Right in the heart of Yorknew City is one of the country’s largest manmade parks. Visible from the skies above, the patch of green is a stark contrast to the bleak grey concrete jungle that surrounds it. The gardens span across 1200 acres (~5 square kilometers) and is a major popular tourist attraction, with nearly a hundred million visiting annually. There is a central pond that is large enough for visitors to fish and boat, and for those that wish to dip their feet in there are several small but popular beaches scattered throughout the park itself. Also within the park is a botanical garden – a massive glass dome which has free entry and is a popular wedding photo destination. The park is open to the public from 6am to 11pm.

[ x ][ x ][ x ]:: Jᴀᴍꜱ ɪᴍᴀɢᴇᴅ :: Aᴛᴛɪʀᴇ Central Yorknew Garden :: Lᴏᴄᴀᴛɪᴏɴ ꜱᴘᴏɪʟᴇʀ :: Iɴᴠᴇɴᴛᴏʀʏ
The sun was just about to set by the time Veronif found her way from Inkwell to the Central Garden of Yorknew. She had felt the dull buzz of the alcohol settling in her system as she made her way on foot, but by the time she trekked through the city all traces of booze had been cleared from her system, along with the guilt of her abrupt departure from the random Hunter that bought her drinks. Looking at her watch, the girl pondered whether or not she would make it in time before the park was closed to the public. Most of the time the public security officers were lenient and let people come and go as they pleased, regardless of the park hours. She figured the security measures were really only there to stop the homeless from setting up camp in one of the most popular tourist spots in the city.
Veronif approached the northern entrance of the park with only fifteen minutes to spare. Stopped at the gate by the park security officer, Veronif had no choice but to play the Hunter card as she flashed her ID to the woman. ”This is part of the investigation, I’m going to need to search the perimeter.” She assured the woman, tipping the brim of her ballcap as she walked past.
She strolled down the park path, following it deeper as it snaked and forked. This was a path she’d known by heart – ever since she could remember, Veronif always would go to ‘her’ spot in the park, with a big oak tree that she could climb to the top and relax in. By the time she was twelve years old, Veronif would even go at night, just to watch the sunsets from a fairly decent vantage point.
Climbing it as an adult was so dramatically different than climbing it as a child. Like most things in life, things became much easier with time. It only took a single leap for Veronif to reach the first branch, and with a pull-up here and a swing and grab there, Veronif was already half way up to the top. Thick and sturdy, the tree supported the entirety of the girl’s weight as she climbed, even as the branches got thinner and thinner towards the apex. At the top, Veronif straddled the branch she was sitting on, and leaned her back against the trunk as she let out a sigh of relief. Her arms were a little sore from the climb, but it was all worth the effort. She watched with a smile as the sun finally began to sink below the horizon, her view only partially obstructed by the skyscrapers that surrounded the Yorknew Garden.
With the light dimming more and more, he would make his way towards the area. He didn't know about the previous hunter that was there. However, that would change once he made it to the entrance. The security guard was on his bumper at the jump. They didn't want to let him in at all. Looking at the guard, he rolled his eyes. "Bro, I trying to help you. So help me, help you. I need to save all my energy for what I may find. I don't need you to be wasting my energy. Now you can let me in. Or we can get it cracking. What do you choose?" Axon stated with no hesitation as he started to bounce on his ankles. A commotion he was starting and security were surely happy to beat his a**. However, they would notice something drop out of his pocket. It was a hunter I.D. Looking at it, they made an a** of themselves and assumed he was there for the investigation with Veronif. Letting him in, he would make a "tsk" sound in annoyance as he walked by security. With his I.D. in hand, he would put it back into his pocket before looking around. "If I was a beast. Would I be here? Probably not. Still, I could look" he whispered, making dialogue with himself. It was something that he did from time to time.
