There was still no date set for the wedding, and neither he nor Arias had seemed to really mind that fact, which should have been a clear warning that there was an issue, though for some reason, Whisler couldn’t find the energy to see it as one.
Perhaps the whole engagement thing had simply been a crutch, a way to make sure he held onto…held onto something.
The thought made him feel…unhappy. Unsatisfied.
He groaned as he flung himself on the surface of the roof, flinging his arms to his sides and looking upwards at the sky. Perhaps he would feel better after a trip up to his wonder? He could spend the weekend there but…
Whisler grumbled, flinging an arm up over his eyes, blocking out the light from the city as well as the light from the stars.
There was a Negaverse signature nearby…but it was weak. Though…idly he wondered if it was someone he knew. Perhaps Lapis? Or one of the other kids from Ashanite’s team? He should at least…look alive…especially since the aura seemed to be coming closer. With a grunt he pulled himself into a sitting position and just…waited. Hopefully whoever it was would come say hello…in spite of his overwhelming aura. Scoffing, Whisler scooted to the edge of the roof and rested against the short wall.
If he wasn’t…if…
Maybe he wasn’t so…bright…he wouldn’t seem so frightening.

Nitratine knew he shouldn't be out alone but there had really been no helping it. Kaz had started to get agitated while they walked around and he didn't want a freaked out youma to drag any unnecessary attention to them. So he'd sent Kaz back to the RIft knowing he was on his way home anyway. He had figured he'd be fine all on his own just getting back closer to home where he could power down. He'd been wrong. There was a rather strong power signature between him and where he wanted to be. It wasn't a familiar one but it was close enough to the two senshi that both Tourmaline and Uvarovite had told him to steer clear of. The problem was there was no way around where the Order signature was without going blocks out of his way and that was just a dangerous. <********..." Cursing he looked up toward the rooftops. At least they were up there and not down on the street where he was. If he was lucky maybe they would just assume he wasn't a threat and would leave him be as he passed.

Whisler was quiet, waiting for the weaker aura to move closer, and when it did, he called out, voice calm, though sounding strangely…lazy. “Why don’t you come up and join me, whoever’s there. I promise I won’t hurt you, I’m bored, and perhaps even a little lonely, and I could use some company.”
He kept his eyes closed as he spoke, knowing his voice would carry, and after a moment, sighed.
“I’m serious, whoever’s down there. Just come on up, or I’ll have to come on down, and we both know I’m a lot stronger than you. I can catch you if you try to run…and I’m guessing by your aura that you don’t have the ability to teleport yet…so just.”
He patted the space next to him, though the lieutenant couldn’t see.
“Just come and sit with me for a spell. Perhaps you and I can be friends.” He fell quiet again, then there came a soft chuckle. “I was a lieutenant too, once. A long time ago.”

Nitratine's luck in not getting spotted ran out just as he was starting to think he'd make it. The voice coming from above him was nice enough but it was still an Order signature. A powerful one. They hadn't attacked him though, despite the veiled threat, so there was the chance he was safe enough. Given the two he knew of already who's aura's felt like this one, and how quickly they were to attack, he'd been expecting that. "If you think I am going to hike myself up a fire escape just to come talk to you then you've got another thing coming." The building wasn't that high but it was tall enough that he didn't like the idea of climbing all the way up it. "I'll talk to you but you're going to have to come to me." God what he would give to be able to teleport.

Whisler let out a long suffering sigh and stood up, brushing the small bits of debris and rooftop dust from the back of his uniform and took a leap off of the building, landing smoothly and skillfully in front of the lieutenant and…and liking what he saw.
For a moment, the knight looked the purple clad officer up and down, laughing softly and finally, he held out a hand. Whisler. Knight of Polaris. It’s nice to meet you, even if you did make me move. I was comfortable up there.” Though, now that he was face to face with this Lieutenant…he was glad he had come down…these eyes were worth the trip. “So…You’re quite alone tonight, aren’t you? I mean. I suppose you’re safe from most people but…”
The knight paused. “Wow okay. So now here I am sounding like a total creep, but uh…” He scratched at his face, almost nervous. “Sorry about that.” What was it about highly attractive people that made it difficult to…God. He was such a fool.
This fiancé thing had him so out of practice.

