If there was one thing she learned about her existence so far, it was that she had to look at the bright side where she could find it. Not having memories of her life time prior, yeah, a bummer, but the bright side: trying out anything new was an adventure, not bogged down by any prejudices or preconceived notions. She rolled with it, and today, up while the sun was out for once, her adventure was in a garden store.
Gardening seemed like a nice hobby to get into.
On the internet, people were currently crazy about cacti and succulents, and doing a bit of reading prior, it was said they were somewhat easy to take care of. Seemed like a good start. With Pyrophanite's heat lamp room, too, if anything needed heat and light, hopefully it'd be covered! Knot tapped a finger on her lips as she stared at the shelves of little cacti and succulents. There were so many, and they all came in such funky shapes but...
She wanted a bit of advice from someone who knew what they were doing...
The woman glanced down one end of the aisle. No one. She glanced down the other and ah! While he didn't seem to be an employee, one look at the items he was toting around told her he meant serious gardening business. "Excuse me~" She called out to the man with the red hair. "Would you happen to know anything about cacti and succulents?"

The peek of summer was well on it's way and Noah had been carefully cultivating his backyard to be ripe for his garden. The gifted plants from his birthday had been planted and were being nursed with as much love as someone like Noah Jones had to give. Which, wasn't a lot if you were a person, but if you were a plant and you were part of his garden...
Well he had a lot of gardening love to plant around.
But it also meant that he took his plant father duties very seriously and since he didn't have any pressing jobs, he'd ventured to the store to pick up a couple of supplies.
He needed new gloves, because his old ones barely survived the move and he was tired of muddy fingers. A new set of shears to threaten his spouse keep things trimmed without damaging the base and a few other things.
Noah was even contemplating a tree or two for his first attempts at grafting because they didn't live in a seedy shithole anymore but growing his own produce was preferable.
In fact, he was weighing his options and making notes on his phone when someone dared to talk to him. Stormy eyes flicked up and his brow crinkled when his lips pressed thinly together. Did he look like he worked at the store?
Ready to brush her off he retorted, "all cacti are succulents but not all succulents are cacti," in a very dry voice before attempting to move on.lucyal Noah's knot in the mood for this

Oh. Knot's pleasantly curious and inquiring expression didn't falter at the rather short and brusque answer. No, if anything, the response had her smiling even wider. Oh, yes. There was something about surly men that just delighted her...which was honestly just odd, but she wasn't going to try and deny it. "Fair." She replied. "You answered my question. I should have been more specific, and that was my bad. Do you know anything about caring for cactis and succulents? This is my first time. You could say I'm green, but not, you know, gifted with green thumbs." She couldn't help but smirk now at that very bad pun.

Noah's lips pressed into a thinner line, if that was even possible.
"Do you always bother strangers for your questions? I don't work here, find someone else who is paid to deal with ask nonsensical questions about." The items in his arms were shifted and he waved a hand dismissively, expecting that to be the end of it.
The pun even went over his head for a moment before it hit him and his eyes narrowed like his scowl could get any scowly.
"There's this thing called google, utilize it."

She was rolling. On the inside. Oh no. Oh no. Why did this feel like an odd sense of Deja Vu and why did she feel qualified to handle it? Why was she so amused? For a brief moment, it looked like Knot was done, because she turned to the shelf of cacti and succulents, and looked through them. That was only to select one though. The woman carefully pulled out one cactus in its little pot, and then held it up, so that, in her view, she could see the little cactus and Noah side by side. She looked at Noah. Looked at the cactus. Looked at Noah, looked back, and then focused back on Noah with a grin. "I can't tell the difference! Both so prickly."

Noah was, rightfully, wary of the woman when she turned her back without another word but he wasn't going to stick around longer than he was forced to. Unfortunately he had paused a moment too long because she was turning, blocking his path to the registers while holding up a ruby ball cactus and having the audacity to compare him to it.
And she made another pun to go along with it.
Which, in his opinion, had her sense of humor as dry as the desert settings cacti flourished in.
"Are you finished?" He remarked, both dry and unamused. "Move."

"Unfortunately for you, no." She replied cheerfully, and held onto the cactus more naturally now, instead of holding it out. "And you didn't add a 'please' to that, so I'm less inclined to move." Knot pointed at the cactus. "But seriously, any quick tips? Please?" She nodded her head to what he was going to purchase. "Doing a quick read of your items tells me you know some stuff, and I'd rather have the word of someone in the flesh who knows what they're doing than google." Just seemed like a more reliable thing, in her opinion.