Turning to his left, he would start to head down a path that would lead to one of the beaches. "Hmmph. I guess this isn't as bad as I thought. Still no beasts here. Maybe they are in the water?" he questioned. Or, was this a plot to find some women to hit on? Always gotta analyze all the possibilities. However, he wasn't there earlier. If he was there during the day it would make more sense. He truly was there to find beasts and get stronger. The issue was there wasn't any so far. At the same time, he didn't really try looking. He has only been there a few minutes. He also, wasn't the smartest person in the world so he probably needs some guidance. If he had some guidance he probably wouldn't even be in Yorknew. Let alone a popular attraction like this garden. Taking off his shirt, he would tuck it into his pants and have it drape like a towel of a football player, but it was draped behind his back favoring more towards his right cheek. Now shirtless, he would leave the beach area and walk on the park path, going deeper into the garden. "Beasts? Are there any beasts here!" he would yell. Yeah, Axon was definitely not the smartest person.

[ x ][ x ][ x ]:: Jᴀᴍꜱ ɪᴍᴀɢᴇᴅ :: Aᴛᴛɪʀᴇ Central Yorknew Garden :: Lᴏᴄᴀᴛɪᴏɴ ꜱᴘᴏɪʟᴇʀ :: Iɴᴠᴇɴᴛᴏʀʏ
When the sun finally completed its descent and the veil of speckled darkness conquered the skies, the Gardens seemed to echo in the tranquility that was the night time. Veronif stretched her arms out, releasing a jaw-cracking yawn before making her way down the tree. Branch by branch, Veronif carefully maneuvered her way down, jumping and swinging where appropriate before she reached a good enough height to just jump without the fear of breaking her legs in the process. Landing on two feet, the girl proceeded to dust herself off and stretch once again. ’Man…’ She thought as she grabbed the back of her neck with her right hand and began to massage her neck gently. ’I’m getting to old for this or something… why does everything suddenly feel so tight?’
The area was mostly empty by now, with security having swept most of the tourists out. She knew that with her Hunter ID, she could probably keep loitering in the park if she so decided, but there didn’t seem to be much to do anyways. As she began her stroll through the park, the echoing voice of a man shouting for beasts was just loud enough to break the girl’s concentration. Genuinely curious now, the girl began to make her way in the same direction.
Cutting through the garden as she strayed away from the pedestrian path, the rustling of leaves would likely become evident to Axon. Grabbing hold of the bushes, Veronif gently parted the branches to clear a path for herself, so instead of any fur or feather covered monster, only a human female would emerge from. One that had a quizzically amused grin on her face. ”Y’know… even if there was a beast here, I feel like your voice alone was enough to scare it off.” She commented bluntly. ”And here I thought you were in need of help or something.”
Though his was not a familiar face to Veronif, she could tell he wasn’t just some average civilian by the way he carried himself – walking alone at night, shirtless, yelling at nothing. Lucky for him, she was all for random encounters. It just felt like that kind of night, but hopefully this one would be better than the last. Extending a hand out, Veronif tipped the brim of her ballcap. ”I’m Veronif. Nice t’meetcha.”
Axon would stay on guard. His knowledge would soon be filled with the fact he was not alone. Hearing the rustling of some leaves, he would turn his attention to a push. "Okay, Game time" he whispered to himself, trying to get hype. It was about to happen. He was about to tackle his first beast. However, this would not be the case. Instead of a beast, a beauty came into his view. One that seem amused about what she came to find during her search. "On Justice, I was about to hit you with the hands of Axon. Girl do you see my muscles. Swole as ********. On Justice I don't need help, but I won't say I am disappointed in being discovered by you though" Axon responded, boasting about himself and making his ego super inflated before coming down to earth and mellowing out a little. "If I scared off a beast. At least I know that beast is smart. I sure it did not wanna cross paths with me. It learned to live for another day" he added with a s**t eating grin.