Knight then, not a senshi. That was at least good to know. Knights seemed, at least from what he'd seen, to be a little less attack happy than the Senshi. Nitratine did eye the hand for a moment before he set his into the Knights. "Nitratine." Unlike the others they didn't really have titles and he didn't feel any reason to give the knight his rank. He wasn't high enough to be important anyway. "An officer is never really alone." He could call one of the others easily enough and there was always the chance that Kaz hadn't listened to him and was still lurking around somewhere keeping an eye on him. "It's alright though. I know I can be a little overwhelming." He smirked knowing the way Whisler was looking at him. It was good to see the look on a goody-two-shoes face for once.

“Nitratine, hm? What a mouthful.” His voice was light. Almost flirty. So maybe he hadn’t lost his touch completely.
“I suppose. I mean, you’re not alone right now at least. I’m here.” He tossed his long blonde hair and was pleased when some of the crystals clinked happily against each other. “Also, little lieutenant. You’re not overwhelming, I’m just not used to people who think they can be half as pretty as me. Though, you’re putting up a good fight, Nitratine.”
He winked, though found himself caught in the bright green eyes once more. Damnit. Why was it always chaos.
“So…Besides introductions, what brings you out on a night like this? It’s hot. Though…” He shrugged. “I’m always hot so. Maybe you just came out to see me, yeah?” Okay. Now he knew he was laying it on too thick but...he had missed this. The excitement, the little spark of danger…the feeling of chaos against his skin…
For a moment, he hesitated, then blew out a long breath. “Yeah.”

He laughed softly, tucking a bit of hair behind his hear. "Okay, first. There are a few million people in the world who would be happy to tell you that I am the prettiest thing alive so don't go there." The Knight was handsome, he did have to give him that, but not quite on his level. Maybe if he wasn't a Knight he'd have looked better but that whole sickly sweet aura ruined things. "What else brings people like me out? So much trouble to get into and so little time." He had a few energy orbs tucked away but the Knight didn't need to know about that. The last thing he needed was the Knight to try to take them away. He was already a bit behind on his quota. "Don't try so hard sweet heart. you might pull something."

“Hah!” Whisler grinned, shaking his head. “Oh, you do think you’re something special, don’t you, kid?” He watched the lieutenant, cautious but…intrigued. He seemed…fun. Or, at least interesting. Someone who he could at least…pass the time with and enjoy himself.
…it had been too long since he had flirted with darkness and…this was a lieutenant. There wasn’t even any danger in this.
“Don’t try too hard?” The words came out as a purr, despite a great effort to stop them. “And what makes you think I’m trying at all? Look, if you’re getting into trouble, why not get into trouble with me? I’m pretty fun once you get to know me…and…”
He shrugged, holding a hand out for the lieutenant again. “I was where you were before. I used to be on your side of things. But. You know. Stupid decisions are made sometimes and…then even stupider decisions come when you’re given the chance to fix the first ones.”
Whisler gestured vaguely to the glowing marks on his face. “But. What can you do other than keep living and enjoying yourself, right?”

"I don't think anything about being special. I know I am." He had worked hard to be who and where he was and saw no reason to downplay it. Being humble was for boring people and he had no time for that. "You're going to have to try a lot harder than that though if you think you're going to convince me that I'm not happy right where I am." Uvarovite had warned him that there would be some who would try to tempt him to the other side. Knights and Senshi who thought they were right and want him to be 'right' too. Unfortunately he was happy where he was. "Are you so sure the stupid decision wasn't doing this?" he waved a hand vaguely at Whisler's person as he spoke.

