⟔
A hidden island in the south. It was once the home of the Marine group known as Eden's Dove. Since their fall, the building has been abandoned and has fallen into ruin, now overtaken by the unique flora and fauna of the area. Many waterfalls rush down the large mountainous structures that are found all over the island, and the sea runs through the land, providing canals for small ships to sail around. The old Marine base is fairly small and unassuming, tucked away among the cliff side. ⟓

Astraea Tethys
XXX With a yawn, Astraea stretched her arms over her head, arching her back slightly as she stared out at the ocean as it rushed past and they approached their destination. Leaning forward against the railing, she propped her head up with her chin on her palms, closing her eyes and enjoying the feeling of the breeze ruffling her hair, a light smile on her face. Tired as she was, the mission that they'd been sent on had been successful, and the Marine was happy to be heading home. A moment before it appeared as if she was about to doze off in that position, a wadded up ball of newspaper hit the back of her head, causing Astraea to jolt up with a yelp. "Eeyah?!" Wide eyed, she threw her arm forward in instinctual retaliation, a wall of ocean water shooting up before her for a brief moment. "What?! What?!" Adrenaline competed with her groggy state and she turned around, body tensed as if she were preparing to throw herself into a fight. A could seconds after though, the familiar sounds of Roma's laughter pulling her from her panic and causing her to sigh and drop to her knees, an aura of gloom about her.
"It looked like you were getting so cozy over there! Ahaha! I had to make sure you were ready! And indeed, you would have destroyed that newspaper, Rae!"
Looking up at the smaller girl, Astraea pouted, her cheeks rosy with embarrassment, crocodile tears in her eyes. "To think you would betray me like this... when I have shown you nothing.. b-but.." Ah damn, she couldn't help it. Roma's laughter was contagious, and even though she was trying not to smile it was an uphill battle. After a couple moments Raea sat up on her knees, laughing along and playfully tossing the wad of paper back at her teammate's head. Standing up again, she'd brush her clothes off and yawn again, rubbing her eyes and looking over at Cartel as he approached. "We're about to dock. Can one of you tell Galand to get the anchor ready?" Without missing a beat, Roma brought her hand up to pat Raea's thigh, nodding vigorously. "Astraea will do it!" Blinking down at her, the young woman once more gave her friend a look as if she was betraying her, but nodded to Cartel with a smile. "Yeah, I'll let him know."
As she walked away, the sniper sighed, shaking his head as he glanced to Roma. "Oi, you shouldn-" "Shhhh! Just trust me!" Unbeknownst to Astraea, the small woman had wrapped a thin bit of rope around her leg and was waiting for her perfect moment to give it a tug. And that just happened to be as she approached their leader to talk to him. This was for their own good! Just a second before Raea was about to speak, Roma pulled hard on rope, causing the blonde to trip forward with a louder yelp than the one she'd had before. "WAH?!" As she fell she reached out and caught Galand's arm, tugging his sleeve as she struggled to regain her balance. "S-Sorry! Sorry!" She'd immediately step back, her face a deep red, eyes wide. "C-Cartel just wanted.. um.." She looked away from him, so mortified she seemingly couldn't recall why she was here anymore, refusing to meet his eyes. "The anchor.. s-so.." She trailed off awkwardly, wishing more than anything that she could fling herself into the sea. "I'm going to... to uh.. w-with the sails.."
Clearing her throat, Astraea turned abruptly, her body stiff as she marched off in the opposite direction without another word.

×××× Galand ◥ | ◤ Drace×××× ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
××××[ It was another beautiful day, just as another other. Yet, today felt particularly nice. The winds move gently, the waves sing calmly, and aboard his ship are Galand’s friends. Some of his most precious people. While standing towards the front of the ship with crossed arms, he looks back to see everyone enjoying the trip back from their latest mission. A small crosses his face as he watches Astraea cling to the world of the wake, Roma doing something with some paper, and Cartel relaxing while fixing up his rifle as per usual. For him, this is what life is supposed to be like. Adventures with close allies, and days of reprieve. He turns back forward, watching the waves before him dutifully. “Yeah. This is the best…” he states under his breath. The waves before him are mesmerizing, nearly emphasizing the calmness of the day. Only to have the peace abruptly broken by Roma and Astraea’s shenanigans.
After hearing the water burst up from the ocean, the young man turns around with surprised across his face, wondering if something were up. But to his relief does he see Roma nearly laughing her guts out while Raea panics about, confused and lost. The sight is enough to send him dropping into a sigh, glad to see everything is alright. “That darn Roma. Nearly have me a heart attack.” he says probably a bit more happily than he should have. After turning away again, he rests his hands on his hips and nods confidently, transitioning his thoughts to how she should brag to Y’shtola and the others about what an amazing job their squad did this go around. They had improved so much since the first time they all came together. Especially Roma. She wasn't the fighting type at first. Always throwing up at the mere sight of blood, but lately she’s been so proactive! With Cartel’s guidance, and both he and Astraea’s training… What could possibly beat them?! Roma’s pranks, that’s what.
Unbeknownst to him, Astrara had made her way over to Galand who is currently lost in his pride and thoughts. After hearing her sudden yelp right behind his back, he turns only to have his arm grabbed by her. Instinctively, he drops down to a knee to keep her from falling down completely. “H-Hey now! You okay?” he asks, but is only replied with fumbling words and a blushed face. His head tilts as he offers a sympathetic smile while helping her stand back up. “The anchor…? Ah! I got it! Don’t worry I’ll take care of it. You just be careful, okay? You’ve been really clumsy lately, and I don’t want you getting hurt.” he says, holding up a hand to say bye as she heads off in a fluff of embarrassment. Right after she gets far enough away, Galand turns away and places one hand on the side railing of the ship, while the other covers his mouth, all with wide eyes a blush across his face.