No.
That was the one word she said that seemed to get any real reaction from him. It came in the form of a shake of his head and a roll of his eyes. He was quite ready to shove her out of his way or to even discard the things he had picked up and simply leave the store but he was already there and he had a whole list that he intended to check off before the day was done.
An annoying woman was a setback but one he thought he could push past.
"Do you always force yourself on people?" He snapped, teeth grinding before he shook his head.
"Don't overwater, you'll kill the thing if you don't give it dry spells between waterings. Also don't be the idiot who touches the spine and then complains about the pain." He stared at her blankly after, expecting her to move out of his ******** way.

"No." She replied, beaming at him. "I only save it for special people such as yourself." Though, she was somewhat surprised when he did give her some actual information. Surprised, but then pleased. "Alright!" Knot replied in acknowledgement, glancing down at the little cactus in her hand. She supposed she was actually going to get it now. The thing had such a fun memory attached to it! How could she...knot. The woman grinned at that last bit of snarky advice, and she reached and made a show of poking his arm. " Ow." Ha, because you know, it was funny because she was touching a 'cactus' and he had 'spines'. Knot withdrew her hand, but continued the more serious line of questioning. "Does it need any special soil or nutrients? Will I eventually need to put it in a new pot?"

"Lucky me," Noah replied flatly.
Most of the time his prickly attitude kept people the ******** away and he had to wonder what kinda ******** up childhood this chick had if she was into dudes with foul mouths and attitudes.
She probably had daddy issues, because what girl didn't seem to these days?
When she poked him he swatted her hand away. "Probably." Shoulders lifted in a shrug when he glanced at that ridiculous thing in her hands. "I don't deal with such, simple," a sneer was attached to that word, "plants. Killing a cactus is nearly impossible. Now I answered questions, move."

The disdain he had for cacti. She laughed. She couldn't help it. It was just too funny. "Alright." She replied, chock full of mirth. "I believe you when you say it's a hardy plant." Sounded like it was a winner, then. Surprisingly, the woman did move to the side to that Noah could get by. It was done with some fanfare though, of course. The woman swept her free arm out towards the the direction of the cash register like she was presenting the grand prize of a brand new car on a game show. Except... Once Noah moved by her, he'd find that she was following him to the cash register.

Not for the first time during their interaction had Noah regretted that he'd been determined to see his purchase soon. The longer the seconds ticked by, the more he began to realize that the woman was into whatever he was dishing out and he couldn't decide how he felt about such things.
He said nothing more to her even when she moved, opting to shove past her if she stood to close to him and headed straight for the self check out, items being scanned carefully and efficiently.
When he realized she was practically attached to him he looked over, irritably.
"Space. Ever heard of it?" He snapped, knowing from their brief interaction that she didn't care to respect personal space boundaries. "There are other ******** registers you can use, buy your cactus elsewhere."
He turned to enter in his reward's member number, his name flashing across the display before he finished his scanning and got read to pay.

"Yeah, I have, actually." Knot replied, patting one of her jacket pockets as she stood right behind him in line. She found where she had some cash tucked away. "It's a a continuous area or expanse that is free, available, or unoccupied, and it's not here." She couldn't help but look to see how much his purchases would be, and that's when she was treated to a bit of delightful information. "Noah, eh?" She echoed, grinning. "I Noah guy who hates cacti, and I also Noah cacti that's getting named." Knot placed the said cacti down on the register counter so that it could be scanned next once the cashier was finished with the man before her. She pointed at it. "That's Noah Jr. Prickly. Just like his name sake."

He was half tempted to shove her off but the fact that they were being eyed by the self-checkout attendee prevented him from doing such. Causing a scene wasn't worth the possible police squabble.
There were several responses on the tip of his tongue that he wanted to spike her with, but he refrained and merely swiped his card, took his receipt and grabbed his bag of things.
"Cute," he said in a way that implied he didn't think it was cute at all.
He moved on, intending to exit as quickly as possible because <******** this.

She just laughed again. " Bye Noah~" Was her sing song response, and she wasn't bothered by the confused looking cashier. Her little cactus was scanned, paid for, and then she was walking out of the store carrying it in hand. It'd be a great little memento of the encounter...she'd sure smile every time she looked at it.
