”Fun fur all!” A little ways away from all of the food attractions is a neatly fenced in dog park. The area is wide and free to roam with your furry friend, and along the sides are little kiosks with treats for you AND your pup! Not only that, but the local rescue center, “A Round of A-paws” has set up it’s own little area with a few of the sweetest and most loving furry friends they have who are looking for a new home! Come on over and play for a while, and maybe, just maybe, you’ll find a new best friend to take home!
One wouldn't think just by looking at Roderick that he loved cheesy little fairs like this one. But oh boy did he! He was thrilled to be here, hand in hand with his lover, the other hand firmly grasping the leash of his best furry friend. While it was tempting to just go on every ride they had, he needed to take into account that while HE loved all of the rides and games, his sweet pup Staccato wasn't exactly built to withstand that sort of thing.
Oh well! He was still excited and readily tugged Julian along with him towards the designated pet area.
"I read that they will have some puppies available for adoption too." The excitement was more than a little evident in his voice as he carefully pushed open the gate, making sure they were all inside and none of the smaller dogs escaped before closing it behind him. "If you see a pup that just won't let you be, Julian, we have to bring them home. It's just meant to be. Hehe, if we do though, we're going to go out and buy a proper kingsized bed."

Roddy was taller than Julian, and while it wasn't by a substantial amount, the height difference coupled with the larger man's enthusiasm had Julian's legs moving quicker than he expected! Staccato was happily trotting alongside his dad, sights and sounds and smells all around to experience that were different and unusual. It wasn't every day that the fair came to town! And the moment it did? Roddy was enthused beyond description and halfway out the door before Julian could spell the words funnel cake. Banners and flyers posted in and around the fair detailed a pet adoption drive in an effort to find homes for some of Destiny City's canine homeless. Perhaps Julian was simply more concerned, and the apprehension shown plainly on his face as the trio made their way to the puppy pen. "Roddy, are you sure? I just... don't want Staccato to get jealous! I don't mind taking care of another dog, of course, especially if it makes you happy." Julian himself wouldn't have minded another dog, but he had many bullet points in his head - was their yard big enough? Oh yes, definitely. With effort from both men, the front and backyards were very well-kept. Julian's dog walking business for the neighborhood could easily afford another dog, and perhaps walking in a pack with multiple new canines would be excellent training for any new puppy... And since Julian worked in the home, the puppy would have near-constant supervision... That is, if Staccato thought it was alright. Julian didn't know the first thing about the training that the Labradoodle completed to become a service dog... The way Roddy's eyes twinkled while mentioning buying a king-size bed made Julian believe the larger man had wanted this all along. With a nervous chuckle, Julian tugged at the hem of his well-loved shirt. At his feet, several puppies of many indiscriminate breeds practically boiled, hopping up on top of and over each other, excited to meet all the new people! "What does Staccato think?"

"Jealous? Oh no no no, I don't think Staccato will get jealous at all, isn't that right, buddy?" Roddy stopped just short of where Julian did, standing a bit away so that all the puppies could go to the paler man for attention. Staccato stood right beside him, tail swishing and wagging excitedly and looked up when he heard the word 'buddy' with an approving 'boof'. Maybe it was just a liiiitttle hard to tell what exactly the dog was thinking, but either way, Roddy took that as no protest at all.
"See? He's just as excited as I am. So of course it's alright. But you know, I want to do this to make you happy. I'm not sure how to explain it but... It's a whole new feeling when you're raising and caring for something that's dependent on you.. You teach it, make sure it knows right from wrong and... It's just incredibly rewarding. I assure you, you'd make a great doggie dad!"

Several of the potential adoptees had boiled their way over to Staccato, barking and sniffing and falling all over themselves in excitement. Puppies of many breeds - recognizable and otherwise - in a multitude of colors were scrambling to sniff the Labradoodle. Julian couldn't help but laugh. Maybe it was Staccato's excellent training that kept him from getting too wild with the puppies, but anyone could tell the Labradoodle was excited. His tail was wagging and his whole head followed a few of the puppies as they scampered around. One in particular - a smaller breed, from what Julian could tell - seemed to stay by his legs the majority of the time. Curious, the pale man knelt down to take a good look at this puppy. He or she was a very dark charcoal color, and while Julian didn't know every dog breed by sight, noticed the puppy sported bushy lighter cream eyebrows, a puffy snout and a short, stumpy tail. "Hello, little pup~" he cooed, tapered fingers passing gently over short, wiry fur. "You're very well-mannered, aren't you?" The idea of being a doggie dad brought a blush to Julian's face. He thought of himself as more of a doggie friend or a doggie caretaker, but when one thought about it... providing everything for someone or something, and loving them unconditionally, did make someone a dad. "Would you like to meet Staccato, little pup? Oh, maybe I can pick you up? Would that be okay?" Obviously, a puppy simply couldn't answer, but they brimmed with energy nonetheless. Chuckling, Julian bent to scoop the little thing into his arms to present to Roddy and Staccato for inspection. "So... what do you think? This little one just sat by me. Do you think that's a good sign?" (( I'm thinking something like this! ))

Roderick stood back as Julian went to interact with the pups, holding Staccato loosely, but steadily by his side. It was so very clear to see the dog was excited to be here, and the moment that Julian stepped back in their direction with the puppy in his arms, his tail just went even more crazy.
"Oh, yes, I think that is an excellent sign. A calmer pup is always the best for a new owner, I think." It was a simply precious little one too, curiously sniffing at them as they brought her to their little family.
Staccato took a few sniffs at her, then pressed his nose to her little head and licked it.
"I think Staccato approves too."

Julian took tentative steps towards Staccato, who was so well-behaved as per usual. Bending down to rest on his knees, pup in his arms, Julian leaned forward to allow the two dogs to sniff one another. The puppy wiggled so hard that she might have oozed clean out of his arms had he not had a good grip on her! "Look Staccato! Is this a little sister for you?" He was certain their household could easily accommodate a second dog, but would Staccato be alright with being an older brother? Surely Roddy wouldn't mind a third family member happy to see him when he got home from work... Looking up to Roddy with a wiggling pup in his arms, Julian smiled and it reached his eyes in record time. "...What do you think, Roddy? I think... she's adorable, and Staccato seems to like her. Do you think, maybe, we could take her home? Of course I'll take care of her, and do my best to train her... I don't know if I can do as well as you have with Staccato, but that's better than nothing! Right?"