“H-Hey now. I had always thought it, but that Raea’s embarrassed face is deadly cute, isn’t it…? And, holding her...she was so soft.” After that last thought, he stands up tall and ruffles his hair with both hands to get his mind back on track. Roma stands around the corner with Cartel, a smug grin across her mug while the older man stares blankly with a sweat droplet sliding down his face. “You have got to be kidding me.” he says while Roma coils back with her hands covering her mouth, fighting tooth and nail to stop the impending hollering of her laugh. “I-It’s too easy! They’re too easy, Carty! It’s like a play! There’s no way this is real!” She rolls around back and forth in laughter while Galand goes to handle the anchor. All the while, his mind now filled with the adorable face he caught only moments prior. In the end, the anchors drop, and the ship docks proudly. Home sweet home. ]

Astraea Tethys
XXX Tricked again. To think that a face as innocent and adorable looking as Roma's could hide such mischievous evil. Astraea hurried off to perform the task she'd assigned herself, her face burning so hot she was almost certain they could have cooked something on it. Why was it that she could have all the confidence and grace of the world so long as she wasn't trying to strike up a conversation with their leader?! "H-He's definitely gong to think I'm lame at this rate.. Ughhhhhh..." The young woman leaned the side of her face against one of the ship's masts, slowly allowing herself to slide down onto her knees in defeat. He'd called her clumsy after all! And it wasn't as if she were in a position to argue with him on that since he was absolutely correct. If only Roma would give her a break from her pranks and tricks, but she was simply relentless. Heaving a sigh, Raea picked herself up, absentmindedly tugging at the ropes that had been tied, pulling them so that the sail would no longer catch wind and their descent would slow.
Though she'd completed her job, a moment later she'd very nearly returned to her same position, this time leaning against the mast with one arm, her face hidden against it. Try as she might, she couldn't get her heartbeat to slow, the color to her cheeks returning as she thought about what he'd said. He didn't want her getting hurt. And the way he'd held her for a moment.. "Hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..." It's not like that even meant anything! Galand cared about the well-being of everyone in Eden's Dove, and of course he'd tried to help her when she'd fallen! He was a great guy! A really, really great guy. "U-Unfair..."
From her position still on the floor, Roma continued to howl with laughter as she glanced between Galand and Astraea, pausing for just a moment to wipe tears from her eyes. "It's just... I c-can't believe.. Pffft! Ahahaha!" It was just far too amusing for her to contain herself, despite Cartel's worried sigh. "She seriously looks like she's going to pass out.." This only seemed to make the smaller woman even more entertained. "Bahahaha! Are you kidding me?! That w-would be perfect!" Perhaps never before had a friend so desperately wanted to see her companion drop then and there. It was all in the name of love of course. "Roma.." Drawing in a deep breath, she finally quelled her laughing fit and hopped to her feet, shaking her head though the grin still remained on her face. "Yeah, yeah, I got her." Taking a moment, she'd find a bucket and fill it with water, approaching the poor mermaid and promptly dousing her.
The coolness of it was surprisingly sobering, and though her bangs covered her eyes, Astraea turned to look toward Roma, offering her a silent thumbs up before sighing and pushing her damp hair from her face, shaking droplets of water from her clothing. "Thanks, traitor.." She puffed her cheeks out at her with a pout, turning and breathing a sigh of relief as she saw they could dock and head back home. Personally she was very much looking forward to a hot meal and her bed. While the other two exited the ship, Astraea stayed behind for a few moments to wait for Galand. Despite her embarrassment, she wouldn't deny to herself that she enjoyed being by his side and spending time with him. Offering him a wave and a smile as he approached, she walked with him back onto land, silent for a few moments before blurting out her thoughts. "Ah.. Great job a-as usual.. You know.. Um.." She paused as if trying to collect her thoughts. "You fight good!" WHAT?! Why did she have to open her mouth at all?! "Er, well what I mean is! Watching you.. The way you fight, and lead, and interact with others always inspires me to improve myself.. S-so thank you.."
Raea rubbed the back of her neck, glancing over at him before looking away again. "Anyway! It's nice to be back, huh?"

×××× Galand ◥ | ◤ Drace×××× ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
[ They had safely made it home! Naturally Roma was up to no good, probably pranking Astraea in some way. Evident of her overpowered laughing in the distance. He looks over in the direction with a worried smile. Though he can’t see them, he can imagine what position everyone is in. Astraea doom-and-gloom against some object, Roma on her back hollering, and Cartel sighing in his failed attempts to calm Roma down. Just imagining it is enough to have him snickering to himself, happy to have such wonderful friends with such diverse personalities. He stands himself up and goes to handle the anchor as told. Once the ship comes to a stop, Galand looks up at the temple atop the highest mountain peak--their main base. The home of Eden Dove. Proudly he stares for a few moments before noticing Roma and Cartel stepping land side, and heading on up. After hoisting the sacked spoils of their mission over his shoulder, he heads on over towards the gangplank.
