A vampire runs rampant in London. This vampire consumes not only the blood, but the soul of each individual it feeds on without mercy. The Ekons have been summoned from their homes around the world to hunt this vampire down. Their task is to make contact with the local coven leader and deduce the identity of the violator.

Nathaniel Sutton
Nathaniel stood in a cemetery in Whitechapel awaiting the other Ekon who had been summoned to hunt the Edict violator. He stood beside a large statue of an angel and looked at it with disdain. God had become an oppressing force in his life. An source of power his enemies used against him. He felt the call to this place- as the other would- and to this grave specifically. The statue was more than a statue and the cemetery was more than a city of the dead. They were the scene of a murder most foul. The statue of the angel had blood splashed across it and it loomed over the pale body of a dead vampire. There were bite wounds in the neck that were swollen and red implying the vampire's soul had been sucked out. Nathaniel had taken it upon himself to question and wipe the memories of all the workers and he'd sent them home so that the Ekon could work without interruption. The body was dressed rather professionally. A black suit, glasses, and a briefcase that had been slammed against a few tombstones but remained shut. There was no doubt this was the body of another vampire. Not the killer they sought, simply another victim. Apart from the bite on his neck, the body held various gouges and gashes. Most wouldn't recognize the weapon that he caused this but Nanthaniel did. Obtenebration. It was good to have some lead on what their prey could do.

╔══════════╗ Amelia Cross ╚══════════╝✬4th Generation✬Ekon✬A barn owl landed ontop the state in a flutter of feathers. There was nothing special about the owl, and they were fairly common in Whitechapel, but then that was why the creature had been chosen. It hooted softly at Nathaniel before it started preening its feathers. It wasn't long after that a lone female appeared in the darkness. She didn't say anything until she joined the male at the statue. "Find anything?" Greetings, pleasantries and introductions weren't needed. Amelia knew why they were here. The call, the blood in the air, Nathaniel standing there, the body on the ground. She would have been more surprised if there wasn't one. She knew Nathaniel would know something thanks to Obtenebration. Hopefully enough that she wouldn't need to sample the victim's blood in order to gain his memories.

Nathaniel Sutton "A dead vampire, confused humans, and a briefcase." Nathaniel said in response to Amelia's arrival. He picked the briefcase up off the ground and opened it to see what was inside. There were some letters, pens, and blood packs. Perhaps the assailant had been after the blood? A lesser vampire might have drawn that conclusion but these Ekon knew the truth. The vampire had been targeted for his soul. Why did that matter? The Ekon didn't know yet but finding out who this body belonged to was a start. Nathaniel took the letters and tossed the briefcase onto the ground, spilling some of the other contents. "Letters from the Amentia coven leader going out to the Lepos coven leader." Coven leaders were generally the only vampire's Nathaniel made a point of remembering regardless of relationship. They held sway and most often they were the ones who really got in the way of the investigations.

╔══════════╗ Amelia Cross ╚══════════╝✬4th Generation✬Ekon✬ "Human's are always confused." Which was fortunate for both races, though there were those who thought otherwise. The owl gave a startled hoot as the briefcase hit the ground, stretching its wings wide to take off, before settling back down. It gave Nathaniel a reproachful look, clearly displeased at the ruckus he had caused, though it caused a slight smile to creep up on Amelia's lips. "I do believe you've startled my friend here." There was a small amount of amusement in her voice at the avian's indignation. Amusement she didn't expect Nathaniel to join her in, but had learned long ago not to let that stop her. Letters from Amentia to Lepos? The poor b*****d was so close to his destination, yet he would never arrive. "What do they say?" Clearly the letters hadn't been important to the one they hunted now, but they might provide a clue as to why the male now laying dead at their feet had been targeted. While she waited for Nathaniel to answer, Amelia removed a smart phone from her pocket and bent over the victim to get a clear picture of his face. Amentia should be able to identify him without the photo, but one never knew were such an investigation might take them. His likeness might come in handy at some point. Unlike most of the old guard, she had adjusted well over the decades, adopting to new technology and fashions as they came and went. She couldn't quiet decide if the mullet or the man-bun were worse, but the advent of indoor plumbing had been a massive improvement. Then she moved onto searching the body for anything useful. Identifying signet rings, threatening notes signed by their attacker (it was never that easy), a wallet.