In a matter of moments, he would see an extended hand and an introduction. So the beauty had a name? She also had a unique style as well. Of course as a male, he was all flattery for sure, but there was something unique to her that he noticed just by her style. Sure, it was girly and it showed off her natural curves, but it also seem like she had a hidden talent. Maybe a mechanic? Or something more? Taking her hand, he would shake it, introducing himself to her as well. "Name is Axon. The best there is, the best there was, and the best that there ever will be when it comes to hunters. I just starting out now, but the glow up is going to be real" Yeah, he was that confidant. Probably stupid, but confidant.

Axon’s reaction was definitely one that Veronif wasn’t fully anticipating, though in all fairness it was her fault for sneaking around at night and entering in from the bushes. It took all of her willpower not to burst out in laughter by the way he addressed her. ”H..hands of Axon?” She repeated quietly under her breath as she stifled her chuckles. He was quick to boast about his physique, and for good reason too. With a quick glance up and down, Veronif could see that he was far above average when it came to his physique, with a chiseled jawline that matched his perfectly defined abs and wide muscular chest. He had no qualms about showing off his goods it seemed, and she had no protest to that whatsoever. ’A little eye candy never hurt anyone.’ Veronif thought, as her hazel green eyes met with his for a brief moment. ”Oh for sure.” She retorted, an even bigger grin on her face now. ”A big strong hunter, with muscles and hands like that, it’s got even me cowering.” She teased with a playful wink.
His handshake was firm, showing a great level of confidence that was almost expected given how quick he was to boast about himself before their formal introduction. The name Axon was a new one to add to the books. ”I’m going to take a wild guess and say you’re a beast hunter, then? Not sure how effective of a beast hunter you’ll be if you stick around in Yorknew to be honest. I haven’t really seen that many in the main city, unless you go out to the unpatrolled areas.” She suggested. ”But that’s just me… I don’t actively go out looking for trouble, that’s not my thing. I just look for treasure.” She shrugged.
”Tell me more about yourself, Axon. Let’s walk and talk? You can show me some of your moves and protect me from any dangerous beasts that might pop up in the dead of the night.” Tilting her head to the side as a motion to keep moving, Veronif started to make her way down the path once again. ”Why’d you become a hunter anyways?”
This little beauty was good at hiding her intentions because Axon wasn't able to figure it out at all. Then again, it would make sense considering Axon's personality.She got some cute eyes. I wonder exactly what she is doing out here alone. It's okay baby. Axon going to protect you. And those sweet legs His inflating ego was being fed more and more. Someone needed to stop this woman, she was creating a monster!! Probably also setting himself up for failure in the future. Maybe. Just maybe. Seeing the grin on her face, he thought he had her and the comments made afterwards added extra fuel to the fire. "There is no need to cower. The hands of Axon has a noncombat setting. Just for the ladies, if you know what I mean" he assured, "But right now the hands are all about that action so someone or something comes and tries to hurt you. They going to get hit with the bam, and the kablam, and the mighty Axon drop!" With each onomatopeia, he would do an action. He would do two punches and the axon drop was that equal to a diving elbow from wwe. Doing this action, it did cause his elbow to be in extreme pain because it slammed into the sidewalk, but he wouldn't fret. He wanted to show all he had to offer and showing pain was a weakness. A weakness that Axon just did not have!
Getting back up, his brain cells stimulated the fact he didn't even confirm or deny her statement about being a beast hunter. Then again, did he really need to? It was obvious at this point. "I just came out here. I was trying to find a place. However, you are right. The beasts are not active around here. Probably will have to find a new place," he admitted. He would worry about that later. Instead, he would accept her offer. Once she started walking, he would join in on the stroll. She had a good distance from him, but he would catch up with a quick jog. A treasure hunter? Yet, you are a treasure yourself. Hmmm, glad I kept that thought in my head. So cheesy! ...Nah, I should have said it. She probably was going to melt like butter calling her a treasure. Wait. What is a treasure hunter doing out here?His mind was curious.