A slight look of surprise takes him as he notices Astraea standing there, giving him a small wave. His surprise quickly shifts to a warm smile as he holds up his free hand to reply to her greeting. The two start to head off onto land, following some distance behind the other two casually. As usual Galand slides his freed hand into his shirt, across his abs. A habit he built up in his time back in Wano. Every so often he’d look down to Astraea from his peripheral for no particular reason other than, well, just being happy to have her by his side. Naturally he is proud to stand by all the other members, but something about Astraea just...having her there calms him. Balances him out. Even in battle the two often wind up back to back against the more dreaded odds, but if it’s them together, he feels as though any obstacle can be overcome. Except the awkwardness they seem to share when alone. His ears perk as his partner speaks up, commenting on his fighting ‘being good’. He nearly takes a misstep as he forces back the laughter.
“Pfft! Thanks a lot, and I mean it!” he starts, continuing to walk and talk. “But, if you think I’m good, it’s only because I don’t have to worry about my back. Since…” he starts, before sliding his free hand from his shirt, and pointing towards his back with his thumb. “...you’re always there watching it. I fight confidently because of you and the others. Without you guys, I’d be fish food by now! Jipapapapapa!” he laughs out loud, garnering the attention of Roma, who slyly looks over her shoulder with incredibly mischievous eyes. Though it seems for now, she’d be leaving the pair be. As they walked, the first of the three ‘House of Dove’ was getting closer in the distance. ]

Astraea Tethys
XXX As soon as Galand stopped, Astraea did as well, a blush spread across her face as she thought over her stupid word choices for the conversation she'd attempted. Why couldn't she just have been satisfied with a quiet, peaceful stroll?! A moment later though he continued walking, shrugging off the awkwardness much to her relief, turning to smile warmly at him as he explained his reasoning behind his combat prowess. "I agree. I'd be lost without you and everyone else by my side." Individually, they were all strong and talented. It's what had separated them from the crowd in the first place and had lead to the creation of Eden's Dove. But it was only because they were all linked together that they seemed to truly be an insurmountable force. Never once since she had been in combat with them had she worried for her own safety. They protected her just as much as she did them, and there weren't enough words to explain the gratitude she felt for them. "Well, you won't have to worry about that." She'd laugh along with him at his fish food comment, shaking her head slightly. "I'll always be there to watch your back."
Turning her attention back to the path they were walking, she'd breathe a sigh of relief upon seeing the first of their stops. They still had quite a ways to go before she could finally lay down and get some sleep, but seeing the First House was certainly a sight for sore eyes. As they walked this time Astraea remained silent, surprisingly pleased with the comfortable silence between her and her partner for the time being. Being around their leader was always such a strange dichotomy of emotions for her, but in the end she always found his presence soothing. She trusted him just as she trusted any other member, but he was the one she'd fought beside most often. They were a terrifying duo to behold; a Sword and Shield that could not be conquered. Whether it was with his sword or his fruit, Galand had always been unnaturally efficient at breaking enemy lines, and Astraea was uncannily good at taking blows and never wavering. Though, as the soreness of their last assignment began to rear its ugly head, the young woman certainly gave more consideration to trying to use an actual shield instead of her body...
She was sure that once they reached the last house and she could actually remove all of her armor she'd find familiar cuts and bruises that she was able to ignore until she settled down again. Rolling her shoulders with a slight wince, she'd look back over to Galand with a smile. "Do you want some help carrying all of that?" She should have asked earlier since now they were nearly at a spot where he could drop off all they had gathered, but it would have felt rude if she hadn't asked at all.

×××× Galand ◥ | ◤ Drace×××× ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
[ It was beautiful, these moments they spent together. It’s like everyone collectively felt a well of relief when the first house came into view. Rome especially, since it’s her favorite hangout spot. From the distance the pair can see her rooting and jumping in glee. Even turning around to waves her arms at the both of her allies with such a large smile. If one wasn’t aware of her age, you’d think her to be nothing more than a child impatiently waving down her parents to hurry along to a fairground. Cartel is the first to walk up to the entryway and stands next to the door. He drops his luggage to the side and waits for Rome to get close up before offering a simple “Welcome home.” The shorter woman smiles and offers a very out of character curtsy before letting herself inside the building. Galand and Astraea on the other hand have taken their time thus far. Their small talk had somehow endured them all the way here, something which Galand is very happy with.
For him, that means his partner must be getting a lot more comfortable with talking to him openly. She had always seemed to be super nervous before, but now, look at her go! Though, he does give a surprised face when she asks him if he needs help carrying the spoils. He never expected that, even though he should have. But he’s well aware of how much damage she takes during battle, being so adept at stopping attacks--and using her body no less. She may be durable, but damage is damage. And he wouldn’t allow her to be burdened any further than she has been. He speeds up his steps just a bit so he can swing himself in front of Astraea. With his free hand, he gently flicks her forehead and gives her a bit smile instead. “Don’t think I don’t know about how sore you get after every mission. I rely on you a lot during battle, so I need you to let me at least do these things for you.”
With that he’d turn and start to proudly march forward, finally getting that off his chest after who knows how long. He can’t take as much punishment as her, but darn it he can at least carry the luggage! Eventually the two would make it back to the first house, and just like Roma, be welcomed home by Cartel. The rifle toting gentleman follows the pair inside, where they are once again welcome back by another member of the team; Leona. She immediately rushes forward and wraps her arms around the two of them, squeezing them both with her head between theirs. “Welcome home, you two. I'm so happy you came back safely!” Like a big sister, she’d release them and start checking for any wounds--focusing more on Astraea who is known to body damage like a tank. Whereas Galand is generally okay in comparison. Roma leaps up and take the sack of materials from her leader and prances over to the ‘Recording Table’ to keep a log of all of their findings and rewards.
