Physical Description: Segwen is shorter than average, and she's a bit pudgy and pale, spending most of her time indoors. She wears her long black hair in a simple bun. She has striking pale grey eyes, slightly slanted.
Personality: Segwen is a woman ruled by logic and not emotions. She prides herself on her intelligence and analytical mind. She is detail-oriented, meticulous to the point of perfectionism. She is a neat, orderly person, and can always be relied on to do what she's said she will do, even if her dependence on logic and routine make her slow to act. However, as efficient as Segwen is, her social skills are far from good. She doesn't let her emotions overwhelm her, she thinks with her head and not her heart; but she doesn't understand why not everyone thinks the same way she does. She tends to come off as blunt, tactless at best, and as a result, she tends to draw away from people. She rarely puts forth the effort to make friends, though she's not unfriendly when approached.

History: It wasn't that Segwen hated her twin sister, Jaspen. It was just that Segwen never really seemed to understand her more outgoing twin, and vice versa. So while Jaspen was out dancing and making friends, Segwen stayed inside, reading and learning from her mother and father's crafts. While Segwen's mother was a healer, she took more interest in her father's stories of sailing. When it came time to pick a craft, however, it turned out she was more interested in the skies than the seas, and she apprenticed to the Starcraft Hall.
Even if she was a loner, Segwen was in her element, and her interests turned from maps of the stars to maps of Pern. A turn after she chose to specialize as a cartographer, a searchrider came from High Reaches Weyr, where a particularly large Hatching was expected soon. Segwen was surprised when she was picked out to be a candidate. Though she was a little reluctant at first, she agreed, figuring she could at least continue her craft on the side, if she even Impressed. It was much later, and with an incredulous stare, that she learned her rarely-heard-from twin Jaspen had become a candidate as well.
