Physical Description: Helaku is tall and lean with about as much muscle as one would expect of a teenage weyrbrat, with hands that are often stained by various leather dyes. His black hair is short and somehow always manages to look vaguely scruffy. Light brown eyes--just this side of gold--are set in a friendly face (if a rather long one), with a mouth used to smiling. His clothes tend to be of simpler styles, though there's a touch of color here and there.
Personality: Helaku is a cheerful young man, often ready with a smile and a warm welcome, perhaps a self-deprecating little joke or two. He's quick to try to make someone feel at ease, or to step in on someone's behalf when he feels their well-being is in danger.
A little too quick to step in, maybe...an impulsive individual, he has a worrisome tendency to leap before he looks and it's only a matter of time before it gets him hurt (as this is not the best tendency to have around baby dragons with sharp teeth and sharper claws; he's already had a few near-misses in the background of past Hatchings). Not everyone wants his well-meaning "interference" either, earning him sharp words from the very person he intended to "save." His best defense at this time is an expression best described as 'kicked puppy.' Why are you mad? He was just trying to help!
He's honest, though what he is not is blunt to the point of rudeness. He will not be hurtful, but an unrequited crush would be gently let down. He tends to assume others are honest as well. He also believes people are generally good when given the chance, and given the option he'll give them that chance. This extends to those that...probably shouldn't be given that chance, on second thought. Put simply, he's a terrible judge of when it's time to cut his losses.

History: He was born in the Weyr and was often in the care of people that made sure he became a decent upstanding young man. They might have been too successful considering he's now a well-meaning meddler. He's been standing for several years, and in his mid-teens he began picking up Tannercraft as a potential source of income and a way to contribute to the Weyr regardless of whether he eventually Impressed or not. He's managed to scrounge together enough for one firelizard egg so far, as he finds the little creatures charming. It's almost certainly more spoiled than it needs to be. Other than that, most of his 'extra' currently goes into a small nest egg intended for more/better tools.
