Given everything that had happened lately Lucien hadn't been keen on Arin going out alone but he couldn't exactly tell the other man what to do either. He'd told him to be careful and to not get himself into trouble but no matter what he still worried. There was a whole ... gang of Negaverse officers who all had their number now and there was no telling when they'd run into them again.
He'd kept himself busy though, editing photos for a while before sitting on the couch to answer emails and get a bit of boring work done. It meant he wasn't constantly looking at the clock and wondering when Arin would be home.
It did mean though he had to get up and reheat his tea a couple times since he kept forgetting about it and tea never stayed hot enough long enough.

He'd taken the long way home, looping around enough places to leave an inconsistent trail before powering down once confirming he was alone. He pulled out his cell to check his location and whether or not he could get home in a reasonable time or if he should just make arrangements with Lyft or Uber. In the end, Uber won out. Arin thanked the driver as he slid out of the car, passing the guy in the front a tip. He checked to make sure he had his phone and keys before heading upstairs to rejoin his fiancee-- his fiancee-- in their apartment. The door was locked behind him as he toed his shoes off, tucking them just off to the side of the door. He shrugged out of his coat, glancing over to where Luc sat on the couch before following the soft glow of the computer screen. He leaned over the back of the couch, brushing a light kiss to his lover's temple. "Made it home in once piece."

Luc didn't realize how much he'd been thinking about where Arin was until he heard the door open and the sound of the other man taking his shoes off. He let go of a breath he'd been holding and smiled slightly as he heard Arin moving around the front of the apartment. "Uneventful night?" He set his laptop on the side table and turned his head to look at his fiance. "Come sit down, unless you're going to go get a shower before you settle in for the evening?" Sometimes Arin did and others he didn't depending on how his night had gone. Arin didn't look like he'd had a rough night but Luc knew the other man was good enough at hiding that if he wanted to.

"I didn't get into a physical fight, if that's what you mean by 'uneventful'." He laughed softly as he reached over, running his fingers through Luc's hair before standing straight. During the ride home he'd thought about how to broach this conversation; what the best way to tell Luc about how his night had gone would be. The final answer as that there was no 'best way' and no matter what happened it wouldn't be 'simple'. He'd put himself in danger; exposed his past to someone who could be a very real threat. He could have left his name out of things; could have left the claim of being a former Negaverse officer empty, but right there in that moment he'd felt it more important that she know. Sighing, Arin slid around to the other side of the couch, dropping down onto the cushions beside his lover. He looked to Luc for a moment as he closed his eyes, running his fingers back through chunky locks of silver hair. "I crossed paths with a General tonight-- Not one that we've met before, but she was wearing an amulet with the symbol of Corvus on it."

"That is usually what I mean when I know you're out alone." Arin didn't look like he'd gotten into any trouble though and Luc knew there were other ways to get into trouble out there. Even more so knowing Mag Mell's past and what that could dag up if they weren't entirely careful. He knew Arin wasn't trying to hide it either and that worried him even if he knew why Arin did it. As Arin came around the couch he frowned slightly. The look on his fiance's face wasn't a good one which meant that something had happened. When Arin sat down he reached out, shifting slightly and setting a hand on the other man's thigh. As Arin spoke his fingers tightened slightly. "How ... no I know how. You crossed paths or you confronted?" There was really only one way for someone to have gotten anything with that symbol on it. They would have had to have taken it from Corvus.

"She approached me." He hadn't exactly been hiding, using his knight magic to create a beacon in the night to draw anyone to him. He'd wanted some form of communication, had half expected a confrontation... "She asked me if I knew that there were monsters and things that go bump in the night and I let her know that I used to be one." He made a soft sound caught somewhere between an unimpressed laugh and a snort, hand coming down to rest atop Lucien's. "I told her that Corvus was a mutual friend of ours and that I couldn't imagine she was all too happy to have had something of hers taken, unless it was given freely. It-- She said that C had traded the charm for her starseed, and that didn't sound like something she would have done either. It had to have happened before the s**t-show with that Nega team." The pieces weren't all there and try as he might he couldn't grasp them enough to put them together. It didn't matter in the long run when it had happened, or that it had happened at all. The pendant had been a sign that opened lines of communication that he might not have had otherwise and that was the important part. "She wanted to know whether or not I'd been forced to stray from the Negaverse, so I told her that it didn't work that way. I don't know why I told her as much as I did. I thought I was getting through to her." He drew in a breath, letting it out as a deep sigh as he drew his hand away from his lover's. "She's got a starseed that she wears on her belt. It's like I thought if I could get through to her there would be a chance to save both of them."

"God you know I hate it when you do that." Luc's tone wasn't accusatory, voice soft, as he listened to Arin talk. He knew why Arin did it, knew his fiance wanted to bring others back to their side if he could, but that didn't mean he had to like the fact that Arin was putting himself in danger every time he did it. Even worse when he did it without back up out with him. Even if he didn't actively try to stop Arin from doing it that was one thing they were, most likely, never going to completely agree on. The bit about Corvus trading the charm for her starseed wasn't as surprising to him as it should have been. He knew Cordy had almost given into one of the officers once, in one of the darker bits of her life, so something happening a second time wasn't as shocking. Cordy was safe now though, Transcended like him and sure of her path. "You told her what you did, whatever that was, because you want to save them. I know you want to make sure they know there is a way out and that they don't have to be afraid." His hand tightened on Arins' thigh again before he took his hand back to run his fingers though his hair. "But, please have someone with you if you talk to her again. Me or one of the kids or Corvus or Celsus. I know you can handle yourself but I can't ...." He knew there would be officers who would like nothing more than to drag Arin back kicking and screaming and he wouldn't be able to handle it if something happened to the other man.

