When the gods were born of the crystals, they were gifted a barren place in the multiverse, devoid of life and form, and bidden to create. The goddess of Light and God of Darkness came together to forge a new world, but being very young, they sought worlds born of the gods before them -- worlds born of crystals and of light and darkness. The witnessed many places, and when they returned hone, they began a great work. Spiritus game the world form; earth, water, the unpredictable elements of weather. Materia, a goddess of light, gave the world plants and animals, and brought traces of other lands to the world. The pair were pleased, but saddened. There were none to enjoy the animals. They bore no mortals, unlike so many others, no men sang of them, and in despair, they parted, each blaming the other.
And then there was a spark of hope. The Crystals tyhat bore the gods witnessed their dispair and reached across the multiverse, questioning the others. Why were their children saddened? What could the Crystals do? And then, there was an answer.
The Manikins occupied the Rift. Born of man, they imitated the greatest warriors of the mortals across worlds, but there was one manikin that ascended past a crystal doll.
That manikin was the vaunted Warrior of Light. Imbued with purpose and a base for a soul, he became a champion of the Light, and in time, from his experiences, he became a true human -- a spark of hope for all. Pleased, the Crystals that bore the young gods reached to them -- and told them of the Manikins existing in the Rifts. While the gods might take them and imbue life, they lacked the power to truly gift them a human identity. But there was hope in the humans and spoken tribes of mortals in the multiverse -- for a mortal need not fight to teach and a mortal need not be a perfect adult to learn and so, it was decided the gods could claim manikins of the Rift and gift them a spark of life, and summon mortals to teach them and guide them to their own lives, and identities, and more, to fill the world with living beings. After the two gods independently summoned these first mortals, there came another being -- a moogle named Mog. He claimed to be a servant to the gods and devoted to helping guide the Manikins to a mortal life. While the moogle guided the first mortals, there was no telling where he came from, or why he came to help. However, it seemed, the forces of Materia and Spiritus had yet to find one another...

Stages
Manikin A crystalline, doll-like being, a manikin is the first form of anyone. While the manikins can talk, they have been stripped by Mog of their old copy's looks by and large to help facilitate the process of becoming human. Gifted free will and true sentience, Manikins are often curious if not flighty beings who seek to learn and absorb as much knowledge as they can. Best get them to understand morality while they're still listening to everything!
Simulacrum When manikins become more adjusted to mortality, they begin to look less crystalline and more organic, but very simple. They retain small handfuls of traits from the person they came from (blue eyes or light hair) but are still soaking up knowledge and learning who they want to be. They're no longer crystalline, instead caught in a point between rocklike and organic and tend to dress very simply. Sometimes though, someone messes up the process and the simulacrum stays looking a lot like the original person they were a copy of. Or the manikin is just flipping stubborn.
Mortal Congratulations, your manikin is fully formed and has become a human being/spoken/LIVING PERSON. They generally grasp what their world is, have a chosen task in life, and they might even start looking to form a family. At this point they can also adopt newly recovered manikins, to teach, raise, and love as a family of their own. Aren't you a proud parent?
Crystal Bearer
Sometimes, a mortal is dedicated to living their life according to Materia or Spiritus. They remain warriors and will feud to prove their loyalty. Those whom perform great feats may, like the First the Warrior of Light, become Crystal Bearers -- champions of Light or Chaos. These heroes may enter the Rift directly without intercession of Meteria or Spiritus. Only by entering the Rift may they directly bring new Manikins to the world.

F.A.Q.
COSPLAYS?
Cosplays are possible. I want this made perfectly clear first. While Dissidia is only Square/Final Fantasy characters, manikins here can be any cosplay... BUT WITH ACATCH. Cosplays need to be acquired in cosplay slots and are not exclusive. So two of a cosplay canexist as long as they look different enough, because personality/headcanons vary with the winds. This means if you have an AU of Flowey then sure go for it (Why you want a flower IDK though. Why do you hate flowers?)
Are they all templated?
Currently no. Only Manikens are and they're SUPPOSED to be thus -- very basic, simply due to being stripped down a bit by Mog to help them become living beings.
My manikin doesn't want to fight, must they? No, they do not, they're free from being... Well... Mannequins for someone toi tool with. Moooostly.
Who is Mog?
A one and a two and a GOOD KING MOGGLE MOG, GOOD KING MOG, RULES WITH IRON HAND (KUPO!)... OK but really Mog is Mog. We just play that for a lark when he's away.
So it's mostly OCs? Are cosplays only Final Fantasy? OCs bueno!.... No, not just Final Fantasy. Please don't drown us in Sanses. Or let Xehanoirt Nort everybody COME ON.
Do we all help Materia? Nah. Spiritus has his minions, Materia has hers. Do they get along? No, not really all the time. Those that do tend to sytay out of the bigger conflicts.
