“Run! Can’t you feel it! RUN!” “Wait!” She tried to follow the strange speaking cat. She called it Dinah in her mind, recalling its color and white rabbits and the weirdness of the pen clutched hard in her hand. The truth was as simple as rabbit holes and wooden fences- she was simply too big to fit through the hole the feline shot through. It was into some yard and alley beyond, which she could watch for a handful of breaths. If I back up, arms up to narrow my shoulders down? Yes, I think so. Yes, like an inchworm on elbows, butt, elbows, butt- What was it so afraid of? There were no sounds of dogs, or sudden machinery. There was nothing about that should be giving scare to a cat. Even a talking cat. And did it mean for her to keep the pen it had stood up off of? Saorise pulled herself through the hole in the fence in another shake, stood, and carefully brushed off her shorts and blouse. There was no further sign of the cat that had been talking to her a moment ago, so she clutched the strange pen thing it had given her close before stuffing it into her pocket. The yard was quiet, empty, manicured in a basic style that felt cookie cutter. There weren’t lights on through the windows. The whole aspect spoke of a house for sale, uninhabited, there was probably some realty sign on the other side of it next to the street. Nothing to run from? What’s that? There was foreign sound, movement, that wasn’t her own.

Unless the general was very much mistaken that had not been any ordinary cat she'd seen interacting with a very petite young lady in sensible shorts and modest blouse. She'd only caught the faintest glimpse before the pair had darted, but the cat had turned tail first, and she would have sworn she'd heard a second, less timid voice along with the first. She could have been wrong--making logic leaps from fragments--but it hurt nothing to check on her suspicions. Pursuit wasn't exactly a tricky thing, but the pair had scampered down narrow alleys that butted up against the back of some quiet little inner city neighborhood. Small, brickwork houses with fenced in yards. A blink, and Xenotime looked down on the girl from the neighbor's shed. The cat was nowhere to be seen. "My dear, you look lost." She kept her voice soft and inviting as she strode to the edge of the slanting roof and hopped down to the patchy grass near the corner of the fence. "And frightened. Are you alright?" There was a henshin pen clutched in small, pale fingers. Either she simply hadn't had recited the words needed to awaken her magic, Or she hadn't yet been told them. Perhaps Xenotime's presence had frightened the cat before she'd managed to instruct the fledgling senshi. Had she even been told her name?

The clothing and makeup was outlandish in the way that happened at conventions for games and comic books, and the person wearing it at least acted out a personality to match. Confident step, curious eye, and the use of a pet address too casual to intimate anything other than self-proclaimed danger. Jumping down was VERY strange. Whatever business was there up on that shed? That IS a height. Hope the knees are alright. “I don’t really know I’m sure, “ Saorise patted the fabric over her hips absently, looking away at the house and yard again. It took a long sigh before she focused on the strange general’s mouth, rather than eyes. “Did you see that cat from up there? Which way it went? I’m sure it spoke to me. But that’s ridiculous?” “ It seemed very frightened. Really catching, and trespassing doesn’t help. I don’t think anyone lives in this house. But it’s still private property, probably. Realtors... “ She trailed off, uncertain how to gauge the other. The Outlandish One seemed of some age older, which gave a kind of authority. But a stranger, and after talking cats, was as much likely to be of Tam Lin’s old Court in tales. “Why were you on that roof? Do you live near here? Well...I mean, if you think I won't be catching that cat, if you didn't see which way it went. To find out what that was all about. ”

Silver eyes flicked in the direction the cat had run off in at the mention of her. "A glimpse of it, yes, but I'm not sure where it ran off to." She clicked her tongue in disapproval, as if the cat's behavior had been the height of rudeness. It had her shaking her head, lips twisting at the corners as she drew in a long breath and let it out again. "I can't imagine what might have spooked it, but I don't think it's coming back." She down at the girl again, brows arching as she smiled. "I don't think it's ridiculous, though. I run into talking cats pretty often. Usually you can't get them to shut up." The smile grew into a jovial grin. "I was up there looking for the thing that had had sent the pair of you running scared. Trying to help, but I didn't see anything, and I don't feel anything now." She rolled her shoulders in a small shrug, arms folding loosely. "You're safe now, so don't worry." Head tilting gently to one side, eyes sparkling slightly in the moonlight, Xenotime leaned forward in obvious interest. "What did the cat say, by chance?"