He blinked, frowning for a moment, not quite comprehending the words. “No, that is what I mean. I made a stupid decision and left. I don’t remember why, but I know I must have…” He held up his hands, making quotation marks in the air. “Wanted it. Or at least that’s’ what I was told by someone…who I do trust so, there’s that.”
He lowered his hand back towards the male and scoffed. “Are you going to take my energy or not? My arm’s getting tired.”
Whisler let his eyes linger on the snowflakes for a moment then tore his gaze away, focusing on something more pleasant. Like those bright green eyes. “I was given the chance to return but something in my stupid brain, or heart or whatever…decided it would be a great idea to spit on the chance and thus…I started glowing instead. And so now I’m stuck. So. The moral of the story kid, if you purify, you’ll forget why and then long to go back, and then mess up and then get stuck. So just. Stay where you are and keep yourself whole.”
For a moment, the knight grew quiet, and then he felt like an utter idiot. That wasn’t…that wasn’t something you just out and told everyone you met…but. Whatever. He supposed he was on another chaos swing, drawn to the darkness like a moth to flame.
Oh, Arias would be so pissed if he found out.

"You really want me to drain your energy?" He reached out, fingers wrapping around Whisler's wrist instead of his hand. He wasn't even sure he could take it given how much stronger the Knight was than him and those glowing markings. Firefly had them too and Tourmaline had practically snarled when she'd warned them all to stay away from him. Whisler was offering it though .... "I intend to stay right where I am." He couldn't imagine leaving Cornetite and Mab. Plus he knew without a doubt that Tourmaline would kill any of them if they tried. He might not like her or Uvarovite but he respected them. "So you can't remember why you decided to become a Knight? And you can't go back?" While he spoke he focused a bit on drawing energy out of the Knight, a little slower than he normally would half expecting a trap.

Whisler couldn’t deny that he felt just a little disappointed by the grip to his wrist and shrugged. “I have more than enough. It’s a side effect of the glow. I just. Brim with energy or something. You know, kid. I don’t know. I was hoping you’d have a bit more…”
He shrugged, focusing on the strange ability to share his energy and directing it towards Nitratine. “I was just hoping you would have a bit more…finesse. You started off so promising and I thought I might have found…” He sighed, shrugging again. “Never mind. I’m glad you intend to stay where you are. That’s good. And no, I can’t go back. There’s no way to get rid of these marks, and believe me, I’ve tried. Mostly. I’ve tried to try. Nobody knows how, and the person who was supposed to help me.”
Whisler looked angry for a moment, then just seemed tired. “******** out of my life again so here I am. Stuck in a holding pattern and…bored. I’m just. Bored. Every time I think I have it together…I’m wrong.”

"More finesse?" He raised a brow slightly. His other hand came up, fingers brushing along the back of Whisler's hand as he pulled the energy into a ball. The hand that had been around the knights wrist loosened, fingers dragging across Whisler's palm as he picked up the ball of energy, balancing it on his fingertips for a moment. The knight did have a point. He did have a very bright energy spark and going over his quota would be nice. "Perhaps you shouldn't be so quick to judge. You should know, someone like you, i would have no reason to trust. No reason to be nice, or soft, yet here I am. Still talking to you." It wasn't as if Nitratine could do much to actually hurt the Knight. He didn't actually have a weapon and the other man was taller, and broader, than he was. "I also shouldn't be helping but ... there's one of the Senshi. Purple haired, has a lantern. No idea what his actual name is but he's got the same markings. Maybe he could give you more insight." If Whisler wanted them gone it couldn't do much damage to send him to Firefly. Maybe Whisler could get more information from the Senshi and give it to him. He tucked the energy orb into his coat before running his fingers along Whisler's palm again. "Maybe you're just going about getting things together the wrong way."

For a moment, Whisler simply stared at the lieutenant, and then, slowly a smile began to play about his face. “Well. Yeah, I suppose. But I did promise I wouldn’t hurt you. Would trusting me have been so wrong?” He glanced at the pale fingers stroking his palm and gave a soft laugh.
“I do appreciate it. You staying. And…I’ll look for this senshi. I’ve spoken to the ones that I know…but…” He shrugged. “To be honest…I don’t really pal around with my kind much. I’m drawn towards chaos. No matter how much I think I want to fight it…”
His hand reached up, hesitating for a moment before playing with the small braid that hung by the lieutenant’s cheek.
“…It just calls me back. It wants to call me home, I know it. Hopefully…one day I can answer.”