Some other soldiers stand by saluting until given command by Cartel to be at ease, thanking them for their hard work in defending the island. “Another successful job well done. And another step closer to more peaceful world. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HARD WORK!” Galand says with both hands by his side, bending his upper half into a bow. ]

Astraea Tethys
XXX Watching the small girl in the distance begin hopping around and waving excitedly, Astraea smiled, raising a hand to wave back as an indication that she did indeed see her. She wasn't quite sure why, but Roma always loved the first house, and it made the young woman happy to see her enthusiasm. The joy experienced by any member of their group was always welcomed, and at this point she considered many of those in Eden's Dove to be her family. A few moments after she spoke, Galand stepped in front of her and she halted, looking up at him with a confused expression on her face. "Ah?" She took a single step back, blinking several times as she flicked her forehead, tilting her head slightly as he explained himself. She stood still a couple seconds after her leader turned and began marching off again, chuckling quietly to herself. "Yes, sir.."
In the end, the pain she endured in battle was always worth it. It was better that it be her than any of her precious teammates. For whatever reason, she was simply built for it, and she'd never faced anything she hadn't been able to endure. Astraea was more than willing to make frequent doctor visits if it meant she could guarantee the safety of her friends. The Marine followed behind Galand for a bit, her gaze on his back as she considered how familiar this sight was. Not just because she always watched his back to ensure his safety, but because he was always ahead of her anyway. Either in skill or strategy or confidence, it seemed as if she was left watching him from behind. It wasn't a fact she was envious of, just a gap she wanted to close so that she could actually stand beside him as an equal. Maybe then she could actually... As the thought crossed her mind Astraea blushed and shook her head, hurrying after Galand.
Upon reaching the first house, Raea nodded to Cartel with a smile as she stepped inside, about to make a beeline for a chair or couch. However, before either she or Galand could get very far, they were intercepted by Leona, who pulled them into a tight hug. "Hey, Leonaaaah! Ow, ow, ow! You're sq-squishing..!" The embrace was pressing her armor against her skin, aggravating the bruises and cuts that were hidden beneath her garments. Letting out a sigh of relief as she was released, her expression quickly became nervous as she avoided the sharp gaze of their teammate who was glaring at her. "Raea! What did I tell you about taking a shield?! Are you injured again?! Come here!" Thus proceeded their usual chase sequence in which Leona chased the young woman down, poking and prodding at her skin to figure out where she was hurt. "But I need my hands for my Clima-Tact! I-I'm sorry! Please, don't! NoooooOW!"
By now she had been pinned to the floor, Leona sitting on her back to keep in her in place, arms crossed with a light scowl. As Galand spoke up they both turned her attention to him, Leona smiling and nodding in his direction, Astraea doing her best to move her arm so she could salute him. "Thank you, sir!" With this done, Leona glanced down at the woman beneath her once more with a heavy sigh. "Alright, off with the armor. Let's see the damage." Sliding off her so that she could move, Astraea sat up with a slight pout to her lips, whining. "But you're ganna make it sting.." Already Leona had grabbed a basket full of supplies that the blonde had come to despise. "You're damn right it's going to sting! Maybe next time you'll actually listen to me and learn!"
Puffing her cheeks out, Astraea whined quietly but knew better than to not comply, undoing the straps and letting the pieces of her armor clatter to the floor. Rolling up her sleeves, Leona exposed the various wounds causing the young woman to look away, sweating nervously. Small blotches of blood seeped through the garments she wore, dealt by weapons that had pierced her armor or hits that had been hard enough to scrape her skin despite her defenses. Wincing, Astraea occasionally hissed in pain as Leona tended to injuries.
In the meantime, Roma had finished logging all their spoils and was looking between all of the gathered items with her brows furrowed as if trying to choose one. In the hands of pirates they were no doubt dangerous, but here they were the perfect pranking tools! So many materials to work with! For now... Fishing string. A bottle of cola. A safety pin. Yes.... YES. A couple minutes later it was finished. Simple, harmless, and classic. Hopping down from the desk, she would take the refreshment to their beloved leader, holding it out to him with a grin. "Care for a drink?" It looked innocent of course, but the second the man opened it, the mint she had secured under the cap with fishing string would drop into the beverage, causing the liquid to spurt up like a fountain.

×××× Galand ◥ | ◤ Drace×××× ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
[ In Another Time. On Another Mission.
Screams. Roars. Snarls and screeching. From every which way, the cries of men and woman alike fill the skies. Metal clashing and grinding against each other, leaving little room for one’s own thoughts. Red sprays all over, grotesquely running the ground a foreign hue. Staining it for days to come. War. Galand lays on his side brutally injured. Gashes and bruises ruining his body. He grasps his head firmly due to excessive ringing. His vision is blurry and distorted. Almost echoing as he tries to focus it. After coughing up some blood, he reaches out his hand, coincidentally grabbing hold of his blade’s hilt. As if he knew it was there the entire time. The weapon remains plunged in the ground, defiantly refusing to fall. To be a crutch for its master in his weakened state. With all of his power, the marine grips the weapon and fights against his body to come to a stand. He struggles, tilting back and forth, desperately trying to retain some semblance of composure. “...Where…” he starts, glancing back and forth, thinking hard. He’s looking for someone, but who? His eyes begin to shift about now, realizing he stands right in the midst of a battlefield. He violently coughs now, then drops his gaze by chance. Only then does he notice all of the bodies surrounding him, and the large scar imprinted into the earth. That’s when it hits him. Why he’s in this state.