There was something being played at in simultaneously being ‘unable to imagine’ what spooked the cat, and then also ‘looking for the thing’ that had spooked the strange best into running and Saorise into having to try to chase it to try to figure out what was going on. She mentally marked the argument in her mind, but wasn’t sure what to do about it. It was another marker in the Stranger Danger column of this particular grown-up. But the smile was wide and the comments about cats and talking seemed really genuine. So casual to be usual….“You really know some talking cats?” The teen pulled out the weird pen. “It said it needed to talk to me about something important. So I stopped, I mean, who wouldn’t with something that strange. It made this appear, but that is when it got all puffy and scared. It didn’t finish any more than that. It looks like a pen, but I don’t have paper on me to try to write with it. Do you know where another talking cat is? Could you bring one here? “ “ I …..don’t think I should go somewhere with a stranger. I don’t even know your name. ”

Xenotime nodded with a bright, affirming hum. "I do. I know a few, actually." Well, not so much personally, but she could easily contact any number of active chaotic guardians. It was enough truth to serve. She glanced down at the pen and silver eyes lite up almost hungrily before she quashed the eagerness to shove it back behind the veneer of a friendly smile. "That's a henshin pen," she pointed out knowledgeably, tapping the side of the thing with the tip of a painted nail. "The cat, she was going to tell you that you aren't just any ordinary young lady, but something more. Something incredibly special." As she spoke she summoned the pen that opened into her tablet and tapped at the screen a few times. "It had a star on it's forehead, right?" The general glanced up from the screen, tablet lowering. "And how silly of me. I'm Xenotime." She extended a small hand in greeting. At that precise moment a very small, white kitten with a black star on it's forehead and a studded collar appeared on the general's shoulders, tail flicking idly. "And this is Reven," Xenotime added with a soft chuckle.

But...then...what is a ‘henshin’ pen? I’ve never heard of it. She liked to think she knew of a lot of different kinds of pen, since all things writing and written on was part and parcel to her ephemera collection. Being able to authenticate, or pretend to authenticate, different handwriting styles, inks and papers meant needing to know how different quills and pens tended to write. Saorise gnawed her lip thoughtfully when the woman pulled out a very strange looking pen of her own, which then turned out out to be some sort of smart device. Military? Secret Police? Weird Corporate research? Better shake, not doing wouldbe rude, right? What sort of a name is that? A codename? Instead of shaking the offered hand, though, the teen fell backwards before ever making contact as a cat appeared from nothing. Right there. Looking alive. “CRACKERS-” "W-where...? How?"

"Oh whoops, sorry about the shock." Stepping forward, Xe offered hands down to draw the teen back to her feet. "You'll get used to it. It's a very convenient form of transportation." She grinned, and if the young woman hadn't reached up by that point Xenotime would stoop down to catch up small hands so she could draw her up. Reven took the opportunity to hop down, circling around the girls legs. "You'll be able to do it too, when you get stronger." She could feel the potential, the name resting heavy at the back of her mind like a lead weight. It was exciting, and Reven regretted having wasted so much time not down what she was here for, what she was born to do. The cat looked up at Xe, tail twitching. "Do you want her name now?"

She would? Get used to and be able to appear and disappear? That sounds a little ominous. Is she gonna try to kidnap me? I’m a little old for that, aren’t I? Or ...like that Liam Neeson movie? That’s really dark...But how or why a cat that talks? The small, furry body brushed suspicions into stranger and stranger corners. There’s no reason for a person to ventriloquist two cats in one night. Or bring them out of nowhere. There’s no mirrors here. No slight of hand. I’m sure of it. She’d have to be good as Penn and Teller themselves. Is it safer to keep talking, or to try to get away? This is all very strange. It doesn't even feel real. But...I know I'm awake. Saorise took the offered hand up carefully, but only so long as to fish the pen out of her pocket and offer it down to the cat. Interacting with it couldn’t be scripted, or trained, right? “Did you know what this is? Or make things like this? Could you take it back to that other cat? I don’t know what to do with it- it seems really strange to keep it without it being a gift or buying it. ...Reven?”

Xenotime looked from the teen to the guardian at the question. "In due time." She wanted to know her civilian name first, and with as wary as she seemed the general was keen to answer whatever questions she had. With a flick of her ear up at the fighter Reven looked back up at the girl and the pen in her hands she was holding out for her. "That's a henshin pen, it..."She frowned, lips twisting to the side as she considered how to answer that while not entirely understanding herself why the magic worked the way it did. "It's yours, whatever cat made it, it was made for you. There is no giving it back, but you wouldn't want to anyways." Lifting a paw, she poked the pen handle. "You've got magic in you, and you need this to bring it out." Her head tipped back to look up at the general for confirmation. Xenotime nodded before sinking down into a crouch behind the cat, hood falling back as she lifted her head. "What's your name?"