"I already told you. The hands of Axon will protect you from anything!" he exclaimed again with a pose, doing a flashy series of punches and kicks. He would then stop and look at her quietly for a moment. "I became a hunter....to eradicate things that should never exist on this earth." he started as he would think hard on his reasoning of becoming a hunter. "No, it is not some sad backstory. Nothing bad happened when I was hunger. In fact, my dad is a farmer and my mother is the average stay at home and cook subservient woman. So, my household was not bad. I didn't have a bad upbringing. I guess, I became a Hunter because fighting is just what I am good at. I guess, go with the skill that you can do best? Luckily there is a job and money that allows me to fight while doing a good service to others. " He did mean what he said. Those beasts shouldn't be allowed to live and exist. At the same time, they are a part of nature. Plus, he didn't want to lie and make it seem like he was doing this to do a world a favour. To put it simply, it was a hunter or have no job. He had no other skills.

The animated nature of Axon was enough to force her grin into a full blown cheek to cheek smile. ’God damn…. It’s been a hell of a lot of time since I’ve met anyone like this.’ She couldn’t help but think as she observed him throwing his punches and kicks and elbow dives. In all her travels, the girl had met many unique personalities but his definitely stood out to her. A breath of fresh air, for once. Sure, he seemed a little outlandish and a little more than just a little egotistical, but something deep down within told her that he was someone she could rely on in the future, as a colleague in the hunt – beast hunter specialists would likely be a huge asset to her if she were ever to trek into dangerous territories looking for gold, or even simply as a friend. Veronif didn’t slow her pace for him at all in her stride, but when he did catch up her speed slowed to a crawl when she inquired about his desires for Hunting.
His mention of wanting to eradicate evil from the face of the earth made the woman stop dead in her tracks, and as she turned to look back at Axon it seemed that the look he gave as he was deep in thought seemed to trigger something in Veronif, as if she herself started to question why she got into hunting too. Was it to get away from her family? To prove that she could make something of her life without the sphere of influence granted from her father and the mafia and mobsters in the corrupt city? Every time she thought of her parents, the deep seated feeling of frustration mixed with anger seemed to rise up from the pit of her stomach. She wanted to love them, to forgive them for everything that they did. She wanted to believe that her father’s actions were just a means to an end, but she knew in the back of her mind this was wishful thinking.
So why become a Treasure Hunter? Little by little, the answer was becoming more apparent to her – to run away from her problems. If corruption was what she wanted to battle, she could have become a Blacklist Hunter, or a Contract Hunter… but no, she chose to live in her own adventurous world and become a Treasure Hunter instead. Whether or not she would ever tackle the issue head on, only time would tell. But for now, she was satisfied with where she was.
Listening intently to his story, Veronif nodded before she gently swept her fingers across the ridge of her eyebrow to move a tuft of hair from her face. ”The world needs more people like you, that’s for sure.” She said to him, smiling. There was a faint undertone of sadness in her voice, one that came uncontrollably as her thoughts of running away from her problems kept edging forward from the inner depths of her mind. ”That was pretty much the reason why I became a Treasure Hunter too… it was what I was good at, and what interested me the most.
“I was raised in the foster system, would bounce from house to house until I turned sixteen. After that, I was finally out and got to travel the world on my own. It took me a while to actually decide on becoming a Hunter though. I originally just wanted to be a travel blogger or something.” She told him as she started her walk again. The story of her family was a blatant lie, but one that Veronif had told for nearly a decade by that point, to the point that it came as second nature to her at this point and was indistinguishable from the truth. ”But then I realized it’s more fun to travel with a purpose in mind… and I like finding treasure, so here we are today.” She shrugged as she pushed her hands into the pockets of her jean shorts.
Gurdi McDoppelbottom [ Level ? Hunter | Treasure Hunter ] A figure a ways off from both Axon and Veronif was blending into the crowd and from them, a sinister aura emerged. The feeling of an intent to kill rose and attacked Veronif directly. Axon would not be able to feel this presence. Veronif would become compelled to turn her attention to the direfction it came from. Her eyes would lock on to a blond man with a strong jaw, sideburns, and a murderous grin. From him came the overwhelming presence. As someone in the crowd would pass in front of him, his form would vanish and appear across the street from the two hunters, walking into a nearby alleyway. The presence could still be felt, even from this distance, and was now seeming to beckon Veronif to him.