He, Astraea, Leona, and Dist were to end a civil war happening in a country under the World Government’s thumb. Them as the elite soldiers, along with several Vice Captains, and a platoon of regular soldiers. All tasked with securing the continued life of their allies. With their help, negotiations had gone well, until the opposing side launched a sneak attack. Each side was forced to call their men to arms, and all hell broke loose. Almost instantly, as if planned, the leader send by the opposing side held out his arms in glee, smiling with a face more disturbing than anything they had seen before. He revealed it all. The numerous bombs strapped to his body. He was never here to negotiate. He was here to wipe out the leaders of the opposing side all in one swoop. As his body began to glow from the activated bombs, Galand had used his special powers to punch the air, and stop the brunt of the explosion, but the force was so great it broke through regardless. The whole building went up in flames and debris. Several of the leaders were blows away from the blast, and only Galand’s allies, and a few leaders were spared--or so he hopes.
*cough* *cough* “-aea…! Ast… ASTRAEA?! DIST… Ngh…” he fumbles, nearly losing his footing as he tries his best to retain his strength. His ears, even now, rings from the explosion from before. Just how long had be been out for things to be this bad?! “LEONA… one of you… Answer me damn it!” His breathing is ragged and un-patterned. Almost like he’s fighting to breathe as is. To his right he hears the ever approaching clacking of metal grieves, followed by the roar of an armed soldier. Quickly, Galand motions and cleaves over to the man, splitting his chest, forcing him to his knees. He can only watch as the man collapses onto his face. With shaking arms, he catches his breath and begins looking around again. But with the battle, the fires, and the disorienting sounds all around, he can barely maintain consciousness. Just what in the world kind of bombs did that man use?! ]

Astraea Tethys
XXX The fact that the taste of blood was becoming familiar likely wasn't a good sign. The ringing sound in her ears was the first thing Astraea noticed, followed by the throbbing headache, and a sharp, painful sensation in her back every time she shifted. Propping herself up onto her hands, the young woman immediately toppled back over, balance completely thrown off. "Ughh.." She took a moment to spit out the blood in her mouth, weakly bringing her hand to her face to wipe the crimson liquid from it. "Raea... Squishing me.." The quiet voice to her side panicked her enough to give her the energy she needed to jolt up onto her knees, gritting her teeth with the movement as to not cry out. "Leona..?" That's what she thought the voice had sounded like. It was still far away and nearly drowned out by the continuous ringing noise, but it had seemed familiar nonetheless. Astraea's vision blurred, seeing double as she looked down and toward where she had heard the other woman speak, sighing in relief as Leona's form came into focus. "You.. okay..?" As she asked her question, she reached around her back, running her fingers across her armor until she felt what exactly it was that was causing her so much pain. Frowning slightly, she'd spit another mouthful of blood in distaste, tugging lightly at the object that had pierced through her armor and her skin. "Ah.." A quiet hiss left her lips and she winced, only pausing when she felt someone else's hand halt her own.
"Don't do that.. You've got a piece of glass lodged in your back.." Turning her head, Astraea blinked slowly at Dist, squinting her eyes in confusion. "Oh.." Stubbornly she pushed the man's hand away and returned to trying to yank the shard from her skin, bit it was apparently quite a bit deeper and wider than she'd originally thought. "Well.. Leona can just pull it out, then." By now the spear wielder had managed to sit up, thoroughly bruised and scraped up, but very much alive. These had been the two she'd attempted to protect when Galand's shockwave had collided with the man who had set off the bombs. "No, because if I do that, you're going to bleed out." Again, Leona was given the same expression she had looked at Dist with, an exhausted confusion that made her unnaturally calm given the circumstances. "Oh.. Well.. Just burn it shut, then.." The other woman stared in disbelief, looking as if she were contemplating bashing her on the head for having suggested that, but Raea was already removing her Clima-Tact, holding it to her sword to heat up the metal until it began to glow orange.
"Please..? I'll be fine.." There was still so much she had to do. She had to find who was left of the leaders they'd been with. She needed to locate the rest of the Marines they'd been accompanied by, and she had to look for Galand. So she had to stand up and get to it already. "Please! Leona... Am I... still breathing?" Both her comrades sighed as she spoke this, knowing well where she was heading. "Yes, but--" "Dist... Am I still conscious?" "Yes, even so y-" "Then I can still keep going!" Though they certainly would have liked to, the pair simply couldn't find a retort for her words. The woman pushed herself until she could move no longer, and it took a hell of a lot of damage to keep her down. Rubbing her temples, Leona grunted as she forced herself to crawl over behind her comrade, while Astraea handed her sword to Dist. "Sorry, Astraea. This is going to hurt." Grasping the base of the glass shard, she pulled back hard to yank it from her skin, and Raea fell forward, one hand over her mouth to muffle her cries. A second later, a sickening hissing sound mixed with her scream as Dist pressed the burning steel to the woman's wound to cauterize it. Everything went black for a few moments, and she lay panting with her eyes closed as the pain overwhelmed her. And then she got back up.
Brushing the tears from her eyes with the back of her hand, she'd draw in a shaky breath and let it out slowly, wincing at the burning sensations that prickled her back. It was far preferred over bleeding out though. "O-Okay... okay.." She pushed herself to her feet, staggering back a couple of steps as the vertigo from being caught in the bomb blast reared its ugly head once more. Two hands grabbed her shoulders to steady her, Leona and Dist on either side of the woman as she gained her bearings. "Thanks.." She'd smile weakly at them as they marched forward once more to complete their new mission as this had gone from diplomacy to a search and rescue.