Oh wouldn’t I? Saorise smiled, aback and amused in equal measure at the small cat’s declaration. “We just met; I don’t think I could say what kind of kibble you like, little kitty. “ “Saorise. “ That was safe enough, wasn’t it? Crouching, the lady wasn’t quite as daunting. She’s being nice enough. She’s trying to help, even if it’s weird. Crazy weird. “I like magic shows and ghost shows and stuff, but….there’s no real proof anything like that exists. It’s fun to look for. Is it ventriloquism? Can you drink and still make them talk? Are you from a cat circus? There’s that really fancy Russian one. Is Xenotime your stage name?“ “Is this viral marketing? Does the pen open and reveal some sort of flyer?” It was turned over experimentally, but only halfheartedly. Her attention really centered on the little cat and the General.

"I prefer candy to kibble, actually," Reven countered, weaving around one of Xenotime's legs before stepping forward to sit between her and the budding senshi. The general herself was all gentle smiles as the young lady introduced herself. "Saorise, that's a pretty name." Unique, like the girl standing before her. Like every senshi they could draw into the dark light of chaos. Their magic held value, and every fuku clad soldier they brought to their side was one less that stood with order. Xe was glad she'd caught up to this one before the cat had been able to do much else but produce the pen. Reven's ears docked at the inclination that someone other than herself was speaking, but before she could say anything about it the general was smoothing a calming hand down the kitten's back. "You like magic?" That was good. "It's more real than you think, you know." Holding her an arm out, she called her weapon on that side. Plates of metal formed over her shoulder, along the length of her arm down to her hand. "You've got your own magic hiding inside you just waiting to be called out." And now she looked down at the kitten, nodding gently. Reven slipped out from beneath pale fingers. "Repeat after me," she said to the girl. "Vanth Power Make-up."

“But kitty kidneys are so delicate! Too much sugar can’t be good and what about diabetes?” Oh! Oh-” It was very like movies and video game clips that were advertised here and there on Gram’s TV. The metal just appeared, like it was animated by some specialist CG artist. Xenotime was a shadow, armed and laid bare beneath the streetlamps and studs of stars. The small cat spoke further. What a thing to dare. Is it that simple? Just say something like that? What is a Vanth, that it is so special to call on it and it will give me magic? What has to be paid? Count Magnus and the devil and all that require payment. There’s no fiddle of gold here, and I’m no kind of musician. But would it really work? Well, there’s no worry in feeling more foolish than I already do out in the dark crawling under fences and in backyards where I probably shouldn’t be. The teen nodded affirmative more to herself than answering external choices. The pen sparkled in her hand. “Vanth Power Make-up.”It felt like the sun itself welled up out of her breastbone, out along where her ribs should be, her arms, wrapped tight and whole and new the limbs that she’d commanded her whole short life. She felt soft as snow, and opening eyes she found somehow closed, she wasn’t dressed the way she’d been a moment before. And Xenotime felt darker still-— all the shades of worry deep that long gone other cat had seemed to cry out warning about. Vanth’s eyes squinted, “Oh goodness...I think I do feel something strange. But you’re right! It did work...something. What ridiculous shoes! But look at the sleevies! You’re really right, kitty! ‘Reven’, I should say. That’s what she said. “But what else..? Putting clothes on and off is amazing, but there’s more to it, right? Where do I learn about this? Or from whom?”

The general had gotten to her feet, taken a step back, to give Saorise a little more room for her transfermation, and after a best, as the light blossomed at the young girls breast, Reven fell back as well to join her. Sitting on the ground between Xenotime's boot clad feet with her tail curled over her toes. Both agent and cat watching on with wide, eager eyes as the girl before them awakened into a fledgling senshi. "Beautiful," Xenotime breathed as she stepped forward again, reaching out to take small hands gently in her own so she couldlift Canth's arms, get a good look at what she'd become. Reven was weaving her way between Vanth's unsteady looking feet, bumping and rubbing and looking overall pleased with herself. This girl want her first, but she was the first joining the Negaverse, and that was an important milestone. "You've got magic, too," the cat was saying excitedly. "But we'll wait to see what kind later, in a more controlled seeing." Recent nodded at the general's patientinterhection. "Right. And also don't worry about mykidneys, I'm not a normal cat."

“Can I learn more? Can you, or...well, will you teach me?” Vanth’s whole mein beamed. “It won’t just go away, will it? Or...is there a limit to it? How do I take it off if I need to? I can’t imagine just wearing this to school, of course. Are there books? And places to go?“ The young senshi laughed, delighted, “There’s so much I don’t know about any of this!” “Thank you for not disappearing like that other cat. You won’t, will you? You’re not going to just run away now?”