I want an army! How many can I own? An army. :B
Can they make babies?[ I'm gonna say, yes, with a but. No RPing the do and only manikins get art. Welcome to the Adoption Option. Any small wormchildren grow like normal human kids in real time. Welcome to the jungle, we got fun and games...
Do they ALL become human? Some will become Lalafell or Taru Taruon the "short, cute, chibi" scale, others might be Elezen, some might turn out Lunarian, and yet others might be Viera or Miqo'te and the like. Usually it depends on the base. Those will expand as time goes on.
Will gender rules break for races like Viera? Cultural rules don't hold true, so male Viera might be outside the woods, male Miqo'te are DEFINATELY gonna happen-- basically because the culture isn't there, the gender rules aren't there. Besides, not every manikinidentifies straight male or female. Some might be third gender, no gender, genderfluid, ETC.
My OC is a fan character, may I quest them?
YES. I do ask they don't have the powers of the 7 dragonballs or fuse with Sonic, Knucles, Tsails, Shadow, Rogue, ETC into Super Hyper Mega Jesus Whatever, ETC though. So you know, general common sense -- strengths and weaknesses need to be believeable and actual, on top of flaws. So yes, you can be cripplingly nice if you give so much you ******** your life over regularly, or you can have a servant of Materia that keeps getting drunk because they decided boozeahol was The Bomb -- you just can'ty have Super Hyper Death Mega Ultra Jesus Sanic or something on that tier.
Can I play my avatar? Y E S but your main focus is the manikin you're taking care of -- or manikins. Outsiders weren't chosen for combat talent -- though your manikins were all spawned of the essence of warriors. And fluffy warriors. Imean really what do you hecking call Cecil Harvey COME ON.
I don't want to play my avtar can I play someone else?
You can play a human if you want, though this does mean you can do a self insert or something equally fun.
Can I DATE my manikins?
Manikins you play should really not date you, but they can date another player once mortal. -LOUD SHRUG- This is mostly to avoid anything super weird or creepy.
Well who can my manikin date? Other manikins. Most manikins are adults or treated as becoming mortal at a legal age, so it's really encouraged to stick to adults for adults. Keep it PG-13 and legal, for the love of all sacred things.
Do cosplays begin as the cosplay in Manikin form? Not always. For example you might begin with a Golbez that turns into say, All Might, or a Warrior of Light that turns into Kefka. Who knows.
If two Mortals adopt a Manikin can Mog help them ensure it resembles their child?
You know what? I have no freaking clue. Y&UO MOG.... ... Uh huh... Uh huh... The answer is yes. Let the crackfest begin.
What are Manikins made of? Manikins are crystal constructs. Their bodies are crystal. Their clothing is formed of the same crystal. Their entire being is a crystal not found in the universe but rather made from crystals in the Rift of unknown proiperties.
Hey who made Manikins? GOOD KING MOGGLE MOG GOOD KING MOG, RULES WITH IRON HAND (KUPO!)...
Is Spiritus or Materia bad?
No, neither is naturally evil or good, wholly. They're very young gods though and don't quite know WTF they're doing in the world. They're simply different -- Spiritus is born of a fark crystal, Materia is born of a light crystal. Mog is Mog is GOOD KING MOGGLE MOG GOOD KING MOG-- er sorry.
I want aCrystal Bearwer!
And I want fiddy bucks but you don't see that magically farting into my pocket. But a Crystal Bearter is a special stage that takes not only RP but a plot proposal. They're really powerful, special, and unique snowflakes.
So what's the difference between manikins?
Materias summons manikins of heroes known for goodness and the Light. Her bases are people like Cecil Harvey, Terra Branford, Bartz, Firion, or for non Final Fantasy folk, people like Sora, Deki, Naruto, ETC. Spiritus is more chaotic prone and summons manikins rooted in Kefka, Sephiroth, Golbez, or for non Final Fantasy nerds, people like Xehanort, King Candy, or even Orochimaru. Both however may pull in Manikis of more neutral folks if they feel there's balance -- Shantotto, or Bakugo, for examples.
Do abilities pass after Manikin form?
It depends. Basic spells like Cure, Medica, or Esuna or basic offense like Fire, Blizzard, Stone, and Aero are more likely to pass on to the next stage, but except in some cases spells like Holy, Meteor, or Ultima must be relearned. However, race-noted abilities may remain -- Lunarians are empathic telepaths, for example, and some races are more magically inclined.
What Races are currently there? Curtrently it's a Lalafell/Taru Taru (they're pretty similar), human, or humanoid. This will grow as time goes.
Art style here seems really in flux. Sometimes I'm experimenting, sometimes, another artist is -- styles need not match so much as and so long as the whole group has fun!
Other artists? Are you hiring?
Always Hiring Artists. Always
HEY this isn't like Dissidia as I know it! I wish to throw Opera Omnia at your face. And then add, to avoid too much Dissidia footstamping, I felt an AU better, with our own lore based on Dissidia. That doesn't mean we won't have pokes though.
