”End of the Night” All of the hustle and bustle of the day is coming to an end, and only a few stragglers are left. Stands are all closed up for the night, and the last bus is preparing to take off to the schools once again. As tired as you are, you still manage to take this quiet moment to reflect on your day. Whether those memories were good or not, you just know you’ll remember them for years to come.
Luckily, Kelly agreed to go with him, and when they met up, he could feel his chest simply well up with happiness in just seeing her shy smile and feeling her hand in his his as they explored the fair together. From the sweet smells of the funnel cakes to rides that tossed and turned his guts so much that they needed to take a break for a while, he enjoyed every single moment of it.
Being with her made it feel as if all the horrible things he had seen and had to do just disappeared. He wouldn't give that feeling up for the world, and if he could, he would have asked to always be with her, since being with her made all that pain go away... Yet with all good things, it had to come to an end eventually...
Now he was leading her towards the bus stop, planning on riding back with her to the school and make sure she was well on her way to where she was going before he phoned his general to take him back to the barracks. He really... Really didn't want to... He wanted so badly to just stay with Kelly and feel that true happiness for just a little longer... But it just wasn't right to burden Kelly with that sadness he was carrying so he did what he always did. December simply gave her his best smile and squeezed her hand as they got onto the bus.
"Did you have a good day, Kelly? I had so much fun together with you! I wish we could stay longer!"

Kelly smiled, nodding happily and hugging the stuffed rabbit that she had won in one of the games. “It was so much fun, Dessy…I love things like that. She made her way to a bus seat, and rested her head on the boy’s shoulder almost at once after they were both sitting down. “Maybe…maybe if you wanted you could spend the night tonight? My father won’t like it, but you can climb up into my window if you want. My brother does it all the time.”
She didn’t want today to end. It had been more fun than she had in a long time...but she supposed that was to have been expected with it being December who she was spending the day with. He always made her feel so much better about…well.
Everything.
“And I mean…my parents don’t really talk to me much anymore so, they won’t come and find out what’s going on…and besides. We’re just…” She shrugged. “It won’t be a big deal, you can come and stay over tonight, I’m an adult now, so I can decide for myself if I want a friend over.”
Her desperation was stronger than her conviction, and for a moment, Kelly buried her face against the rabbit. “So…if you want. I don’t want today to end.”

As soon as Kelly had her head on his shoulder, December put his arms around her, holding her gently as they sat there together. He didn't want this night to end either, honestly... The Negaverse wasn't at all like it was here at Kelly's side. It was warm here, just being with her felt like there was something bright in the world and he wanted to just be always within that light, and he was happy. But he knew the moment he left her side, he'd go back to feeling alone again.
He really, truly did not want this night to end... Not yet..
"That sounds so sneaky, going through windows and hiding in your room.. Hehe, sure, I'd love to spend the night. If I'm going through the window, should I stop and get snacks first so we don't have to leave? We can play more games and watch T.V. or just talk.. As long as it's with you, I think I'm really happy to do anything." December couldn't deny that he was worried about Kelly at times... She smiled alot while they were together but... Somehow it felt like it was distant at times. They talked alot together, for sure, but both of them seemed to be keeping secrets from one another, using each other for only the good times, not the bad...
And right now, December wanted himself to be there for all the bad times too, if Kelly would let him.
"I dunno what's wrong with your parents, not talking with you... They must be silly or super busy because if I were them I'd talk to you every single day. You're the best and I adore you!" To emphasis it, he leaned over, nuzzling into the top of her head and only slightly messing up her pretty curls. "Hrm... Do you have anything I can sleep in?"

Kelly relaxed at the feeling of arms around her and nodded, though laughed softly. “Maybe we could…yeah that would work. But maybe we should get the snacks together, it might be best. Besides what if you end up getting lost in the dark? And then I’d stay up waiting for you all night, and I’d be sad and think that you just…”
She broke off and tried to force a smile. “Ah. Wow sorry that got a little too deep there. But please. I just. I mean…”
Kelly finally fell quiet and shrugged. “…I guess maybe I don’t know what I mean. But, I have extra pajamas, yeah. And they should fit you with no problem, Dessy.”
Quietly, Kelly buried her face against the rabbit’s stomach and for a moment, just pretended that she didn’t exist. But she did, and Dessy’s gentle arm around her kept reminding her of that and…for one wild, awful moment she wasn’t sure if this boy was a blessing or a curse. She didn’t know where she would have been without his support but…
No. Those were not the thoughts that any sane person should have after a wonderful day like today had been, and she hated herself for even thinking them.
“I think…I’m just really tired. I think it’s starting to mess with my head.”

December looked down at the sweet girl in his arms, curious, concerned, but a little uncertain of what she meant... The mention of her getting deep only earned a tighter squeeze.
"Maybe... You'd think I'd forget..." His heart began to ache at the thought of ever forgetting his only close friend. Sometimes it felt like they would never really get closer; something felt like it was stuck between them, keeping each at arms length. But with the night as late as it was, and the exhaustion coming over them both, the very thought of leaving her side nearly made him whimper.
"I'm tired too... But I won't leave you, okay? I'm here, right here..." Before he could stop himself, he leaned his head close to her cheek, pressing them together, then turning slightly to press a little kiss to it.
"If you want, we can skip the snacks, and just go home. Maybe... Um... I think there's a movie I wanted to see. We can find somewhere that's steaming it and maybe down load it and just watch that. It's funny and nice, from what I heard, and I think maybe that could cheer you up some! And, you know, I'll be there too. I can stay as long as you want."

Kelly shrugged slowly. “No, I don’t think you’d forget anything but…I don’t know. I’m…” She shrugged again and cleared her throat before forcing a small smile. “We can skip the snacks. I’m sure I can grab some things from downstairs, at the very least some chocolate milk…”
Her cheek was tingling from where he had kissed it and she tried very hard to ignore it. To ignore the way her stomach did a frantic flip flop. To ignore the way her mind went back to another set of lips, ones that her own lips had brushed.
Ignore the thoughts of proms and dances and dates.
Ignore the memory of melted ice cream and the sound of her own name.
“I…Yeah please…just come home with me Dessy…I can’t…handle being alone tonight I don’t think.” Kelly’s eyes were beginning to sting and she couldn’t understand why. This was stupid. It had been months. And this was so stupid.
She had December. She had a friend who actually gave two shits about her…who went out of his way to make sure she was happy…
So why didn’t she just let herself be.
“God. We’re kind of a mess…but a movie sounds good. We can snuggle under all of my blankets…the fan in my room makes it a little chilly so…it’ll be nice, I think…”
It would be her first sleepover in months.
The first one she had wanted in months.

"It's okay, really, it's okay." Honestly, he wasn't sure what exactly he could do right now, so he simply held her close, squeezing her and trying to remember where the bus stop they were supposed to get off at was.
December certainly wasn't about to leave his best friend. Even if she couldn't bring herself to really talk about what was hurting her. He wouldn't push it, he'd let her take her time.
It wasn't his place to dig if she didn't want him to.
"I think that sounds amazing. All of the cuddling, and all of the chocolate milk. It'll be a great night, I just know it, because you'll be there, Kelly."

Kelly nodded and relaxed, feeling almost happy.
“Yeah. It’ll be great. Because you’ll be there too, Dessy. Thank you. I don’t know what I’d ever do without you. You’re the best thing in the whole world, and I don’t tell you that enough.
Heck on her parents. Heck on their rules.
Tonight would be amazing and she would make sure of it.