It seemed that the fates would have other intentions for the young Hunter. Call it a spidey sense, or just pure intuition, but the moment the pair crossed a certain threshold in the Garden Veronif felt as if something was off about the environment, and she couldn’t quite place her finger on it until… whoosh. It hit her like a moving vehicle, with such speed and ferocity and intensity that Veronif was almost knocked off balance. ’… What… what was that?’ She thought as her eyes panned around her immediate field of view. To Axon, it would appear as if Veronif had accidentally tripped over her own foot or something, but from the way he was still walking as she regained her composure it seemed she was the only one that noticed it. Her senses told her that it came from the right, and as she turned to look Veronif could just barely catch a glimpse of a face that she had yet to see. Most of his features were lost on her as she struggled to regain clarity in her distance vision, but from what she could see was that he was a blonde man, with a murderous grin on his face.
’What the…’ It felt as if the man’s entire focus was solely on Veronif. The feeling was almost overwhelming, as if to her time had slowed to a near standstill while his presence weighed down on her like a thick blanket. A look of pure confusion was painted across her face, and as she broke away from Axon to investigate, a late night straggler of the park that walked across her field of view seemed to erase the man’s physical form altogether, only for him to reappear across the street. With each successive blink of her eyes, Veronif noticed the man go deeper and deeper into the alleyway before being swallowed by the darkness, away from her view.
Turning to Axon, Veronif removed her ballcap to brush the hair that had fallen in front of her face back to its original position. Awkwardly clearing her throat, the girl let out a small chuckle. ”Man, these sidewalks are uneven…” She said abruptly. Her initial thought was to brush it all off and pretend that none of it had happened. Maybe he was just a figment of her imagination… maybe she really did stumble on the sidewalk. But there was no denying the feeling in the pit of her stomach. His presence was still there… and it was still as powerful as when she first sensed him within the park. Her mind was telling her to drop it and keep walking with Axon, but her heart was in a far different place. Driven by adventure and adrenaline, Veronif’s heart was telling her to go. To plunge straight into the darkness and find out exactly what was going on, and who that strange blonde man was.
”Hey, actually it’s getting kind of late. I just realized that I forgot to feed my dog, so maybe I’ll see you around? You won’t be too hard to miss if you stay walking around half naked like that.” She teased with a wink before running out of the park. Tonight she would follow her heart, wherever that may lead her. Crossing the street with no regard for traffic, Veronif followed the presence into the alleyway. It seemed to be leading her somewhere familiar.
Axon would shake his head. "I would like for there to be more people like me. However, there is an issue when it comes to that. One. I am the one and only. Heh. More people that willing to be hunters. However, like me? Nah. Then that wouldn't make me unique. Just like more people like you wouldn't make you unique." He replied sweetly before coming to a stop. He didn't spot the sadness that was in her words. However, he felt he needed to try to cheer her up more because of her family situation. "Well. I glad to see you didn't let the system get you down. Most people would feel weak. Helpless. Most people would blame the world for the hand that they are dealt and would just roll over and let it kick you. However, you figured out a plan. Made a name for yourself!" He cheered. He wanted her to know she has done something amazing and maybe will continue to do so. He didn't really have much more to say. His mind was blank now. "Oh.. no a place around here? Dungeon maybe?" He would ask before noticing she was gone. Did he? Did he forget something? Wow, he was so enwrapped with himself he didn't notice the lady had said her goodbyes and left to go check out a disturbance. The downfall of being self-absorbed, you don't notice other people and their words. Noticing he was alone now, he just laughed. "Heh. Time find a dungeon"
OOC: My mind went blank as ********. . Edit: actually that works out fine. ^^; made quick edit so things flow smoothly