By no means was the group in much of a condition to fight, but they managed surprisingly well given the circumstances. All around them were the sounds of a war they had been trying to avoid, battle cries and the sharp clanking of metal against metal. Those foolish enough to believe they might be easy to take down were quickly dispatched by ax, spear, or blade as they walked - or rather, limped - about the battlefield, searching for their lost allies. Every now and then the familiar faces of Marines and Vice Captains popped up, though it was clear to them all that they had suffered casualties. It only took another couple minutes before recognizable fabric caught the young woman's attention and she rushed toward their leader, equal parts relieved and worried.
"Galand!" She'd skid to a halt beside him, wrapping one arm around his side to try to steady him considering how unstable his balance seemed. Immediately she felt her arm become slippery and wet, pulling it away for a second to see that it was stained with blood. "L-Leona!" Like the rest of them, the fact that he was still standing didn't mean that he was well. Looking around, Astraea struggled through the chaos, pulling Galand along with her until she found somewhere safer where she could set him down, sitting beside him and looking between his wound and his face. "Galand?" Snapping her fingers in front of his eyes, concern shook her voice. "H-Hey, don't go to sleep yet, okay?" Swallowing hard, she pressed the fabric of his shirt into his wound, applying pressure to his side to try to stop the bleeding.

×××× Galand ◥ | ◤ Drace×××× ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
[ This was nothing more than the work of nightmares. A terrible battle that should never have come to be. Yet, here it is. And it’s the job of the Doves to put an end to it. But how in the world could they manage such a thing when all of them can barely endure their own injuries. The cruelties of those suicide bombers, the harbingers of war, ruined everything. And with the downfall of peace, too fell Galand. Unbeknownst to him, Astraea had come to his aid, wrapping her arms around his form. But he just can’t tell right from left, nor up from down any further. He just knows someone is there. And with the sudden interruption of his balance by the concerned woman’s grasp, his legs give out for but a moment, forcing him to drop down a bit before bracing himself. His delusions kick in with such a large amount of blood loss. For him, just as usual, he’s at the forefront, protecting his allies for the opposing vanguard. “I-I’ll...break their… I’ll clear us… a pa-” Weakness.
Through his illusioned bravado, he tried to muster up the power for another quake, but the energy leaves his form, and the hypocenter attempting to surround his fist shatters like glass. The man’s consciousness shifts back and forth, forcing him into silence, then back to the horrible sights of the war. Bodies dropping left and right. Anger, roars, blood, fire...Astraea. Wait, Astraea? His golden iris shifts over to get a better look at the woman’s face as she struggles to move him to a safer place. Though silent, he tries his best to register the situation. To his other side is Leona and Dist. All of his friends are here, alive. Injured, but very much alive. He managed to save them after all, at the cost of taking the brunt of the explosion. He smiles weakly as he’s laid onto his backside, coughing up blood. He tries to lift a hand and place it against the side of Astraea’s face, genuinely glad she and the others lived. “...S-Sorry. Looks like...I messed up…” he forces out between coughing and loss of breath.
Leona tries to silence him, worried he’s only stressing his body by talking right now. Pleading for Astraea to quiet him for now. Dist looms over, looking down at the injuries his leader took on for them, before looking at himself. Had Galand not used a quake right when he did, he would’ve died right then and there. The thought sends rage up the man’s soul, but he steels himself in resolution, preparing to slaughter anyone who would dare to approach and interfere. It’s the least he can do, or so he feels. “Gotta...stop this… Gotta save...as many people...as…” he tries speaking, but surges of pain run up and down his body. Shrapnel the size of daggers, all the way down to mere fragments rest in his form, causing him excruciating pain, even more so when Leona tries to remove them. “Astraea dear you HAVE to stop him from speaking! And hold him down! Dist, when the coast is clear, you help as long as you can as well! We must do this as soon as possible or we will lose him!” she commands, taking control temporarily to keep everyone bound together and focused.
In the distance, the sounds of screams and explosions grow louder as the enemy forces launch their sweeping force. Numerous machines piloted by men and women of their cause, each wearing a bombing vest similar to the one from before. Dist stares in disbelief. He looks over his shoulder to Leona’s progression, and Astraea’s focus. “Sorry to ruin the mood, but they’ve got more of those bombs. A friggin’ lot more… Better hurry up, Leona.” he demands, turning his attention back forward and hoisting his brutal looking battle axe over his shoulders. Payback time. ]

Astraea Tethys
XXX As if Astraea hadn't been concerned before, listening to Galand mumble about continuing to fight and watching his attempt to form another hypocenter only heightened her anxiety. While she was certainly glad he hadn't been able to set off another quake, she couldn't recall a time when she'd seen him weak enough to not use his abilities as he wished. Seeing him cough up blood brought tears to her eyes, and she forced herself to smile back at him, raising her hand to support his so he could keep his palm cupped around her cheek. Shaking her head, she used her free hand to gently wipe the blood from his lips with her thumb, settling it against the side of his face as well. "It's okay.. You don't have to apologize.." Blinking, she felt tears spill from her eyes even though she had been trying hard to remain calm for the sake of the rest of the team. But in a situation like this, she couldn't help but feel frightened. Everywhere around them was nothing but blood and screaming and the sounds of conflict, and the Marine didn't know what to do to help. Especially with her leader incapacitated as he was. "You didn't mess anything up.. You saved us." Had Galand not stepped in, the young woman was certain nobody who had been in the room would have survived. As bad as their injuries were at the moment, they would have been fatal without the interference he'd provided. Raising a hand, she lightly flicked his forehead. "Y-You know taking damage like this is my job, right?" Her nervous laugh was immediately followed by her biting her lip and choking down a sob, sniffling and dipping her head against her shoulder to wipe away some of her tears.