"It doesn't always work that way, Luc. I can't just drag one of you along to tag along with me when I go out looking for late night conversations with Negaverse officers. They can pick up on auras just like we can." If one of them sensed something was off it could turn a whole situation to s**t within seconds. There were so many lines that he couldn't take the risk of crossing in the dangerous game he played. "Sumi or Eta would be the best to bring along. You can't sense either of them until you're right on top of them, but they've got important things to do as well." Arin puffed out another frustrated huff of air, running his fingers through his hair before rising to his feet to pace across the living room. Generals were supposed to be more certain. They were supposed to be the monsters that went bump in the night; terrors that roamed the streets looking for those they could corrupt. Maybe the one he'd crossed paths with had been like that at one point. Maybe she still was, deep down, but something about her had seemed so conflicted that he couldn't just let it go. "I don't have a way of finding any of them again after talking to them. We can't communicate between factions..." It turned into a matter of hoping that they found him, good or bad. It was why he had to make sure that he was recognizable if this was how he was going to live the powered side of his life. "How can we make a difference if we can't get through to them?"

"Take Erato or Bemuda. They're not threatening," Sadly in Erato's case not threatening in the slightest. "They wouldn't, shouldn't, make anyone uncomfortable. And you know there have to be some of them out there that aren't sure they're in the right place." That was how they'd gotten Ragnifer at least. The Senshi hadn't belonged with the Negaverse and he hadn't posed a threat. Unlike a General who had, at least at some point, been able to best Corvus. "I know you want to help but it scares me every time you do that alone." He murmured. He didn't want to discourage Arin. He knew helping anyone who wanted to leave was important to him. He wanted to help and support Arin in that as much as he could but he still wanted to protect him too. He wanted to protect all of them but he knew he'd never forgive himself, or anyone else, if anything happened to Arin that he could have prevented. "We can get through to them. We got through to you and Ragnifer and we know there are others. We'll save as many of them as we can but we have to keep each other safe as well." He watched Arin pace around, wanting to get up and stop him but knowing that probably wouldn't help. "I want to help you save them. It's not just you against the Negaverse Arin. It's Us."

"They're not threatening but you know just as well as I do that either of them would be a risk to have around with a General." It would be a liability that he couldn't afford and a risk he wasn't willing to take. If something happened to either of them because he had a moment of irresponsibility while trying to get through to someone... Arin paused, lifting a hand to pinch at the bridge of his nose before rubbing at his face. As his hand dropped back down to his side he looked across the room to his lover. "I know that it's not me versus them, Luc. I know that I'm not alone and I promise that I'm not trying to do this alone, but..." He didn't know how to go about explaining to his fiancee what he felt or why. The conversation tonight could have gone drastically different if he hadn't been alone. It could have gone much worse. "I've got my signet ring upgraded now. I can reach out to you, to any of you, if I'm in trouble. I wasn't in trouble tonight..." Tonight just had a chance of causing trouble in the future.

"But you could have been and it could be trouble later if she tells anyone about you. She might be wavering but if she tells someone who's not then you've got more than just the ones we already know about trying to hunt you down." It was bad enough they had the group they did after them all. Adding more fuel into the fire wouldn't be a smart move. "You know we all work better in teams and I just ..." He bit his lip, trying to find the right words for what he was feeling. Talking about things hadn't ever come easy to him and he was more used to just saying whatever he wanted however he wanted. "For a little bit, at least until we've got a better handle on how we all work best together. For my sanity. Can you take someone with you? Even if they're watching from a distance." He knew Sumi would go with Arin if he asked and so would pretty much anyone else. "We'll figure out the best way to do it, even if that means using you as bait sometimes." Even if he hated that idea.

"I can't promise you that, Luc. You know I won't make a promise to you that I can't keep." There was no way for him to guarantee that he would always have someone with him when he powered up. He could agree to try. He could make more of an effort to, but he couldn't make that promise. "I don't go out alone often. Haven't much really since that first run-in with Arachne when he clocked me and you got worried about it." He wandered back across the living room, pausing in front of his lover. He reached down, running his fingers gently back through Luc's hair. "I love you. I know that doesn't solve everything, but I do, and I don't do this, any of this, to make you worry."

He reached up and set his hands lightly on Arin's arms as he looked up at him. "I know you don't mean to worry me, no one does, but I do." He worried about Cordy just as much. She had gotten so much better, so much calmer, but she was still Cordelia. "I don't like the idea of any of us going out alone but you've got a special target painted on you and I worry that if you don't have someone with you..." Even one of the 'kids' would be able to call for help if someone managed to incapacitate Arin. "Im going to worry even if you do have someone with you that isn't me. I would like us both to make it to the wedding." He smiled slightly as he slid his hands up to catch Arin's lacing their fingers together.

He leaned down, brushing his lips to the center of Luc's forehead. He leaned back, looking his lover for a moment before drawing the other man to his feet with the hold he'd taken on his hands. "Sweetheart, we're going to have to set a date first... Decide on a venue, hire a band... And who are we going to get to be our photographer?" His tone remained teasingly soft, words peppered with gentle kisses to the other man's lips in brief pauses. "Do you have any work that you need to finish up? Or can I keep finding ways to distract you?"

"I know a few people I might ask to do photographs." They did have to do everything else but they'd both been busy and hadn't had time to sit down together and go over things. He and Cordy had come up with a color scheme and most of a theme, thankfully they didn't need much since neither he or Arin needed a huge ceremony. But they had friends they wanted to invite and they both knew everyone could use some normalcy in everything and a wedding was a good way to make that happen. "I did my work earlier today so you can keep distracting me all you want."
