Physical Description: Niika is not delicate in any definition of the word. While not considered tall, her broad shoulders and strong build give her the impression of being larger than she is in presence. She has almost golden red hair that is constantly braided (and her braid game is strong) and dark blue eyes that almost look black unless in the right lighting. She has several scars from overly eager dragonets.
Personality: Niika is the type of quiet person that can go easily ignored when she has nothing to say. While she is by no means a shrinking violet, her quiet ways stretch out to how she makes and entrance or exit and for some it is easy to completely ignore her. This doesn't seem to bother her, especially as she sets about her daily tasks in the kitchen or occasionally running a meal up to someone’s weyr. At times it seems as though the things she has been doing have simply appeared, fully done.

At least until she has something to say.

Niika is very pointed with her observations and when she shares them, they are worth being listened to. These can be strong opinions about the things she sees, or saying things that polite company would bypass. But not all opinions make their way out of her mouth. Her filter is strong, but only as long as she herself decides it needs to be.

She is patient, and she can wait until she needs to.

However, being left to age out has planted a seed of envy in Niika’s heart. Those who have impressed recently, or in some definitions ‘easily’, will find she struggles to contain her disdain for their fortune. While she will never blame the dragon for it, the rider will find she tries to end interactions very quickly and even goes so far as to avoid them to keep from future ones. Niika can even get snippy if this obvious barrier she’s trying to put up is needled at by another party.

Because she is so quiet and patient, she is inclined to hold onto the seeds of grudges and let them fester, rather than oust them quickly. Usually, the subjects of such grudges are those who have been the subject of her envy and needled her when she tried to push them away. She has no healthy outlet for them at this time.

She also tends to hold some of her opinions up higher than others, and if she speaks about something and it is not acted upon, she will start to become pushy. Especially when time sensitive tasks. A gentle reminder can quickly become two, three, even a physical nudge to ‘seriously, get on that’.

History: Niika was born in High Reaches Weyr to a couple who would put their daughter into the creche and leave her to be raised like many children - under the feet of everybody else. Life was mostly uneventful - the same scraped knees as any kid, and eventually the same candidate chores as any other.

However, like many candidates, no dragon would come to her. After years of waiting - and hoping - she would move out of the barracks and have to find another niche for herself. This niche has come in the kitchen, where she quietly nurses at the envy in her heart and struggles to find a new way to make herself useful in the big picture.