To Leona's words she would nod, moving carefully over on top of him so that she could hold him down, attentive to her positioning so that she wouldn't aggravate any of his wounds. She grabbed both of his hands with her own, interlocking their fingers together and holding his arms over his head, her legs on either side of his to hold him in place. Any other time, it would be unlikely that she would have been able to physically overpower him like this, but considering how drained he was at the moment, she was more than capable of restricting his movements. "Shhhh, Galand.. I-It's okay.." Smiling weakly at him, her expression faded as Leona continued to speak and she saw the man beneath her writhe in pain. What did she mean 'lose him'? Certainly she didn't mean there was actually a chance he could die, right? Right? As violent as some of their work could get, Astraea had never lingered on the idea that any of them could fall in battle. After all, they were Eden's Dove! Brilliant! Invincible! Right?! Trembling, she squeezed Galand's hands, blinking rapidly to remove the tears blurring her vision. "D-Don't talk anymore, okay? Just rest.. You did.. You did more than enough s-so trust in your team.." Dipping her head down, she pressed her forehead against his, closing her eyes for a moment. "Please don't die, Galand.. J-Just stay here like this with me.." Any further words he tried to speak would be silenced by her lips pressing against his own.
Dist, in the meantime, was exacting his form of retribution. Injured as he was, he'd had enough time in between waking up and finding their leader to recover and toss himself back into the fray. It had only taken him seeing it once, and he was fairly certain he understood how these bombs worked now. At least, he knew what set them off, and believed himself more than capable of combating those wearing the vests that had caused all the destruction around them. He looked once more to Leona, who was carefully picking and choosing which pieces of shrapnel to remove from Galand and stuffing his wounds to stop the bleeding. Nodding once he turned his gaze back to the battlefield, practically disappearing from anyone's sight if they happened to be watching him. The man knew he wasn't going to be any help there; he didn't have a delicate enough touch for it. No, his talents were better used for cleaving.
With a heavy war cry and a spray of blood, he reappeared atop one of the machines, lodging his weapon into the driver's head. As the contraption crumbled and fell below them, Dist lifted the now limp pilot into the air, setting him down onto the ground so as not to disturb the horrendously powerful bombs strapped to him. Ideally the rest of the solution would be to completely disarm the weapons, but he was no Roma, and there was no time to sit and play with wires. A few minutes later he returned to his group, shaking blood from his ax, splattering the crimson liquid to the ground beneath him. He'd managed to get a few more, but there was still a decent handful armed, and even just one going off would be catastrophic considering how close in proximity they were now. At least some of his bloodlust had been quenched. Looking up briefly from Galand, Leona noticed Dist had three of the vests he'd secured from his kills slung over one shoulder, almost nonchalantly. "W-What are you doing?! Don't bring those over here!!" Blinking a couple times, the man tilted his head, smirking lightly and feigning confusion. "What's the matter, don't like my gifts? I couldn't just leave them on the battlefield." Pale, Leona made wild shooing motions toward the man, clearly still panicked. "And you won't be leaving them over here, either!" Just one of those things going off near them would kill them all, and he had three! "It's not like any of us can disarm them, though. What do you want me to do, throw them in the ocean?"
The question earned a quiet gasp from Astraea, who looked over to her friend and nodded. "Yes, that.. Do that." A hush fell over the group as they exchanged glances, a silent understanding that this was a horrible yet effective plan. "We can stabilize him on the ship. I've done all I can for now." With a nod, Dist pulled his arm back, bombs in his hand, grunting as he tossed the cluster out toward the sea. Pulling Galand's arms together, Raea secured him down again by placing one arm across his wrists, using the other to manipulate the geyser of water that had sprung up from the resulting explosion. It shot forth, splitting around the group as it approached them and continued rushing about the battlefield. It was a tricky balancing act to direct the torrent to smother their opponents while ensuring it moved up and over their remaining allies, and one that was barely just maintained. At the very least her most important jobs were done. Tendrils of water emerged from the circling waves, restricting the movements of those in particular who were armed with the explosives. As if the sea had a mind of its own, the machines were grasped and sucked into its depths, never to emerge again. Clearly strained, Astraea forced the spinning current to fold back on her group, calm at the sight even though it was clear the rest of the group wasn't. "L-Leona, switch.." Moving over, the other woman took her place to restrict Galand's movements, allowing Raea to surround her not so ocean inclined friends in an air bubble as the water came down upon them.
The woman wasted no time pushing the group through the water and back toward their ship, launching them up and onto the deck. The wave they had created was finally settled back into the sea, causing the ship to rock as the energy rippled through the water. Dropping to one knee, the young woman panted as she fought to catch her breath, falling over as the ship's movements knocked her off balance. She was left watching Leona and Dist talking to each other, the latter picking up Galand, settling his body over one shoulder and running off with their medic. Forcing herself to her feet she stumbled after them, darkness tugging at the edges of her vision, her legs threatening to give out as she moved. After a moment she was intercepted by another doctor who had stayed aboard the ship, and pushed back into a chair. "Leona said...here.. your wounds." Though the man was speaking clearly, she only heard bits and pieces as she faded in and out of consciousness. Despite her body begging for rest, she couldn't comply until she knew if everything was fine. At the very least she was compliant with the man tending to her wounds, occasionally nodding off as she waited for Dist or Leona to come back.
