Once Sherwood knew what had happened to Merlinite she could think of very little else. She had asked Camelot to take her to him when it was safe to do so, pestering him probably more than she should have to allow it. More than once she'd offered her energy, wanting to be of some help, and it seemed like time went by doubly slow until the evening when she was supposed to meet him at the library. He had said the half youma was ok, but she wanted to see that for herself not because she didn't believe him, but because he was a friend and she hadn't known. She felt a bit guilty for not coming to find him sooner.
She greeted Papa Camelot warmly, as usual, but there was less of her usual sparkle tonight. She held a basket in her hands, an unusual attempt at baking, and offered him a slightly burnt looking muffin.
"You said he had plenty of energy. I thought maybe he wasn't eating so great so I brought these. Do you think he'll like them?"
She wasn't a baker and had, as usual, let her mind run away with her while she was baking them so that she left them in the oven too long. No one with taste buds should enjoy her cooking unless it happened to come from a microwave with time settings already on it. There were a great many things that Sherwood was, baker was not one of them. On second thought, she probably should have asked Arias to arrange a basket of goodies for her. Between the two of them her adopted brother was by far better at almost everything because he could focus and had patience, much more than she had.
Too late.
"You can save him, right? I mean, make him like us so he won't be hunted anymore. You can do that."
She believed that Camelot could do anything and that gave her hope.

Camelot was glad to see Sherwood, knowing she had been very worried about Merlinite. Of course, now that he'd gotten energy and his youma side had been able to heal itself a bit better, he was doing well. He bore scars from the battle, and a very mangled wing that he could no long extend or balance himself with when he was climbing or jumping, but the costs could have been much worse.
Hadaya was there to help conceal their auras, as best he could, though he stayed quietly in his cat bed, on a table near where Merlinite's pillows were.
"I'm doing my best to do just that," Camelot said, nodding his head. "Once Merlinite purifies, he'll be free from the Negaverse. He'll have a civilian life again, I hope, and will be able to start things over."
"One can hope, anyway," Merlinite said, coming over to meet them in the alley rather than waiting for them to come down to the basement. He was spending less and less time there anyway, out of concern for Camelot and drawing too much attention now that his secret was theoretically out there.
Camelot might have trusted Negaverse soldiers, but Merlinite did not.
"Worried about me, eh? I really appreciate how nice all you knights and senshi have been about this whole thing. It'll be cool to finally be on your side, for real, and away from Painite and all her crazy minions." Well, at least further away from them than he was at the moment, which was better than nothing.

Sherwood nodded, believing in him because that's what she did. She hugged him for it, for good measure, and smiled when she heard another familiar voice. Her face brightened as she turned around, spotting just the dragon she'd come to see. He didn't look great, but he was alive and that was enough. After all, they'd all had bad things happen to them in this war. Surviving was the important thing.
"Puff!"
Maybe when he was no longer half dragon she'd have to give up the nickname. Not likely, considering who she was, but possibly she'd find something new to call him. No one else who didn't know him before would possibly understand the significance of the name. She hugged him too, trying to be careful of any lingering injury.
"It's good to see you."
Sherwood still shuddered at Painite's name. She couldn't help it. Seeing the General's spear over her head was the most scared she'd ever been in her entire life. Getting anyone away from her was a good thing in her book.
"Are you healing up ok?"

Merlinite swished his tail behind him, at least glad that he could still use that. He grinned as she hugged him, returning it gently. He had claws to worry about, and did not want to cut her accidentally just because he was too excitable in his hugs.
He was still on the mend, but most of the outward injuries were healed up. His wing was too badly damaged to recover properly, remaining scarred and closed now. It was unlikely he would regain use of it, which meant the balance he had gotten so used to was now thrown.
But maybe that was a good thing. Camelot told him that he would not, after all, have a wing when he was purified. He might as well get used to how it felt now, and not be thrown off once he was a knight.
It made him smile to think about, which was probably what Camelot was trying to do anyway.
"Oh, I'm fine. Been under good care, with ol' Camelot here. I owe him a lot." He looked at Camelot seriously, but the Royal Knight just bowed his head graciously and smiled. "How have you been, Sherwood? You look pretty good. No body parts missing, at least."