A small grin crept over Nathaniel's face when Amelia mentioned him startling her owl. In all the years he'd known her, her animals had never gotten more used to him. Well not since the incident at least. He examined the letters in silence for a few more seconds to ensure he grasped the contents before he answered Amelia. "The Amentia coven leader is asking the Lepos leader to provide sanctuary for our victim. There isn't much here but one of them- I don't know which one due to some pronoun issues- was worried about he victim being attacked. Strange that they did not send guards with this messenger." Nathaniel reflected as Amelia began going over the victim's belongings. The only thing of any real note that she would find was a card in his pocket with a phone number hastily scribbled on the back. The card was sticky and red with blood but the number could still be made out if one looked hard enough.

╔══════════╗ Amelia Cross ╚══════════╝✬4th Generation✬Ekon✬ "That is interesting," Amelia commented as she straightened from her body search. Interesting in that their victim knew he was in danger, yet travelled alone. "With luck one of them will know who did this." Things were never that simple, but one could always dream. She flipped over the blood-stained card in her hand and studied for a minute. "There is a number on the back. Shall I call it while you deal with the body, or do you want to make the call?" Depending on his answer she would either punch in the number on her phone or hand over the card to Nathaniel so he could call.

Nathaniel dismissed the call with a wave and continued to look at the body. He had deduced that they'd find nothing more from the corpse and so he began preparing to dispose of it. Specifically he was looking for a shovel. Meanwhile Amelia would be waiting for the call to connect and when it did she would hear a very frantic female voice answer on the other side. "Rodrick I was so worried! Why haven't you called?" The voice asked. It wouldn't be familiar to Amelia unless she'd spent a great deal of time in the Amentia Coven havens. One this was clear though, Amelia had to choose her next words carefully to avoid being hung up on.

╔══════════╗ Amelia Cross ╚══════════╝✬4th Generation✬Ekon✬ "I'm sorry to inform you Rodrick has passed on." Okay, so maybe for all her keeping up local trends, some of the language from decades past still leaked in. "I'm an Ekon investigating his murder, Amelia Cross." The E word ought to stop the woman on the other line from hanging up. At this point, she was confident the woman on the line was a vampire. Their kind never got too close to humans due to the edicts and only a fool would hang up on an Ekon. "To whom am I speaking? We'd like to meet with you and ask you a few questions."

Nathaniel returned at one point during the call to collect the body and disappeared into the graveyard to dispose of it while Amelia was on the phone. "Oh- Oh god. I- I'm-" The girl on the other line began to stutter in shock and dread. In their world, death was never a big surprise but that didn't make it any easier. After a few moments the voice on the other end composed itself and replied "I'm Kit. I am a nurse in the Amentia Coven. I am in the coven's London haven right now. Do you know how to get here?" Obviously the Ekon would but Kit was not as informed as one might imagine she would be.

╔══════════╗ Amelia Cross ╚══════════╝✬4th Generation✬Ekon✬Poor girl. The thought floated through Amelia's mind while the voice on the other end stuttered in shock. A call from an Ekon was surely one of the more unpleasant ways to find out about a loved one's death. It was a precursor to uncomfortable questions, and perhaps even more uncomfortable answers. Would Rodrick still be the man Kit thought he was by the time they were done, or would it be revealed that he had been leading a double life of sorts? Everyone had secrets and when you were immortal you had time to have more than most. Based on the letters their victim knew who he was being targeted, but did Kit? There would be no time to let the woman greave. She and Nathaniel had an investigation to solve, preferably before anyone else lost their soul. "Yes, we'll be there shortly." She informed the women before ending the call. Then she went to go see if Nathaniel had finished with the body.

Nathaniel had learned over the years that disposing of a body wasn't all that hard when you needed to do it to survive in the world. He'd disposed of entire basements of bodies, one body in a graveyard was inconsequential to him. Nathaniel returned as the call concluded and walked beside Amelia. In their world it was never safe to linger and he could ask his questions as they walked. "What have you learned?" He asked before a sudden scuttling noise came from the far end of the graveyard. Nathaniel's head snapped in the direction of the sound only to find a cat trying to make it's way up a tree and away from the creatures of the night. He shook his head and looked back towards Amelia, awaiting her answer.

I have had centuries to practice my timing. Nathaniel thought when Amelia commented on his timing. He listened to her without a word to interrupt until she'd finished explaining what she learned. Hopefully the coven leader was in their London haven. It would be unfortunate for the Ekon if they needed to search for the leader in other havens. "It is almost too fortuitous. I don't like how much the Amentia coven seems involved in this. We will have to be careful." The was fairly stating the obvious but it was important that Nathaniel was voicing his concern to Amelia rather than keeping it to himself.
