She was just a small town girl. Living in a lonely world. And she took a mid day carriage to---here. It might as well been nowhere.

Bahjat clutched the straps on her backpack as she looked at the school. It was....large. Bigger than her dad's farm house. Bigger than any other building that she had ever been to. Why'd she have to go to school? How was she going to get a good nights rest in an unfamiliar place? The kumiho swallowed the lump that war forming in her throat.

School was scary.

The little freshling stared in awe as other nightmares as big as her passed by, running to and fro. She was going to get trampled here! But wait---Purple eyes zoned in on another freshling. They...they weren't scared? "U-Uhm, hi!" She peered up at the other nightmare nervously, biting her lip. "My name's Bahjat." The girl waddled a few steps closer, nearly touching the other, more austere looking freshling. Scary. "Do you know how to get inside?"

Birkita hated the beginning of the school year. Everyone rushing back and forth. She had just this year left before it was time to move on. She couldn't wait. The freshling classes were getting boring, there wasn't a challenge anymore. And she was feeling... restless. Restless as though she was staying still too long.

She was ready to go barrage Liv for a messy and unkempt dorm when... someone approached her. And didn't stop. Until they were very close. She stumbled back a few steps, frowning. "Through the doors," she replied dryly. Did she really have to deal with this right now? Chewing her lip, she considered the other freshling before deciding she could at least make nice. "I'm Birkita. Are you new here?"

"The doors?" The kumiho spun around in a circle, soon getting dizzy. Where were the doors. "I---I don't see any." Maybe she was in the wrong place. Were the portals to rosebud still open? The carriage still there? Tears started to rise up to her eyes, voice becoming wet. She knew school wasn't her thing! She didn't need it. "Can you take me there?!" Was that too much to ask? Probably.

boy, she missed her daddy's tail.

Bahjat nodded, blinking furiously. "Never been to the city before." her voice quivered, jumping as a senior brushed against her back. Why couldn't there be a school in rosebud?!

W-was the freshling about to cry?! Birkita stared, shocked. She didn't know how to deal with this. The others that she was forced to be around didn't get teary eyed. Staring, Birkita tried desperately to think of a way to keep this Bahjat from crying. No use. She couldn't think of anything. She then looked around, eyes scanning for a teacher. There was any.

"Don't cry, I can take you there!" she told her earnestly, confused by her own reaction. She grabbed her hand, as well; Lilly seemed to cheer up considerably when holding her hand, after all. Never been to a city before? Birkita eyed her, wondering.

Bahjat blinked a few times before trying to wipe her eyes with a strong sniffle. "O-Okay." She wasn't going to try. Try being the key word. It was so hard to stop when she started. She sniffed, digging her palm into one of her eyes. "'m sorry." So much for making a good impression to the only person that she knew here.

Sudden dread washed over her body, sinking like a rock in her stomach. She was alone. Her papa couldn't be here to save her.

The hand that caught her own made her off guard, making her stare at the other nightmare in confusion. She---liked her? Bahjat's lower lip trembled and she nodded frantically, clutching the fingers tightly. "Please." The kumiho scooted close to her. Any closer and she was probably going to be glued to the other nightmares side.

Birkita sighed, holding onto that hand, though she tensed as the kumiho moved closer. Was she about to cry again? Birkita thought they moved past this already! But... scolding her really wouldn't work, would it? Sure, it worked on Lilly. But Lilly didn't seem to cry at the drop of a hat.

Or at all.

The freshling sighed again before beginning to tug the clingy freshling along. "Come on, the door is over there. Did you get your room number yet?" she asked, while mentally rescheduling when she would do her homework. So close to graduating but now she had to put it off for this new sort of annoying.

P-p-pulling?! Bahjat stumbled, nearly falling into the other freshling that she just met. Oh no, that wouldn't make a good impression, would it? Never had the kumiho ever think about making a good impression on someone but...who else did she know here? What if this one was going to be the only freshling that she knew in school? What if she didn't like her and started spreading rumors and then everyone hated her?! Bahjat's mind whirled, her vision spinning.

What--How did someone make friends?!

First, the door. Of course. Bahjat nodded and tried to keep the pace, although her little feet twisting and brushing against each other. "Room number...204? I think?" The number sounded familiar. "I have it in my backpack, do I need to take it out?" She reached behind her, trying to grab at her backpack with much difficulty. Darn her clumsy fingers!

Birkita paused, letting her dig in her backpack. "Don't fall," she mumbled, looking impatiently at the large clock at the front of the school. No classes today but studying would definitely be cancelled at this rate.

So instead of worrying about missing her precious homework time, she focused on the kumiho, fully getting a look at her new companion. She supposed the other freshling would be considered adorable. Except, they cried too much. And crying was troublesome. Would she never be able to escape troublesome people? “Have you found it yet?” she asked, a tad impatiently as she stepped closer to peer in the bag and see if she could spot it.

Don't fall. Don't fall. Don't fall. Bahjat repeated the line as if it was the only thing that was keeping her up and yanked her backpack off of her to better riffle through the mess that was within. Where was that paper? She thought it was in here. "S-Sorry." she nearly blubbered as she started pulling out pens, pencils, cute sticky notes, fuzzy little stuffed animals, and a whole array of other things that wasn't the slip of paper that she needed. Soon she had a pile that was probably as big as the backpack. Man, how was she going to stuff everything back in?!

"I found it!" she took the very crumpled piece of paper in her hand and thrusted it towards the other freshling with one hand. Her other hand was busy trying to stuff her backpack back with the large assortment of knick knacks and toys. "I think I got it right." Although she wasn't too sure on her numbers...or reading....The other freshling should know! Hopefully.

Birkita stared as that pile grew and grew and grew. How did so many things fit in that bag? And half of them were utterly useless! Probably wouldn't ever be used! She had half the temptation to grab the nearest trashbag and start sorting through this mess. This was worse than Lilly. Probably because Birkita could intervene but still.

Grimacing, she grabbed the very crumpled paper, trying to smooth it out as best she can as she read over it. 208. Right. "You got it wrong," Birkita told her blandly as she watched all the junk go back into the backpack. This was painful to watch. "Come on, I'll show you the way," she sighed, turning around to head towards the door. The clingy freshling would probably follow. If not, oh well.

Bahjat stared desperately at Birikita. She got it wrong? The kumiho bit her lips, anxiousness gnawing at her brain. "I'm sorry." Now this girl really wasn't going to want to be her friend. Bahjat stiffened her shoulders at the thought. How was she going to survive if she didn't have any friends?!

But she was willing to show her the way. Bahjat nodded and fumbled with her bag, halfway zipping it up. It was good enough. "Show me the way." She slug the backpack on her shoulder haphazardly, not caring that a pencil just fell. Maybe...Maybe Birikita will still be her friend. Only time would tell.
