seize him and shake him until his teeth ******** rattled. Or maybe tossing him like a caber.

Really, either worked just fine.

Crocoite was struck by two sudden and very different rushes of adrenaline and emotion in one short moment. He was excited, thrilled, to have landed a good hit on the annoying Page, but quickly realized it only served to make his enemy fight harder. What was excitement gave way to regret in almost the same moment.

"This is no time for hugs," he snarled, as the knight seized him and hauled him off his, admittedly much smaller, feet. Robert was not the tallest civilian around and, unfortunately, he was not granted the luxury of height when he powered up, either. He supposed magic could only go so far.

Maybe that was why he was given a weapon with range.

Unable to swing his cane at the moment, though, due to Xibalba's grip, he instead opted to kick with all his might at whatever part of the walking muscle's body he could reach. He grabbed on to the knight's arm in a ditch effort to save himself, his cowardly streak flaring to life the more it settled on him that this was not a fight he could win.

At least not without cheating.

He focused on pulling energy from the other man with the contact, hoping to weaken and slow his target enough to get free.

For the happiest of moments, Xibalba carried out his silent wish to shake the officer enough to make him rattle. Then, reality intruded in the form of kicks that just barely missed some of the more sensitive bits of his anatomy. And then, an odd, creeping sensation of weakness.

He brushed aside the feeling of weakness as nothing more than simply being tired combined with fighting this wee twit. The kicking, however, was a problem. And one very easily sorted with the simple expedient of heaving the officer away from him.

"Yer nae caber, but ye'll do," he chortled as he threw the officer before taking a moment to breathe and stretch. And to briefly examine his hip. He couldn't see any blood, so the cane hadn't broken skin, but oh, it hurt. Without a doubt, there was a bad bruise brewing. It was time to end this little spat.

"Wha?"

Crocoite had no idea what the knight was talking about until he was thrown, then he figured things out. He clattered to the ground not too far away, cane skidding away from him. He kept a grip on the ball of energy, as little as it was, that he'd managed to collect but it offered no reassurance. It was not enough to do much of anything to the big guy.

He got to his feet slowly, brushing his uniform off a bit as he did so. He would need more than a light dusting to get the dirt off of it at this point, but it was more for pride than anything else. He took a breath, watching the other man carefully for a moment before moving to recover his cane.

One big swing was all he had left in him, and he was going to take it. He was angry and embarrassed, and he wanted to do some damage. He charged at the knight again with a yell, leaping and smashing his cane down at the large target like a club this time. At least the weapon was versatile.

Too slow. He was too damn slow. Howling in mingled pain and rage as the cane came crashing down on the arm he'd raised to protect his head. He heard and felt a sickening crunch and for a moment, saw stars bursting.

Without waiting for his vision to clear, he brought his leg up and kicked out blindly, hoping to connect and injure the officer just enough to keep him from following when Xibalba ran. While he could power through all the bumps and bruises in the world, a broken arm was nothing he could ignore. And unless he wanted to end up battered to a pulp, or worse, he had to get out...

Now!

Crocoite was almost stunned that he managed to deal some damage, hearing the crunch of bone against his staff and letting out a laugh of triumph. His cane, unfortunately, snapped with the power behind the hit and the crocodile head was sent flying off, leaving Crocoite with a less than threatening half of a stick in his hand.

Still, he managed to get the advantage in the fight for a moment, and he was eager to capitalize-

and then he was kicked soundly in the stomach and sent stumbling backwards, trying to double over and protect himself and right himself at the same time, which did not work at all. He fell over and struggled to fill his forcibly emptied lungs.

By the time he looked up, the knight was already on the run, and he was in no real state to give chase. He growled, not feeling entirely like he had won that fight, but at least knowing that he had a new face to look out for when he had more power.