It wasn't clear how long had passed before Leona returned to her side, a light smile on her face. "You did a good job, dear. And Galand will be fine, we stabilized him." Closing her eyes, Astraea breathed a sigh of relief, standing up and hugging her friend tightly. Despite everything, they'd all made it through this. "Th-Thank you.." A couple minutes later, she'd pulled a chair up next to Galand's bedside, smiling tiredly down at him. Settling one hand on top of his, she rested her head against the side of his bed and closed her eyes, silent for a few moments before whispering what she had on her mind. ".. love you... Galand.." Though she had intended to stay awake until he was conscious again, it only took a couple of seconds to fall asleep beside him.

×××× Galand ◥ | ◤ Drace×××× ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
[ From that day, there are so many gaps in his memory. Galand can only recall a few things in fact; The explosion, his friend’s panicked faces, and the touch of Astraea’s lips against his own. After that, everything is a blank. Inside their ship, his eyes slowly begin to open up, nearly blinded by the light of the sun breaching the window. After everything focuses, and he can properly see, he turns his head to stare out at the scenery from the window, taking in the beauty of the ocean shimmering under the rays of light from above. “...Oh. Guess it’s over.” he says, commenting on how they’re sailing away now. The others must have ended things while he was unconscious. After turning his head back he eyes the ceiling and stares for quite a few seconds. Just what in the world was he doing, letting things escalate to that point. If it were Roma or Celty, they definitely could have disengaged that problem before it escalated any further.
“I gotta get stronger.” he whispers while trying to move his arm, only to have it lightly brush against something.
Nearly startled, he looks over, and notices Astraea next to him in a chair, sleeping by his arm. His eyes widen at first, wondering if she had been there this whole time. But, he’s glad she’s there. Her presence alone calms him down, and assures him that if he did one thing on that island, it was protect his friends. With a smile, he lifts his hand and gently strokes her head. “I’d like to think that, but in the end it was you who saved me wasn’t it, Raea? Thank you…” he says ever so quietly as to not disturb her sleep. He continues petting her for a few seconds more until the sound of a shutter startles him. He looks around until he notices the door cracked open, and Leona standing there with a Camera Den Den in her hands, absolutely flushed with a blush. “Oh don’t mind me! Keep going! This is absolutely adorable!” she says, having not any sense of restraint, being a sucker for these touching moments.
Dist lifts the woman up by the back of her collar and looks through the doorway, giving Galand a eye glint thumbs up. “Not bad back there.” And then the two head off. Galand can only stare in both shock and disbelief. Did they see all of that? No...did they HEAR all of that?! The embarrassment sets in, and he grabs the sides of his head in a blush. He had thought they were alone darn it! ]

Astraea Tethys
XXX Even though it wasn't the most comfortable way to sleep, Astraea rested soundly through the night, exhausted from the day's events. It was only when she started hearing the faint voices of her friends speaking to one another that she started to stir, opening her eyes slightly before squeezing them shut once more. "Noooo... Too bright..." Groaning quietly, she mumbled the words against the sheets of the bed, tucking her face back under her arm. "...adorable!" The woman didn't hear much more from Leona after that, except her light, joyous laughter fading away. At some point she was sure she'd heard Dist say something, too, but she hadn't caught it. "Give me.. five more minutes.. Lee.." Still half asleep, she yawned, attempting to open her eyes again, blinking rapidly as she adjusted to the sun in the room. It took a couple seconds to place where she was exactly, considering this was not the room she usually slept in when they traveled. Realizing her location, Astraea gasped and sat up quickly, looking to the man she'd been sleeping beside, her concerned expression changing to one of surprise upon seeing him awake.
Breathing a sigh of relief, she leaned back in her chair for a moment, closing her eyes and smiling. Leona had been right, of course, he really was fine. "I'm glad to see that you're awake. You really scared me, you kn-" She cut off as she opened her eyes and took note of his expression, embarrassed and flushed. 'C-Cute..' Ah, wait, why was he blushing?! "W-What's wrong? Did something happen?" She looked frantically between Galand and the rest of the room, looking for a culprit, but there was nobody else but them. "D-Did I do something?! S-Sorry!" She held up both hands as if she were surrendering, guilty of something she wasn't aware she'd done. Though now that she was thinking about it, not only had she fallen asleep next to him, she'd kissed him the day before. Her face grew hot as she blushed, looking away from the man for a moment. "If this is about yesterday u-um, I'm really sorry! L-Leona told me to keep you quiet a-and I c-c..." Unable to finish, she buried her face in her hands to hide her embarrassment. At the time, she couldn't come up with any better idea. She'd had a task to complete, she was terrified of losing him, and truthfully she'd wanted to kiss him for a while now.
But still, what if he hadn't liked it?! It's not like he had been lucid enough to reciprocate or not, so what if he thought she was just weird or creepy now?! "Sorry, sorry, sorry! I-It won't happen again! Unless you want it t- ahh! - n-no I mean, s-sorry, it won't!" Why, every time she opened her mouth around him, did her words have to come out like this?! Mortified, she stood up abruptly from the chair, wincing slightly at the faint sensations of pain and soreness she felt with the action, refusing to meet Galand's eyes. "Anyway, I-I'm going to get breakfast! H-How do you feel? Do you want s-something?"
